  1. Also, you forgot to mention how good his arm is...if you are a QB for Stanford, you must have a pretty damn good arm....which, if we open up a spot for Maggs to take LF, could put Borchard in RF...can you imagine having an arm as strong as Maggs' in LF? Let alone his defense, which when compared to Carlos is frickin gold glove. He's got the arm, he's got good fundamentals, as you said, he's shown he can hit for power(he had 20 homers last year and he was out for the first month with a broken foot), and he's a switch hitter. We got a kid that will be good....he'll feel no pressure....he'll be a kid that can hit well in a lineup that is among the best in the league...if he doesn't succeed, the others in the lineup will.
  2. Yeah it is....earlier this year he was all about Jose....saying with Jose at SS, we will win. Now he's saying that he wants to get rid of Jose....who the hell knows. Suppose he will hop back on the bandwagon when Borchard gets to the big league level and actually starts producing?
  3. What the hell is the code? Anyways....football season is over....I'll have to find a Sox picture now.
  4. Must have been that blue astroturf...that was weird as hell.

They get a bye in the first round....meaning they will have to beat only one team, gotta be the Jets or Colts, or if not, the Browns or Steelers...the only team, IMO, that can beat them is the Jets....they seemed to take care of the Colts and Steelers pretty handily this past year and the Browns are playing without Couch....Holcomb played well in the first two games, but he hasn't played for a while now...and unless he can get hot real quick, the Browns are going to be eliminated in round 1. I'm thinking the Raiders are probaby the team that's going all the way from the AFC...and if they go, you gotta think they're gonna win it all....I don't think any team can stop them in the NFC(especially the Packers....they are terrible for a 12-4 team....they should be about an 8-8 team).
  6. HAPPY f***IN NEW YEAR!
  7. So now you're high on Crede? What the f***? You said he would turn into a nothing earlier in the year.

They almost won a Stanley Cup a few years back with Hasek at goalie, didn't they? I am not the greatest hockey mind there is....as all I see is a bunch of guys skating around hitting a puck with their sticks into the goals. That really is too bad....that leaves Buffalo and Green Bay as the only two teams to have just a football team. But back to the playoffs...I gotta like the Titans' chances....they have won 10 of their last 11 and will play either the Jets or Colts next round, if I'm not mistaken....McNair seems to have a good game almost every time, and the defense will play well, like it always does...if Eddie George plays well, the Titans could go deep. Kind of hard to believe that the Titans went 11-5 and didn't have an All-Pro member....all I know is that from the AFC, it will be either the Raiders or the Titans. And I can't believe it...but the frickin Browns got in the playoffs....how the hell they did that is beyond my knowledge....sheesh. And there won't be 4 9-7 teams in the AFC East next year...unless the Bills get some more defense personell, I don't look for them to improve much over their 8-8 season this year...they'd be damn lucky to win 10 games. They could use another pass rusher and maybe another OLB. The special teams is really good right now(still laughing at Randy Cross...the Bills got trapped inside their own 20, and he said that the Pack would get good field position...next thing you know, there is an 83 or 84 yard punt by Brian Moorman and the Packers were on their own 3!) and the offense is good....all they need is defense....the Pats need another RB....maybe use Kevin Faulk out of the backfield instead of Antowain Smith, because Smith struggled a lot this year. They have enough receivers and their defense is fine, except for stopping the run...and the Jets, well, I hope Chad Pennington comes back down to Earth next year...because right now, as much as I don't want to admit it, the Jets look a lot like the Patriots did last year...a backup QB comes in and turns the team around....god I hope not....

Atleast it came against your boy Tom Brady....so maybe that's why. Maybe it wasn't a Dolphin meltdown but rather Brady stepping up and making the plays. Anyways....that game was so fun....because in about week 14, I told my friend that in order for the Bills to win the east, the Fins had to lose the rest of their games except for week 17, the Pats had to do the same, the Jets had to beat the Pats and then lose the rest of their games and then the Bills had to win out. All was working well, to a point, until the Bills lost to Green Bay(a game I still haven't gotten over yet)....and in week 17, I said the Dolphins and Patriots had to tie. When it went to overtime....well, I think you know what I was thinking. And then Vinateri's kick....he got a lot of boot in it, but not much else...I figure that thing had the distance to be good from about 60 yards....and the accuracy to be good from about 37...and the Pats won as it was a 35-yard kick. As pitiful as it is for the Jets to be representing the AFC East(I had them out of it in week 8 as a 2-5 team....that bit me in the ass), it does make me proud, yet disappointed, in one thing....the last place team, the Bills, finished one game out of first....now think about it...had the Bills not been screwed over in the Packers game, all 4 teams in the East could have finished with a 9-7 record...how messed up is that s***? I hope you as a Dolphin fan knows what they need to win next year...because I sure as hell don't. They have a decent QB, they have a RB who is in the top 2 in the AFC in Williams, they have a good receiving crew, they must have a good O-line if Williams ran for almost 2000 yards, they have a good defense as a whole, and they have a good special teams unit....maybe it is Wannstedt. I didn't think a team would suck that much because of a coach. Regardless...I'm a Colt fan come next weekend....I still can't frickin believe the Jets made the playoffs....hell, they lost to the frickin Bears! You know a team is bad if they lost to the Bears!
  10. Liefer has said that he wants to start, and if he doesn't here, he'd like to be traded...that's all he's said. If the Sox traded Lee, they could have Liefer start and they'd save themselves $4.2 million or so....which would be enough to sign or trade for a good starter....hell, if we traded Lee, we could make the once proposed Colon deal and, in reality, only take on about $11 million in salary....that puts us at $52 million or so, something around there, and than if we signed Buehrle to a contract, it would put us at around $56 million or so. We'd then have to either hope for Borchard to come up to the big league level and produce big time or we'd have to sign someone...and if we made two trades like that, we would become both a pitching strong team as well as a hitting strong team. Regardless, Lee is expendable, or rather is available. He always has been and will be. Or he atleast should have been and should be.
  11. The thing is, the Yankees are looking to cut payroll, not add it. El Duque made $3.2 million last year, and that will probably increase some...maybe $1 million....trading CLee for El Duque straight up would cancel out the contracts....which is the reason we give them Liefer. We give them Sanders and maybe someone else....I'd be willing to give them Wunsch, but I don't know if KW would. All in all, we would take on about $3 million extra in salary and the Yankees dispose of a contract. Now what I'd seriously see as more believable would be Pettitte....he will be making $11.5 mill next year, and they already have another lefty starter, old as he is, in Wells...my question is, is he(Pettitte) worth it? It would probably be the same package.
  12. They'd be looking to deal Pettitte, El Duque, or Wells...with Pettitte and El Duque at the top. I'd take El Duque...give them Sanders and Liefer...both should be happy with that deal.
  13. With Lee's "great" bat, we have 4 or 5 in our lineup alone and atleast 1 or 2 more in the minors.....if we traded him, we'd have 3, 4 or even possibly 5 great bats....Liefer hasn't had a chance to prove anything yet...he could be something special, or he could suck big time. Liefer has the potential to hit 40 homers a year, and play better defense than Carlos. We'd get a better OBP from Lee and maybe a better average with around the same RBIs. Anyways, even if Liefer were to flop.....we'd have Thomas, Maggs and Konerko in our lineup....and if Crede hits like he did from about mid-August to the end of the year all year long, we'd have 4 "great" bats, and we could hope for a return of form from Jose and Rowand produces decent numbers and Jimenez does a decent job of leading off, we'd be fine without Lee, even if Liefer was s***ty....and Liefer would play better defense. And about that more BB's than K's with over 80 RBIs...who gives a s***....Scott Spiezio is also in that category. Would you rather have Paul Konerko or Scott Spiezio at 1B?
  14. Sometimes he has to ask someone where left field is or what side of the plate a right-handed batter hits on....he doesn't quite understand that when a right-hander pulls a ball, it goes to left-field.
  15. Do we really want someone like that if we have others in the minors(Malone, Munoz, Ring)? I like Josh Stewart, but he'll have a hard time cracking into our rotation...he could make it as a lefty though, or maybe as a prospect to finish a deal. Something like that.
  16. If it means anything, Ochoa will probably be cheaper than Palmeiro.
  17. Alomar hit .287 last year with the Sox with 7 homers and 25 RBIs....if he hits .260, I'll be happy...he won't be playing more than 50 games or something around there. That's about 1-2 games a week...his knees won't die on us catching 1-2 games a week. Plus, he's mainly here to tutor Miguel....after this year, he'll probably retire. And if we brought him back as a coach, it wouldn't be bad....maybe a catcher's coach or something like that.
  18. We were a .500 team with him hitting like s*** for most of the year this past year, and we won 83 games without him in the lineup for most of it(hell, we hadn't won hardly anything before and after Frank went out...we started to kick it up a notch about a third of the way through the year). We need the starting pitching to come through for us...that's all. The bullpen will be good, the lineup will be good...the rotation is what scares me....and even if it pitches with a big stench of mediocrity, we could still win the division. Just look at the Angels or the Giants....mediocre to good rotations with real good bullpens and offenses. That could be us next year in the World Seires....key word there is could
  19. Tell me....have you ever seen Borchard play? The only person that I know could have seen him play is HSC, and she isn't on right now. From just looking at Jim Edmonds...you can't say he's got good range. But one thing he does do is get incredible jumps on balls hit at him and can get to balls that way. Do you know personally that Joe gets s***ty jumps on balls and couldn't play CF? He's done it at every other level, and if he hustles as much as Rowand does in CF, than he could be a good CF...nothing special, but one that makes the routine plays and throws the ball with authority. Just because he's a big guy doesn't mean he can't play CF...kind of like football. Just because you are a smaller guy doesn't mean you can't play D-line or that you can't play O-line....or in basketball, just because you're big doesn't mean you can't play guard...hell, look at Magic Johnson....6'9'' and he was a guard. Guys that are 6'9'' aren't supposed to be guards. Or Dennis Rodman....guys that are 6'7'' are not supposed to be rebounding champions, but he was, wasn't he? Don't judge someone on looks alone...maybe he can only play LF or, more likely, RF(because of his arm), but never rule out the possibility of someone. Also, there are a few guys here and there who flop....there aren't many though. Many, many guys are overhyped....but when someone is known as a gem, and that their ceiling is no where to be found, than most of the time they are not wrong. What about Frank Thomas...they weren't wrong with him...or Paul Konerko, or SamME even....I read a magazine article from about 1991 that said that if Sammy could hit the ball consistently and not miss so many pitches that he could be something great someday.....jeez, how odd does that sound? And about Jimenez showing more promise than Borchard...think that could be, in part, due to the fact that Jimenez has played in the big leagues about 2 years now and Borchard has only been in pro ball(not the MLB) 2 years combined....so Jimenez has just a little more experience. Jimenez is not a prospect anymore...he's just a player who hasn't reached his full potential.
  20. Exactly...but it's not like he got picked off 3B with 1 out in the 9th or anything like that in his career. No, but he has gotten pick off 1st and second. And staels bases at the wrong time Yeah, I know....it's because he's a douchebag....and I don't think getting picked off was Wavin' Wally's fault.
  21. After looking at some of these, I got an interesting idea....how many people would consider previously talked about Pedro Astacio? I previously believed he made $11 million next year....in reality, he makes $7 million. Lee makes $4.2 million....or in other words, we'd be taking on $2.8 more million in salary...not too hard to believe and it would work out, that is, if the Mets could get rid of Jeromy Burnitz/Roger Cedeno...and I'd consider taking Cedeno, but that would add another $4.5 million on and $5 million over the next two years....$14.5 million in all, for those of us who can't add. It would be a cheaper option than the formery proposed Colon deal and if Astacio pitched well both halves of the season and Cedeno returned to the form he had in 99-01, than he'd be a good pickup and a good leadoff hitter...it'd also be the 4th team he was on in 4 years Just a thought.
  22. I think that's a fair deal for Buehrle. It may be a fair deal for him, but he wants more....I'd give him $4 mill a year, but I would even consider $5-$6 million....as I said above.
