  1. I'd take O'Leary...he's left-handed and offers some power from that side of the plate. He's a little spendy for platoon time, but if we ditched Lee along the line somewhere, it would make for an interesting left-field battle in ST. In that case....how about Biddle, Ginter, Porzio and Wright for Colon and O'Leary? And then somewhere along the line we trade Lee...and then we sign Shinjo.
  2. Not as much as the Ritchie and Wells trades, but it is....what if Guerrier turns into some stud pitcher who is lights out for the Bucs and Marte turns out to be some guy who is absolutely terrible....he is just as he was earlier in his career. He did the safer option of trading for him rather than letting him go through waivers, but you get the point. People may not agree with me, but I believe it was a risky move. What if Ritchie had been lights out and Wells, Fogg and Lowe all sucked, like Lowe did? People may not consider it a roll of the dice. However, he was faced with a task....we were probably going to need a lefty as Wunsch wasn't ready to pitch, so he went out and got one. He's a determined GM....maybe too determined.
  3. I figured I'd give a crack at it....he's good to understand it. And roman...trust me, I'm in somewhat the same situation you are in. See, I have this cheerleader that lives next door to me, and she is quite the babe, and she's a nice girl too. I just haven't gotten the chance to talk to her yet since she just moved in.
  4. There is a joke behind the doorknob term....doorknob and bicycle are basically the same thing in terms of talking about girls. When someone says "She is the town doorknob" it is usually accompanied by "Everyone gets a turn." When someone says "She is the town bicycle", it is usually accompanied by "Everyone gets a ride."
  5. Hold on here for a second....let's just disregard anything KW has said about getting a named pitcher for next year. In the article that was printed in the Trib, didn't he say he was willing to quote, "roll the dice?" Do you remember the last 3 times he tried to "roll the dice?" He got us Wells who was out my mid-June, he got us Ritchie who I would trade right now for a sack of s***(atleast it smells better than Todd pitches), and we got lucky with Marte....he had suffered from a whole bunch of injuries in his past, and at one point during the year he was suffering from a dead arm. KW scares the hell out of me when he "rolls the dice."
  6. Wright has been the most inconsistent pitcher on the staff. I like him and his stuff, but as for him compared to Colon, it's not even close. Wright had the potential to be a very good starter...however, the best he will probably become is a good #3. He just doesn't have the knack for pitching that Buehrle does, or he isn't as good as Colon....he has good stuff, but the best pitch he has is his knuckle curve...he's got a fastball that's got good natural movement and a pretty good changeup. If he could harness his stuff and use it to the best of his ability, I would love to have a guy like him on the staff. After all that, you have to look at the minor leagues....we have Honel, Rauch and Diaz waiting in the wings, Garland and Buehrle at the major league level and possibly Colon coming in from a different area. If I count right, that is 6 pitchers, and all of them are more highly regarded than Danny. And all 6 of them could be in the White Sox organization next year. Danny isn't even on the scale. Good stuff he has, but he's just not good enough. Maybe a location change will be better for him. I love to see the players that we ship away succeed(so long as the player we got in return suceeds as well, f***ing Ritchie....s***). It let's the other team do buisness in a better manner from there on out. I bet the Cubs and White Sox don't swing another deal, unless it is a minor league swap or something like that, for atleast 5 years and maybe even 10 or 20. The Sox gave the Cubs Sosa for Bell....and the Cubs gave the Sox Garland for Karchner. Garland could still put up huge numbers for the Sox, much like Sosa struggled right away with the Cubs(compared to now anyways). You get the point. All I'm saying is that right now, if we went into the season with Colon, Buehrle, Garland, Honel, Rauch, Diaz and Wright all being able to pitch at the major league level, Wright would be atleast 7th on the depth chart and possibly even farther down. Malone could pass him on it too.
  7. let's see if it works
  8. Just thought of another too....Lee, Wright and Honel/Rauch/Diaz/Garland. I'd prefer to send them Diaz, mainly because he has not been with the system as long and we have not put as much effort and such into him as we have Honel and Rauch, and Garland has some experience and is only going to be 23 this next year. As much as I think Diaz could be the next great pitcher, there is always the risk of him injuring himself and killing his career, much like Lorenzo Barcelo did. The deal I think will happen is Lee, Wright, Rauch and Ginter....as much as I hate to say it. That is probably the deal KW will make....it will be something close to that anyways.
  9. Ain't going to the D-Backs....they got enough pitching and are looking to land Maddux too. I think their payroll is a little too high anyways. As for the Dodgers....they're still trying to cut payroll. I don't see how they could swing a deal with the Expos to get Colon. San Fran probably won't....they have a smart GM in Brian Sabean and he probably thinks right now "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" San Diego is going with the youth development thing...and why not? They have some pitchers that have decent stuff out their in SD....they should get another bat. They'd be half decent then. Colorado could, but I wouldn't look for them to do it. HSC, I do have to say that if KW wants him bad enough, he will get him. He wanted Todd Ritchie and he overpaid for him. He wanted David Wells and got him. He wanted Royce Clayton and got him. The only thing I'm worried about is if a team bluffs that they are going after Colon and KW jacks his bid way the hell up. Someone could say they are pursuing Colon and say that an offer of(let's say we're the Twins right now) Torii Hunter, Jacque Jones and Grant Balfour is on the table and the Twins will throw in $5,000,000 in compensation. If KW falls for this bluff, he may end up packaging Honel and Rauch....which is scary as s*** if you ask me. That is worse than the thought of Maggs being traded. Those two could be the Johnson and Schilling of the future, plus if we have Buehrle and Garland....holy s***. And if Diaz is as good as Ramon Ortiz is out in Anaheim....shiiiit I've got to say that one of Honel, Rauch, Diaz and Garland will be traded to Montreal if the deal is done. Mark my words.
  10. We give them Lee, Wright, Majewski, Ginter and Porzio for Colon and Henry Mateo. They get all of the above because they could use all of the above....Lee in LF or have him learn and play 1B, Wright in the rotation to "replace" Colon, Majewski and Porzio to go to the bullpen and Ginter to be a swingman type for them. We get Colon for the obvious reason of we need a big time starter. We would also get Henry Mateo in case Hummel and Harris flop and Jimenez has to take over at SS. Mateo is a leadoff type hitter who has a lot of speed and most likely some decent defense. The bad thing about him is the fact that he's nearly 27....not that he's old or anything, but for him to have not cracked into the big leagues fulltime means there has been some problems over there....maybe it's because Vidro is so good and he can't play SS or that he simply is not major league material. However, the least this would do is give us some insurance in case someone gets hurt or we need some speed or Harris and Hummel flop and Miles signs elsewhere.
  11. That's rather sad. Chicago is 3rd in the nation with Asians and yet only one team has a real Asian on it, and Hee Seop Choi will just be ready to start this year for the Cubs. If we got Godzilla....we would have an attendance of 40,000 on average too. JR would be a happy man.
  12. Holy s***....you got Helton and Durazo, back-to-back, plus if Charles Johnson returns to his 2000 form, Preston Wilson returns to his 2000 form, Matt Williams returns to decent form, Jack Cust playing well and up to his potential, and of course, the ever powerful Greg Norton....the Rockies could return to the form that got them their one and only playoff birth. That's kinda the way you have to play in Colorado....with a whole s***load of power up and down the lineup. 1. Uribe - SS 2. Wilson - CF 3. Helton - 1B 4. Durazo - RF 5. Cust - LF 6. Johnson - C 7. Williams - 3B 8. Ortiz/Ozuna - 2B 9. Pitcher As I said...power up and down the lineup. Everyone from 2-7 could hit 25 homers, and 1 & 8 are used to get on base. The pitcher has to bat, otherwise they would be THE perfect AL team. However, they are loaded with left-handed power....they wouldn't mind giving up one of Cust or Durazo for some pitching....afterall, they also have Payton and Kabler who are in need of a job. I would actually expect one of Cusst or Durazo to be gone by the end of December, probably during the Winter Meetings. It wouldn't be a bad thing to get either one of them for say Ginter and Biddle, or maybe they'd take Corwin Malone.
  13. Could put up those numbers? He would put up those numbers if he stayed healthy. In 222 at-bats, he had a .260ish average with 16 homers and 48 RBI. He also had 49 walks and 60 K's. Those are some pretty good numbers, and would be much better than Lee's numbers. The fact that he hasn't even developed into the player he could be is what I like the most too. I feel this is a guy that could hit .300 with 45 bombs and 120 RBI on a regular basis for us if we were to trade for him. If we got him we would most certainly be in a good situation. We would have Carlos Lee available through trade, and I bet alot of teams are salivating to have a bat like Carlos's in their lineup, especially if he can put up the numbers he did this year over a full year....that translates to about a .280 35 110 season...the things that don't show up in stats, however, are the fact that he is a bonehead baserunner and that he plays mediocre defense, has limited range, and is really a dumb ballplayer. If he played smarter, he would be an untouchable player....he could put up huge numbers, numbers much like Maggs. Something tells me Maggs is as close to untouchable as they come.
  14. Valentin will make $5 million next year....there is a difference between Carlos and Jose money wise, though it may be small, and the Expos are looking to cut as much salary as possible. Not only that, but if we get rid of Jose, we have few options behind him....we have Jimenez or Graffanino who can play SS(Graffy is a utility infielder, so I needed to include him) and then we have Willie Harris, Tim Hummel and Aaron Miles(if we resign him) at 2B....in the outfield, if we get rid of Lee, we have Borchard, Liefer, Rowand, Sanders, Valenzuela, (Chad) Durham, Ingram, or we could even sign someone that is cheap and practically in the books, such as Jose Canseco(which would be reaching). Plus not every team can afford a power hitting shortstop like Jose can. However, a power hitting outfielder is a lot easier to find, especially with numbers close to Carlos's. Hell, I figure Rowand can put up those kind of numbers someday. That and the fact that the Expos have Orlando Cabrera at SS, though I have heard he is being shopped around.
  15. Shinjo has great defense, doesn't strike out a lot and has some power. Not as much speed, but he'd be a decent player, and I'd call him above average. And the fact that he is Oriental is all the more reason to get him....it would be a nice thing for the Oriental people of Chicago to actually have someone to go see. You can tell that works by looking at the Mariners....they have two of the best Japanese players to come to America in Ichiro and Kaz, and they are averaging(the key word is averaging there) over 40,000 fans a game. I would guess nearly a quarter of them are Asian. I still think if we could get Matsui, either of them, it would be a great move, but I think Hideki Matsui would be the better move, and as I said, it would pay for itself.
  16. And then after they asked what the score was, you could say "0-0" and they'd think you were right. 20 seconds later it would dawn on them that they scored a run because SamME would have just finished rounding the bases blowing kisses to whoever he blows kisses to.
  17. So are you saying that she's the town doorknob?
  18. Oh jeez, what a loser! He doesn't even know the difference between an orgasm and an orgy!
  19. Durazo would be good. I remember Tony Gwynn breaking his swing down(and Tony Gwynn would probably know a thing or two about how to swing a baseball bat ) and he actually compared Durazo as a hitter to Barry Bonds. Durazo hits for power, he has a good eye at the plate, and he's left-handed. This would be a pretty good move for the Sox. This would work wonders if Lee was traded....that would open a spot up in left field for him, and he can't be worse than Lee in LF, can he?
  20. If we signed him you could expect atleast a 500,000 boost in attendance, even if he didn't start. The Asian fans of Chicago would have someone to see now, whether or not he is in fact that good. I think it would be a great move to sign Shinjo. Now if we could sign Hideki Matsui, that would be frickin incredible. We would have atleast 1,000,000 fans show up this year, if not more and we'd actually have another good bat in the lineup, and the better part is is the fact that he is lefthanded and he plays CF. If he would come here that would be good, but from what I've heard, he wants to play on the east coast. Think about it...we'd get a powerful lefty in the lineup who would bring in attendance and plays a position that we could use. We WOULD be the best offensive team in the majors, we'd have a pretty balanced lineup, a good pitching staff, and over 2.5 million in attendance. It seems like the perfect move, IMO. Doesn't JR realize that that move would pay itself off in the end?
  21. If the Cubs won the World Series, the opening on the Tribune's sports page would cover it. In about 10 inches of the newspaper it would say "CUBS WIN" in big black bold letters, accompanied by a picture with SamME holding up the trophy, that being about 9 inches tall and page width wide, and then a 4 inch story that follows that. Slightly below in the lower left hand corner, it would say "Sox something or another." If the Sox won the Series, it would say "SOX WIN" in big black bold letters that are about 2 inches, a picture of the team celebrating that is 5x5, and then a 6 inch story. Down below there would be a 7 1/2 inch article about the Chubs f***ing sucked once again. Sounds about right.
  22. Colon is making somewhere in the range of $6-8 million next year....Carlos at about $4 million. $2-4 million isn't that much, but if the Expos get some good pitching from us(maybe Ginter, Biddle, Adkins, Majewski, Almonte....you get the gist of it) or maybe someone like Felix Diaz(who scares the s*** out of me....remember Barcelo?), I think they would go for it....if they took Lee, Ginter and Wright for Colon, which they might as it involves Lee, who is probably the main part of the deal, Ginter who would be a good pitcher out of the pen for them and Wright who is a good, but inconsistent starter...I think that would be good too. Colon for Lee, ______, and ______(fill in the blank with a pitcher we have unless his last name starts with Bu, he played high school ball in Illinois, or he is the tallest pitcher in the MLB in history).
  23. Slow drivers, people that smack their gum, people who are too stupid to realize that the directions are right there, people who say the low score first when it is incorrect(eg. The Tigers lost to the Sox 3 to 6....the Bears got the motherf***ing s*** kicked out of them again 7 to 57, etc)...and Cubs fans.
  24. I wanted to get Ochoa anyways....when Rowand comes back and is healthy and playing well again, that gives us a good 4th outfielder/pinch hitter/pinch runner option off the bench. That would be a pretty good move IMO.
  25. So that's where MC Hammer went to. You suppose that's why he gives Oakland so many good deals? Damn former Oakland bat-boy. And didn't MC Hammer go bankrupt, or get really poor along the way sometime during his life? KW: "You can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents." - If he is MC Hammer, that would be him talking about his former life....he couldn't get that candy bar at the local C-Store because he only had the 50 cents he had on the ground.
