We play the Twins in April this year, not June!!!!
-
I like Garland a hell of a lot....but he is younger and put up better numbers than Wright last year. If we gave them Wright over Garland, we'd probably have to give them Biddle too or another prospect...I'd consider giving them Jon Adkins or Franklin Francisco. I'm fine with either deal....I figure the Expos would rather have Garland than Wright....but I'm not Omar Minaya, so who the hell knows. Remember though....no one get you hopes up. This IS the White Sox we are dealing with.
-
Yes, we can. I would do a Garland/Liefer/Glover/Diaz/Stewart/cash for Vazquez/Colon....and if we wanted to and JR wasn't such a cheapass, we could probably keep Garland, Diaz and Stewart and put Biddle in there if we took on Tatis's salary. Damn.....I gotta remember not to get excited. This deal could make us as Sox fans act like Cubs fans....take it slowly.
-
Nothing would hurt this organization more if than if they lost their star player....their heart and soul. I agree....he should get the f*** out of there.
-
Doub....I think something you should factor in is the top 3 winners in our rotation.... WHITE SOX 45- Buehrle - 19 Wright - 14 Garland - 12

Murc....it's been buggin me....who is that in your avatar?

ADD PAUL WILSON!!!!! Jesus Christ...I don't know how to get that point across. Wilson is a good pitcher who could put up a good record with a good team behind him. I'd take him over all of the above. Helling will put up a 5.00 ERA, Finley's like 40 and probably won't come here because of the Whitesnake thing, Valdes is decent(but I'd rather have Wilson over him), Rogers will probably make $5-$6 million and Robert Person could be the next Todd Ritchie. If you want an inning-eater, get Suppan. If you want a good pitcher who will cost a bit more(probably $3 mill....and he's better than the Cubs $3 million man, Shawn Estes), than get Wilson. He is a pretty good pitcher when healthy....I believe he was drafted in the first round by the Mets several years back....you don't just waste your first round pick on nothing(unless you're the Sox and you draft Mark Johnson or Matt Ginter, though Ginter may become a decent pitcher over time, or you're the Twins and you draft Todd Ritchie). Paul Wilson, IMO, is the best option out there right now that will cost $3 mill or less. He's the kind of guy that we'll get if we don't get Colon.

I think the Expos would too. That's the good thing...if they didn't, they'd definately make it if we took Tatis.

I think he's smartened up a bit. He's not a baseball genius like Billy Beane, but he's definately not as stupid as Al Baird or Gord Ash(or Doug Melvin for that matter....signing Royce Clayton puts him in that category). He's a less than good GM....but he is starting to see the big picture. Trading Foulke, a guy we were obviously not going to keep, for a guy in Koch is a decent move....he's still in the habit of trading a closer for a closer or a starter for a starter, but he'll get over that eventually(but if he doesn't do it within the next year, I hope he's doing it with someone else). I wouldn't be surprised to see him give up a real good prospect, say Malone or Diaz, but then again, I wouldn't be surprised to see him give up a guy that is just a decent pitcher, say, Biddle. I think that the trade that Montreal would suck up and practically accept immediately would be Biddle, Glover and Liefer....they get a good starting pitcher/bullpen pitcher, a good reliever and a possible good/bad 1Bman/OFer. We get Colon, who helps us instantly, and we don't lose much, or nothing that will hurt us badly in the long run(Glover will be a pretty good reliever eventually, but Almonte can't be much worse, and if he is, we still have a few others, say, Jon Adkins, Franklin Francisco, or Felix Diaz could be used out of the pen.....and using Diaz out of the pen could actually be better for him in the long run, as it would decrease the possibility of him getting injured. Biddle will be a decent starter someday, and Liefer may or may not be anything in his career. We don't lose much depth off our bench and we don't lose much from anywhere else. We then have 4 guys that fit Phil Rogers' stat of 30/190, which is a pretty good equation, along with Jon Rauch, who could be a ROY candiate this year. We'll just have to wait and see. Odds are, we shouldn't listen to a damn word anyone says on the Colon situation, especially him coming to the Sox...unless we're talking about the Red Sox

Actually, the thing that really got 2000 started was when we got in the brawl with Detroit. We got the idea that we were a bunch of badasses who couldn't be beaten....maybe with badass Koch in the house, we will. Who the hell knows anymore.
-
Unless that move plays a big part in bringing us a pennant or World Series win.
-
Pitchers always pitch better with a lead....they don't have to make the perfect pitch. It will also help in the development of our young pitchers like Rauch, Garland, and Wright(and Honel, Malone, Diaz and others for the future).

Why'd you quit eating olives? I really like green olives a whole hell of a lot. They are damn tasty....I don't think I'll ever give them up....not even after chewing on aluminum foil. That will make me want to eat them more.
-
And we'd have a decent bat, albeit an expensive one, off the bench that can play both 3B and 1B. That deal suits me a bit better in all reality....we don't lose as much, and we gain a frickin ton. $8 million more puts us at $50 million....adding $6 million more couldn't hurt us either, especially since we're hosting the all-star game.

A message board? I think I have better things to do than to believe a rumor that was originated on an ESPN board....and the only radio show I'll listen to and believe any rumors of is MLB radio. Radios can start a lot of rumors that are nothing but things to take up air time. You can propose a deal, say, Joe Blow for Mo Schmoe and just have people call in and talk about the deal and then have the deejays talk about the proposed deal to eat up air time.
-
If that's all they want for him, why wont they accept Wright, Paul, and Liefer? They probably would....and that could make Michael Barret expendable too, but he only makes $1.25 mill a year or so for them. I don't know if anyone would want to do this....but we could probably get Colon and Tatis for practically nothing.
-
Maybe those bat boys are better than Estrada.
-
Regardless, they are getting more out of it than what they would involve the Mets and Red Sox....all that is known is the Mets would probably trade someone to Montreal for Colon and then Colon would be dealt to Boston for Shea Hillenbrand.
-
Wait a second....guys can't fight girls. It's against human nature. So I would guess that any girl could kick my ass....cuz I'm sure as hell not going to fight back. Guys just don't fight back. Anyways, on to the topic....Paul Wilson. That's all I'm gonna say.
-
I don't there are enough legitimate sources for this rumor to even be considered....a radio station....and I did not see it on the White Sox 'site'(if you want to call it that) on ESPN. We'd probably have to give up a good young pitcher along with some other talent...maybe Jeff Liefer(seriously)....atleast he'd get a starting job.
-
HSC....you should consider qutting like my dad did. At the state fair one year, a guy that I'll never know until around the day my dad dies made him a bet....he said I'll give you $1000 if you don't smoke for 3 years...my dad didn't smoke for 3 years, and he never really wanted to go back. I'm not sure how many people out there want to give up $1000, but good luck to you anyways!
-
Holy s***....73-1?!?!?!?!?! Jeezus....I'd say he knows he to pitch. He knows how to pitch real damn good.
-
Jas...this topic should be "Kaat was screwed" not "Sandberg was screwed"....Kaat was a hell of a pitcher in his younger days and he won the gold glove like 14 straight times, didn't he? He'll get voted in by the veteran's committee. It's just a damn shame that he wasn't voted in earlier. Speaking of former Twins who should have been voted in....where the hell is the love for Bert Blyleven? He should be voted in. That is also a damn shame.
-
But his fastball is as fast as a 38-year old's and his breaking ball breaks as much as much as a 10th grader's. God I hate Osuna

Jays trade for John Ford-Griffin Didn't they get him along with what's his face in the 4-way deal this offseason? This is kind of confusing
