  1. But if all 29 teams turn down a deal for Tatis...then the Expos are stuck with him. Which in turn means that Vidro could be dealt instead. I'm still thinking a Garland, Liefer, Paul, Harris, another minor leaguer and cash for Colon, Vidro and Barret works out real well for us...we take care of their $15 million debt and we get 3 real good players in return...if we could lock Colon up, and then eventually Vidro, that would be very, very good.
  2. Baggs, as I said to oldroman....would you rather have had KW made the trade for Ortiz which would add $4 million to our payroll and would give us a huge risk in JT Snow or we would have been Ortiz-less with Konerko...you even said it yourself that this could end up like the Ritchie trade....which is one reason I really like it falling through. I am happy with Konerko in a Sox uni...it is fine with me.
  3. So you'd give up Konerko for a guy that will put up similar numbers to Jon Garland? Come on....KW did the right thing here...instead of being aggressive, he stayed back and just let it go....we would have given up Konerko and had to have taken on JT Snow, who is, at best, a decent hitter. Would you seriously choose a team of Konerko at 1B with a rotation of Buehrle-Garland-Wright-Rauch-Ritchie/Biddle/Daal/someone else or Snow at 1B with a rotation of Buehrle-Ortiz-Garland-Wright-Rauch while taking on $4 million more and probably giving up a good prospect too? I would choose the team with Konerko at 1B over the one with Snow at 1B...Snow would be a huge risk...he could produce, or he may suck...it'd be basically rolling the dice.
  4. I don't like KW, but I gotta agree Cerb....I don't believe I've made a comment bashing KW for this one yet...so yeah, I do like the fact that he didn't deal for Ortiz. Not only that, but I found an interesting quote from a major league executive.... (this is regarding Russ Ortiz)..."His arm action has really gotten short in the back -- there's no looseness," the executive says. "He brings the ball back to his ear like a dart almost. He's stiff to the point where he puts strain on his shoulder and elbow." Click here Maybe it was a good thing we didn't get him....who knows
  5. So that's why they can't sell out for a Braves' postseason game down there in the south.
  6. Statistically speaking, Daal is better...but who would you rather have, Daal, who is looking for $3 million a year over 3 years or Brian Anderson, who is probably just looking for maybe a $1 million salary? That's where I think he is better...sure he may be on a downward spiral which will eventually end in retirement. But he would be a cheaper option and if he sucks, then we release him...simple as that. I'd take JB back....just another voice in the clubhouse that could make the team better...and he'd be cheap. If he could come here and throw up a 12-10 season with a 4.50 ERA, I'd be very happy....because he is making clubhouse chemistry much better.... The again, baggs, wasn't JB one of your favorites? LOL
  7. Well, this does one thing...it takes the Braves out of the Colon/Vazquez race...and I personally believe that the only three teams that still have a shot at him are the Reds, the Red Sox and the Yankees....the Mets are set for the year, especially if their proposed 3-way deal goes through(which I don't think it will, personally...John Hart isn't dumb enough to do it)....along with the possibility of the White Sox of course, but I personally still doubt it. However, if the Yankees did say no to the proposed deal by the Expos(Juan Rivera, Nick Johnson and El Duque for Colon and the Yanks pay all of El Duque's salary), the Red Sox have officially pulled out and the Reds aren't interested, that can mean only one thing....and I don't see how it can't happen....HSC said no....but I'm seeing yes. What the hell...the Expos have to cut salary...that's that. There is no way the Sox can get the package pulled off, can they?
  8. Brian Anderson and Robert Person would cost us, preferably, about $3 million, or in other words, Todd Ritchie's salary. Give them a guarenteed $500,000 and then with incentives a possible $1.5 million. And if Person doesn't work out, we got Rauch....and if Anderson doesn't work out, we got Biddle or Porzio or someone else...maybe we use Josh Stewart. One thing I know is that Arnie Munoz should be trying to be able to pitch longer...he could be a kick-ass starter for us in the future, if that curve-ball is truly like Zito's....and he's got a good fastball. If he learned a slider or something like that, he could be a real good starter for us...could you imagine a rotation with Buehrle, Malone and Munoz? That is 3, count them, 3 kick-ass lefties...along with two of Honel, Garland, Diaz and Rauch....that is possibly 7 real good starters for us in the future. Ouch.....
  9. No no....they'd over-estimate it like they did with Butter in ST....thinking his fastball was in the high 80s or whatever and then it turned out the highest he was hitting was 85.... KW would be more like... "We like this pickup. Mark has a good arm, with a good fastball which tops out at about 93 and has a good curve ball and a knowledge of how to pitch." He would then proceed to guarentee 18 wins from him....and somehow, he would trade him Corwin Malone, Dan Wright and Matt Ginter, and all 3 would have good success with the A's. When Fyhrie goes 7-19 with the Sox with an ERA up around 5.89, KW has no comment(we all know what he is thinking...'I got f***ed big time!' ).
  10. Oh no baggs...I still think it would be funny as hell...and he'd get us left-handed power off the bench too...except for the fact that he hit about .023 in clutch situations when the Twins really needed him. But he's a good guy in the clubhouse and would improve team chemistry....it is KW's perfect move. In other words, expect David Ortiz in a White Sox uniform by about mid-January
  11. Isn't Brian Anderson a free agent? He's got a ring and is a decent lefty....and he'll be cheaper than Daal. Give him a shot....it'd be worth it. The least it could do was just help us eliminate one more person from the starting rotation, being him. I think he would be a wise move...he's a lefty, he's got playoff experience(and he should have won that game too....lost 2-1 if I remember correctly), and he'll be cheap...nothing wrong with any of the above...and I forgot to mention that he is a decent pitcher too. I think he would help us in the long run. And if Ritchie does in fact come back at $3 million, I'm gonna be pissed....I want Rauch in the rotation, not Ritchie. What the f*** KW is thinking if he resigns Ritchie at $3 mill is way beyond my knowledge...I'd rather have Parque at $500,000...atleast he is left-handed and is cheaper. And he's had success in the major leagues in the AL.
  12. Oops, forgot to throw this in.... f***
  13. And I think it means he has something totally different up his sleeve....you wouldn't be too disappointed with maybe a certain pitcher who throws kind of hard and is big....would you? That pitcher being none other than....Jon Rauch. I think this means we are standing pat and letting Rauch, Biddle and Ritchie battle it out for the last two spots....I don't like it, but that's probably what will happen. Unless HSC is wrong and we....nevermind...
  14. It's obvious why the Sox didn't get Ortiz...we were looking at giving up Lee or Konerko, and they didn't want to add on money...and that's exactly what they would be doing with their additions...they wouldn't be cutting enough salary. Either that or else KW actually had no interest in Ortiz and was just doing this much like the A-Rod and soon to be Colon deals.
  15. Oh god...LMFAO....Lee is such a funny ass player...he can hit the s*** out of the ball one inning and then give it back the next inning with his foolish play in the field. I guess we should be lucky that he actually became a good player for us...remember the last time a move was made involving a player and the positions of OF and 3B? That stupid ass is head honcho, aside from JR of course. If Lee would have pulled a choke job, he probably would have been our new GM in about 15 years.
  16. And when Thomas is in left Liefer will play 1B and Lee will DH...wait a second...wrong combo
  17. Mark Fyhrie, the guy that kicked the s*** out of the Sox earlier this year in an A's uniform, was released by them....most likely to clear roster space. Fyhrie released I just thought we should all know he won't kick our ass again...atleast, not in an A's uniform.
  18. It's f***ing sick....they would hit a combined 75 homers or so, atleast. :puke
  19. And I believe both the Yankees and Red Sox took their bids for Colon out...so that leaves.... ...the Marlins as the only team left who have shown public interest in Colon. And if Manaya is true to his word, the Sox could probably put in a bid just a little better than their's. Not that we're going to get him or anything...just wishful thinking.
  20. But no deal, IMO, matches the Red deal that would be for Colon alone....Adam Dunn AND Felipe Lopez for Colon? You have got to be s***tin' me! Colon ain't that damn good. If the Reds do in fact make that offer, than I will most definately pull out of the race. Something tells me they will pull out though.
  21. That was what I was thinking right away...and then I realized there is no way in hell it could. Ritchie had started the previous year 0-8 and had an ERA in the mid 4.00s, pitched for a team that sucked ass, and we gave up 3 pitchers in that deal. Ortiz didn't start out 0-8 this year, pitched in game 6 of the World Series and should have won it easily but the Giants blew it(and I am still laughing my f***ing ass off over that one! Lofton didn't get his ring...HAHA), he pitched over 200 innings and we are only giving up Paully K and a minor leaguer and we are going to get a minor leaguer in return as well. Then again, this IS KW we're dealing with here.
  22. Or maybe wrapping him in a towel and dangling him out the window of an apartment or hotel when there is a crowd of people out there.... Wait, just heard the news...damnit, someone already did that!
  23. Makes you wanna :puke doesn't it? :puke:puke:puke:puke:puke:puke
  24. Isn't Hendry the Gm of the Cubs? Yeah...wrong Jim...the hell was I thinking? LOL abozichiu was right...it is Bowden. That's what I meant...I just thought of the wrong stupid-ass GM whose name is Jim.
  25. I know...I was just stating the simply truth because it is there.
