Jeezus it's Jon Garland? The glasses and no little beard thingy on this chin really disguise him well. If he walked around like that in public, no one would recognize him. Well, no one would have in the past, that is...

kieth foulke chimes in on williams - maybe we should get JB

When I was listening to Koch's interview thingy, there were a couple things that made me think that...the bullpen will be good next year. We don't need a little b**** like Foulke in there if that's how he feels. Koch will not only be a mean son of a b**** on the mound, but he could be a joker, a good one that is, in the bullpen. And we get two minor leaguers in the deal...I am actually starting to like it, and think we are getting the better end of the deal....again, the only negative being losing Valentine. -
KW figured out he didn't have to worry about the people at the White Sox website anymore, because everyone left because KW is a pussy who got his feelings hurt by Corg's characature...now he can make moves to destroy the team. HURRY! POST EVERY DAMN INSULTING IMAGE OF KW ON THE WHITE SOX WEBSITE PRONTO!

I knew it was something high....I didn't know it was quite that high....they have atleast 62 rounds? s***, how many rounds do they have overall? 1000? lol

I'd lay all of the blame of Foulke not getting a shot at his closing role again on Manuel...he figured if it ain't broke why fix it? Problem was the season was broken...so why not try different things to make it work again? He never did. However, Foulke lost the job mainly because he blew 3 pretty big games...the Seattle game, the Yankee game and then there was another that is lost from my mind right now. However, if Manuel keeps making moves like the Foulke move(or non-move, whichever you prefer) mentioned above, he will get his ass fired out of town...and there will be a mad crowd behind him with pitchforks and fire...and Manuel won't have a clue what to do. I still like the trade, however....Johnson is a backup catcher...he's a good backup catcher, but that's all he is. Valentine has obviously been good and bad during his minor league career...if he was claimed off waivers from Detroit of all places(I didn't even know that)...and then he pitched like he did. The only thing negative about this trade is the fact that we lost Valentine, IMO. We gain a good closer who we will be able to count on for atleast 3 years, and maybe more, and we get two good minor leaguers to go along with him...we give up Foulke, which frees up some salary, Johnson, which really doesn't both me, and Valentine, which bugs the hell out of me. Isn't Valentine injured? And if so, how bad, because if he is hurt badly, then wouldn't that kill the deal?

There's a reason he won the Reliever of the Year award for the minor leagues....he's pretty damn good. Who cares what round he was drafted in? Mark Johnson was a 1st rounder...he's no Mike Piazza, is he? Speaking of Piazza, wasn't he drafted in about the 38th round of something?
-
That's an average of about 5 innings a start...I hope that's because he's in A ball...because if not, then wouldn't he be another reliever??? We have enough of those.

Last year though KW gave up 1 pitcher that had been highly touted, 1 good pitcher who could be used for anything, and 1 pitcher who was a decent prospect. We got a mediocre to good starting pitcher in return....Dave Littlefield screwed KW royally in that trade. This year KW gave up a closer/set up man who is going to make $6 million next year, a catcher who will never be better than a backup and a very, very promising, but just recently banged up, relief pitcher in the minor leagues who is still unproven(and it's not like the Sox still have a boat load of other prospects) for a closer who will be making about $2.5 million next year with the possibility of his salary doubling. I really, really liked Valentine....I thought he was going to be great for us...maybe he still will be. But I really like this trade because we get a closer who can close out a game for us with or without his good stuff...you saw what happened in Seattle in the 3rd game of the year with Foulke closing it out...he gave up a 3-run lead in the 9th without his good stuff. That's the kind of s*** that can happen...Koch would just blow his gas by them...if they hit a homer, so be it...we still would have been up by 2...and if they hit another homer, we would have been up by 1...he could have given up 4 homers...what are the odds of that? You just won't get a string of hits against Koch...the only way you will get a lot of baserunners is by having him walk them on. I'd call it a wash at the worst(right now...hindsight is always 20-20). I would like to say that I believe KW is taking a step in the right direction to becoming a decent GM....he's still on my X-Mas s*** list though...any moron can make a good trade now and then...

To a minor league deal? I'd do it...and Masato Yoshii was released by the Expos...we could give him a shot too. Baldwin pitched best in a White Sox uniform, but sucked on both the Dodgers and Mariners...maybe it's because he's wearing that uniform and is comfortable in Comiskey. We're not asking them to be saviors...we'd be testing them to see if they could help the big league club. Nothing more, nothing less.

I like it too...just not giving up Valentine. I would have rather given up Stewart and Sanders than Valentine...Valentine is a stud and will be a huge factor for the A's in the future. And I think the A's may not be done with those guys...Valentine and Johnson are there to stay. However, I am thinking that they may deal Foulke elsewhere...a team with some good prospects that needs a good closer/middle reliever... The Phillies could use a better closer than Jose Mesa...and if Smoltz in Atlanta is serious about becoming a starter again, Foulkey could go there...Boston and Texas too... And the Cubbies.......................

Just heard this on ESPNews...Cub/Dodger trade
witesoxfan replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd have to agree with that for the most part. That was basically the point of the whole deal too. -
Koch and Williams interviews Listen to these interviews...Williams sounds like the clown that he is(at one point he says that this is a baseball move...no s***!)...but I think I am going to like this move after all...Koch sounds like a good guy that will only help team chemistry. Even though he looks like a mean son of a b**** on the mound, he was kidding around with the reporters and is a real laid back guy...he also said that while he was talking on the phone with Billy Beane he said "Maybe if I sucked I would have been able to stay." Next year will be fun...we will be pretty good. Forgot to add...don't bother with the story. Soxnet has that for us already.

Let's hope so anyways... As for Johnson being worthless...I disagree heavily. I, along with several others, feel that MJ is a great catcher...if he remains the backup. What kind of role do you think he will take in Oakland? They got him because he will cost less and be better than Greg Myers...who I think we should sign. I'm starting to like this trade...the only negative is losing Joe...that pisses me off, and I would like to slap KW for that.

Anyone wanna know who Godzilla's agent is?
witesoxfan replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Who in the blue hell is FT? Only kidding...I was saying this because it obviously means that Tellem is an agent for big name athletes...he is an agent for a few basketball players and Barry Zito, Jason Giambi and Nomar Garciaparra(and now obviously Hideki Matsui), I believe anyways, for baseball, along with Thomas. It also means that Thomas is, quite possibly, still a household name...or maybe Thomas is just that cocky that he felt he had to hire a big name agent. Who knows... -
I just heard that the Cubs, somehow, some way, convinced the Dodgers to take on Todd Hundley...the Cubs get Eric Karros and Mark Grudzielanek...obviously a cost cutting move, but this also now allows the Cubs to go out and sign IRod. Not only that, but they have backup options in case Hill and Choi fall on their faces....and for backups, they're pretty damn good. This only makes me think that the Cubs are actually going in the right direction. If we want to win a World Series before them, we are going to have to kick it in gear in the next couple years. That team is actually starting to scare me...they are like the f***ing Yanks..they are spending money up the butt like it grows on trees. You don't suppose the Trib actually wants to win, do you?
-
Trade Osuna's ass out of here...I can't stand him. On his glove, it says El Cañon...it shouldn't say that, but rather El Cardiaco...then again, Cañon translates into tube...what the hell?
-
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news/ap/200212...tsui-agent.html Have you ever heard of this Art Tellem guy?
-
We didn't trade Rauch when he was hurt....that looks to be like a good move for the organization....Rauch could be the stud that we are looking for to help fill out the rotation. And if Joe is hurt right now, then why would Selig allow the trade to even happen? Anyways, we have enough pitchers in the organization. If we want a power righty reliever, we got Dan Wright...he could take over there if we really need one, along with Koch that is.

In regards to Thomas, my guess would be his trouble is guarenteed money. What if he gets injured again? This incentive laden contract that has him making a possible $12 million or so(just a made up number) may be only guarentees him $5 million a year...the White Sox could guarentee more than that and he would be faced with a tougher decision. He would most likely not get injured, but there is the possibility...just look at his last 5 years. I don't think it's because his 'skills are diminishing', but rather because of injury. He was fully healthy in 2000....I would take those numbers any day.
-
That is exactly what I said. WHAT THE f*** KW! THIS GUY JUST WON THE MINOR LEAGUE ROLAIDS RELIEF AWARD FOR BEST MINOR LEAGUE PITCHER IN THE ENTIRE MINOR LEAGUES AND YOU GIVE HIM UP FOR s***! KW THE KLUELESS WONDER f***IN SCREWS US AGAIN!

Don't the A's have Esteban German? I thought he was a pretty damn good 2B prospect...and if so, why would they need a backup for him? Ellis is there(and from the great state of South Dakota), and German will eventually take over...what would be the point of Aaron Miles? In case both German and Ellis become s***ty, especially after Ellis has shown success at the major league level? I highly doubt it. We will be keeping Miles, and I think he could turn into a good utility infielder type, much like Graffanino. Stewart wouldn't be bad...but you gotta remember that just because the guy doesn't have good stuff doesn't automatically make him a s***ty pitcher. Buehrle quite possibly has the worst stuff on our starting pitching staff...he's not even close to being the worst pitcher on the staff...in fact, I don't know how the top young pitchers in the AL could be close to the worst on any staff. I don't have a problem with his stuff.

Hence, the comparison to Lou Whitaker. He will probably get it though...he played for the lovable losers and was pretty damn good, so why wouldn't he? Everybody knows how great the Cubs have been over the last 30 years.
-
Last year, the Falcons were not good...they were 7-9, which is most likely better than what the Bears will finish at, but not by much...you have to consider that they got to play Carolina for 2 games, and Carolina only beat Minnesota(hell, my f***ing Bills beat the goddamn Panthers and the Bills were ass terrible last year)...if win one and lose one of those games, they finish 6-10...the year before that, they were a dismal 4-12, and the Bears sure as hell could be better than that this year. In comes Michael Vick, and the Falcons are 8-3-1, and haven't lost since the first week of October. That's pretty damn good....they are going to go to the playoffs and could still go in as a division winner. If you get a QB that can change a game as much as Michael Vick can, a rookie QB can help, and he is virtually a rookie, getting just a few starts last year. If you get a guy that is extremely good as atleast a passer and have a talented group of receivers like the Bears do, and it could mean success down the line, especially with a defense as good as theirs could be. That's MHO anyways...if Cinci picks Leftwich, it could make Kitna available...maybe they'd go after him. Or Slash Stewart in Pittsburgh could be another good option...when he plays well, he is a very good QB, and he is very dangerous with both his arm and legs(and I don't mean punting the ball either).
-
His 3rd post too...congrats!

Yep...just found that out. I was reading the Inside Dish put out by Ken Rosenthal and it compared Ryne Sandberg to Lou Whitaker(what a coincidence!). Anyways, it basically said that other than Ryne's 9 gold gloves and his 84 MVP, they had very similar careers. When he was first on the ballot, Whitaker failed to receive the 5% of the votes necessary. 5% it is.
