    Who were

As I have said all along...it is a wash from looking at it right now...we give up a closer who is making $6 million next year and will probably opt for the free agent market after this year, a good backup catcher, and a good minor league pitching prospect who was at an advanced level for a closer who we will probably sign for a longer deal pretty soon, a good left-handed pitcher who has good stuff in some non-advanced levels and a good power hitting outfielder who has the potential to be a pretty good offensive threat someday(sounds like Jeff Liefer to me). In my book, this is at best a wash. In my book, this is at worst a wash.
  2. We have two, possible three on the team right now as we speak, excluding Paully.
  3. Remember this is Jim Hendry, the same GM who tried to get Magglio Ordonez for Ken Griffey Jr....you think even KW is that f***ing retarded? I don't think so....Hendry is a dips*** and is very much like KW....he overpays. And then he thinks he's cool in trying to trade Griffey to us....be like the big boys, trying to fool the little men out there. Jim Hendry probably will make that deal...if it happens, it's fine with me...their offense will suck and their pitching will suck....if two things suck on your team, then your team will suck in the standings. Just look at Pittsburgh last year...good bullpen, s***ty lineup, s***ty rotation(aside from Kipper)....they finished the year with 90 losses.
  4. Where else, but 1B...I guess. It's a good PR move...bring in a veteran who, if he has a good year, will hit his 500th homer as a member of the Sox. If he gets near that monument and then goes on for a couple 2 weeks without homering, that is probably about 10,000 extra each game just to witness history...which in turn means about 5 games at home, maybe more...which equals 50,000 more tickets being bought. Not a bad deal. Not only that, but we bring in a guy that has shown he has played well over the last few years and can hit a lot of different types of pitchers. Losing Konerko would be a very bad deal....I love seeing Paully K coming to the plate wearing the silver and black...now the only silver and black we'd be seeing him wearing would be the Raiders, and that's probably not even possible.
  5. I bet some (male) Sox fans out there would get a boner just thinking about that....wow is all that comes out of my mouth.
  6. A late inning hazard, who gets wild at times? That sounds like it may be somewhat psychological....which instantly makes me think of Mark Wohlers.
  7. We won't deal Borchard...any deal involving him will be denied before going any further into discussions.
  8. Whimpy would kick DJ's ass! So why do they call him Whimpy again? If he can kick the s*** out of DJ and Whimpy is like 100 years old, than wouldn't that make DJ a little whimpy?
  9. Holy s***....when I saw this at first, even with the Russ Ortiz rumors flying around, I got the s*** scared out of me. See, the Twins released David Ortiz today....

    What a Way

Chris Weinke and Eric Crouch have done very little in the NFL...actually, I should restate that....Eric Crouch did nothing in the NFL. Weinke has led a team to a 1-15 season.
  11. Oh well then it is a perfect move for Kenny Williams!
  12. With brother Ozzie! "Twin ass kicking action! Included is a bar room scene."
  13. Like when he said he could hit 50 homers at the major league level in ST after the Expos cut him?
  14. Todd Walker getting traded to Boston now makes sense...the Reds get Felipe Lopez. I assume that Griffin and Arnold are pretty good prospects as well.
  15. I'd almost bet my life that it involves Erubiel Durazo going to Oakland. The key word there being almost.
  16. The Reds released knuckler Jared Fernandez today.... Jared Fernandez released Think we should take a shot on him? Sign him to a minor league deal and then see what he can do in ST? Maybe he could be a decent 6th starter in case one of our own goes down with an injury or something like that.
  17. Montreal will get rid of a lot of offers tonight...regardless of whether or not they do it. Teams are going to want to know if they can get Colon/Vazquez/Vidro/Barret/Guerrero/Tatis and everyone, so they will assume they can't get them and take them off. There is probably going to be a little sign of urgency from all the GMs there....I hope KW isn't one of them. He should leave his offer on the table...we got plenty of time to wait. His offer is one of the better ones out there if this Lee/Liefer, Garland, Harris, Paul and PTBNL for Colon, Vidro, and Barret is in fact true...the Yankees aren't giving the Expos a good pitcher in giving up Colon...not only that, but the Sox are going to be taking more than just that $8.25 million away, as they would be taking between $10 million-$14 million away.
  18. Guys....I have no really good source for this rumor at all, but baggio has seen it....it is on the MLB.com message board. A person proposed a deal that would send Pedro Astacio and Roger Cedeno to the White Sox for Carlos Lee, Todd Ritchie and Jose Valentin. From seeing that, I concluded two things... 1) This person is f***ing crazy 2) This move plays perfectly into what KW wants to do regarding the Expos deal Think about it...why would Kenny want to trade away a SS that is decent right now when the White Sox would go with only Harris and Jimenez up the middle? Because he wants to trade for another 2B, aka Jose Vidro? Ohhh.... Astacio makes in the area of $11 million...Cedeno makes like around $5 million or so....the 3 guys that we send make around $13 million...the Mets take on about $5 million of what Astacio makes and in turn we basically take off Cedeno's salary. However, this trade happens SECOND. Why would Ken Williams make a trade when he isn't sure that he could get the second one off?(because he's Ken Williams! lol). I personally don't believe it will be Carlos going to the Expos...I believe it is Jeff Liefer. A package of Jeff Liefer, Jon Garland, Willie Harris, Josh Paul and maybe a prospect for Bartolo Colon, Jose Vidro and Michael Barret works perfectly for them....Jeff Liefer can play both LF and 1B, both of which are huge needs of theirs, and he could hit for a lot of power, basically filling in for Jose Vidro in the lineup. Willie Harris gives them a replacement for Jose Vidro at 2B, and he then leadsoff, and Garland takes the spot of Colon in the rotation. Paul also takes Barret's spot and the prospect will probably be a reliever for them, as it will probably be a minor league relief prospect(please let it be Jon Adkins, please let it be Jon Adkins)....they shed around $13.75 million from their payroll, giving them the opportunity to only have to trade a lesser paid player that makes around $2 million....they then can keep Fernando Tatis at 3B, Jose Macias in CF, Wilkerson in LF, and Liefer at 1B, with Harris at 2B. We then pull off the Mets deal which sends Carlos Lee, Jose Valentin and Todd Ritchie to NY for Astacio, Cedeno and cash. This puts us at around $58 million or so for our payroll...we then sign Buehrle to an extension, where he receives around $4 million in the first year...which puts our payroll at about $62 million. We then trade Osuna to a team that needs some bullpen help and is willing to spend some money(the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Cubs, the Phillies...etc) for a minor league starting pitcher or an outfielder or catcher. That trims our payroll by about $2.5 million or so, which brings it to around $60 million...and then we should bring in someone like Alex Ochoa or Orlando Palmeiro for the outfield. Position by position C- Olivo/Barret 1B- Konerko 2B- Vidro 3B- Crede SS- Jimenez LF- Cedeno CF- Rowand RF- Maggs DH- Thomas Rotation: Buehrle Colon Astacio Wright Rauch Bullpen: Koch Marte Biddle Wunsch Almonte Glover Bench: Graffanino Barret/Olivo Ochoa or Palmeiro Hummel Yan or Valenzuela or someone else like that I'm not sure this is true at all...but it made so much sense to me at the time, that I figured I'd post it here as well...don't go and make a story or something like that on it now unless you get some clarification or get some actual good source for it. The fact that a Lee for Astacio deal had been rumored made me think about it...this could very well happen. Then again, it may not too.
  19. SEASON ON THE BRINK God how could I forget that? Thank you killa And Cerb...is that why he had no black players on his team, and they were all white?
  20. Cerb, that's exactly what I think of Gammons
  21. *(an empty silence fills the room)* .... *an owl hoots) .... *a cricket chirps* .... Good joke to start it off...but what did you seriously want to say?
  22. Did anyone watch this movie? If so, what did you think of it? I personally thought it was a pretty good movie and it was pretty dramatic...then again, most sports movies are. I am a big fan of sports movies, unless the movies are absolutely terrible....Rookie of the Year and The Fan are very bad baseball movies, IMO. Anyways, I thought it was a good show, but I liked the one with Brian Dennehy as Bob Knight last year more than this one...I can't remember its name though. I really liked that one...a lot.
  23. I don't believe it...but I gotta ask...is there any proof?
  24. Jeez, I didn't know that 2 years was that long ago...the day KW took over was a terrible day...I'm thinking of slightly before that...like maybe September 24th....need a reminder?
