  1. Ramon Martinez, Pedro's brother, retired either this year or last year....he did it when he was pitching for the Pirates. I think that's what happened anyways.
  2. Is Izzy Molina one of the Molina brothers?
  3. If we could get Suppan for around $1.5-$2 million, I'd take...he'd be better than Ritchie....Suppan actually is an inning-eater...he's pitched over 200 innings the past four years(208.6, 217, 218.3, 208). I think it'd be worth it.
  4. Everybody, forget Brian Anderson...he sign with Cleveland
  5. Goddamn...don't let him go to the frickin Marlins...that pisses the hell out of me. I'd rather do the package that got us Vidro and Barret along with Colon then do nothing....and I'm sure the Expos would rather do that deal than trade Colon for Penny straight up, because they still have to do more moves after it. Guys, I'm sorry to do this....but if I were KW, I'd talk to JR and say if you want to win so much, then let's do it. Now or never. Don't trade the entire farm system, but give them the Garland, Liefer/ Lee, and what not for Colon, Vidro and Barret....if we suck this year, then we trade away all of it...Thomas, Konerko, Koch...the whole lot that makes more than $5 million(excluding Buehrle and Maggs, assuming Buehrle will make more than $5 million next year)....but if we did that, I got a feeling we wouldn't lose. We'd overmatch the Twins in every facet of the game....starting rotation(1-2 anyways, and Wright, Rauch and Biddle are decent), bullpen and hitting....I'm pretty sure we'd win the division and could be a World Series threat if we got another starter at the break....a 1-2-3 of Buehrle, Colon and say maybe Brian Lawrence, and we'd be in real good shape....especially if KW could get Montreal to take Wright over Garland....regardless, Wright is a good #4 starter and when he has his 'A' game, he is near unhittable. When he doesn't, you'll get a strained neck watching balls leave the park. Now or never should be the team motto this year....because if we don't, I say we sell the big money guys(aside from Maggs and Buehrle) and let the young guns play....or in other words, rebuild.
  6. Randa'sa decent 3Bman....he hits for a higher average, around .280 or .300, can hit 10-20 bombs, and will drive in about 60-80 runs....in other words, he basically puts up the same numbers as a guy like Bill Mueller when he is healthy....if they only had to give up a couple low-level prospects or even some decent high-level pitching prospects, I think they could do the deal....KC is centering their entire team around pitching....they figure you can win with a good starting rotation and a good bullpen...with very little offense. I got three words for them....good f***ing luck
  7. Hey Cerb....FYI, you have two Palmeiro links....just to let you know!
  8. I didn't...but when the game had been evenly officiated up till that point for the most part(as on Bledsoe's first interception, Price was actually held from getting the ball and for that reason an interception was the result)....but when that happened, I knew that the game was over and that the Bills had been cheated a win, because I know as well as anyone does that Clements most likely would have gone all the way. I don't know the correct terminology for Randy Cross, but I know one thing he isn't and that's smart. Hell, during the game he was talking about Tennessee because they had just come from an update from their game and he said something like"Team's like Tennessee's strengths are what make them strong football teams." LMFAO...what a douchebag. He's almost as bad as Chip and Joe from Wrigley Field.
  9. We could probably sign him for around $500,000-$1,000,000. If he put up decent numbers and was a clubhouse leader, it would be well worth it.
  10. Only thing is, when the Orioles played Cubs in an exhibition game a couple years ago, he pitched 8 shutout innings, giving up 2 hits. That's pretty damn good if you ask me. I don't think El Duque or Livan could do that on a good day. It'd be worth the risk, if you had the money. The White Sox do not, so don't even worry about Contreras until we have to face him.
  11. Jeezus, I wish I could celebrate but the damn Lambeau officials took the game out of the opposition's hand for a second straight time....first in the Vikings game, after reviewing all the penalties, 9 of them were ruled bad calls, and they were all in the same quarter. In the Bills game, Ahman Green's 'non-fumble' was obvioulsy a fumble. He caught the ball, tucked it under his left arm, took a couple steps and then dropped it. The officials ruled it an imcomplete pass, which is bulls***. The Packers then scored a touchdown on the next play. That would have put the Bills up 7-3, but instead leaves them trailing 10-0. Damn officials ruined the game.....death to the officials at Lambeau Field! In other news, Randy Cross is a motherf***ing douchebag that knows very little about football.
  12. The Sox want no part of Thomas, and if he has a good year, he'll bolt. If the Sox want no part of Thomas then why in the hell did Reinsdorf jump in so late when it was apparent that Thomas was going to sign with LA and resign him to a new deal? I think KW may want no part of Thomas...but Reinsdorf obviously does.
  13. We probably won't have to resign Thomas...with the mutual options, one side will most likely accept somewhere along the way. Regardless, if we can get rid of both Osuna this offseason, we will be good. He's a mediocre reliever who will earn around $2.5 million next year. We really don't need him when we will have Almonte and Sanders and all those others waiting in the wings ready to take over. No need giving $2.5 million to a guy that will give us the same production or worse than a guy that will earn $300,000.
  14. What'd you think of Carter's comments at the end of the game when Anderson was lining up to kick? "He can't make it. He can't kick it that far." or something like that.... LOL I think that is quote of the week material
  15. Sammy Sosa is the 2nd best offensive player in the majors. Say what you want, but the Sox would be nuts if they didnt' want his production and moved him to left. Bonds is first, A-Rod is second, and Vlad is 3rd....you could make an argument that Soriano is 4th, but I don't think so....assuming this isn't done statistically. So he is atleast 4th in the majors offensively. Not only that, but Maggs has much more upside than Sosa does and he is just as potent with the bat. He hits the cutoff man when necessary and plays his position quite well. He doesn't strike out 120 times a year and he steals bases every once in a while. He isn't a selfish player and he doesn't speak negatively about his team. The worst thing he has ever said about the Sox is that they may trade him at some point, possibly to the Yankees. He doesn't blow kisses to the camera(though Jose "Manos" Valentin does), he doesn't sprint out to RF before every game and he doesn't flip out on teammates for turning his music down. Compare that to Sosa, and you wonder why people say Maggs is the better RFer. Regardless of what their stats tell you, Maggs is the better RFer in Chicago for his team, and that's what matters most in baseball. Not the stats for your own good, but the stats for the team. Maggs has won more divisions that Sosa has in his career....what does that tell you about Sammy? Maggs has had the same number of .500 seasons on the South Side as Sosa has had on the North Side....and Sosa has played on the North Side 9 1/2 years, while Maggs has played about 5 years on the South Side...and in 98, the Sox won 80 games, so Maggs has more 80 win seasons on the South Side than Sosa has on the North Side....in 4 1/2 less years. I'm sorry if you fail to realize this, but from the way I see it, Ordonez has been the better player for his team in his 5 years than Sosa has been for his team in his 9 1/2 years....meaning Maggs has been and is the better player of the two. That's MHO anyways.
  16. For $3 million a year? He was s***ty last year...I'd rather have Ritchie back at $3 million a year than Estes. He's got good stuff and has had previous success, but is too inconsistent and, for the most part, has never been successful in his career. Why any team would want to take a $3 million risk is beyound my knowledge. Go ahead and see if Estes is any better than a #6 starter....I doubt he is. You should have saved that money and used it on the bullpen....the sCrUBS will have a fine starting rotation as it is, but their bullpen will be s***ty, even with Remlinger in it, unless they sign or trade for other pitchers. For starters, they need a closer. Alfon'six'a ain't gonna do s*** closing. He f***ing sucks.
  17. I believe it was 35-3 at halftime and the Bills came back to win
  18. He can steal bases too....if I remember correctly, he is quite fast. We should pick him up to a small deal....only problem is I believe he is quite injury prone.
  19. Exactly...that is the reason that only one of Rauch and Biddle will be in the rotation, and I'm thinking it will be Rauch. The guy has more upside and is a flat out better pitcher. And whether it means anything or not, the most innings Rauch has thrown in one game is 7, Biddle 6....those numbers of course coming from the 2002 campaign.
  20. They may figure he will cost too much, or with the addition of Gene Kingsale, they now have 4 outfielders....Higginson, Kingsale, Lombard and Magee, and have Andres Torres waiting in the wings, who may be a good leadoff hitter someday. I don't think they are dumping him, but rather fear he will cost too much if he were to be offered arbitration. Don't worry...the Yankees will sign him and use him as a 7th outfielder. :puke
  21. $700,000 is a very good price for what we will get.
  22. Aww no it's not....them damn Dolphins....kick the living s*** out of everyone in their path, but fall down and let the Bills stomp on them all day long. I knew right when Lucas went out that it was all over, with or without the snow. But I hear that was quite fun. However, with my Bills virtually out of the AFC East race(they'd need New York to beat the Pats this weekend and Minnesota to win tomorrow[which I think will be a very tough game for Miami....only Carter and Fiedler know what it's like in that dome...speaking of which...why in the hell do the Dolphins have the Vikings' 3rd string QB from 1998 as their starter now?]...anyways, the Bills would have to win on Sunday and then they'd have to beat the Bengals[and that game scares me....if Dillon has a huge day and Kitna plays well, the Bills could be in trouble...not that I care about the Bills season right now, but a friend of mine is a Bengals fan...don't know how or why...he is though] and they'd have to hope the Jets lose and the Pats and Dolphins tie, because they go by head to head record first, don't they? Regardless, the Bills shots are slim to none of making the playoffs), all I can hope for is that they make it a season sweep of the NFC North by beating the Pack IN LAMBEAU FIELD....I hope Favre has an offday and the defense steps up big time. It would be sweet as hell to see Bledsoe and the Bills end Favre's perfect record at Lambeau when it is 34 degrees or colder....and they sure as hell could do it too. If the Packers don't get homefield advantage throughout and the Bucs do, and it is because the Bills beat the Packers in week 16, this season will be one of the better ones in the last decade. And I'm still wondering...how the hell do you lose 4 straight Super Bowls and still have that many damn fans show up? Those Bills fans are mighty faithful people. Oh well....I really don't mind the Phins....as long as the Packers lose, I'm gonna be a happy man/boy. God I hate the Pack. But that's not as interesting as to who the best RFer in Chicago is....oh wait, I already know the answer to that.
  23. So, uh, I hate to ask this(actually I really don't), but who is the best RFer in Chicago? Hmmm.... I wonder what 95% of the answers will be....
  24. So trade him to a team that needs a catcher. I'd take a prospect like Neal Cotts, a young starting pitcher with potential.
  25. Personally, I doubt it. It will be like the Ozzie Smith/Royce, the Choice, Clayton for the Cardinals in whatever year it was. They may battle it out, and one may favor heavily over the other, but it had been decided prior to ST. Olivo calls a better game, he has a better arm and may have better defense...I have yet to see that though. He's just as good with the bat and he's just as fast, to go along with more power and the fact that he is the first Sox player to both look and do the same thing as a player he looks kind of like...homer in his first major league at-bat(the last one to do it was Carlos Lee). I believe Olivo did that anyways. Regardless....I think Olivo will be the starter and Alomar the backup with Paul in AAA as the 3rd option, assuming Olivo doesn't flop. Olivo flops and it will be a battery of Alomar and Olivo.
