  1. If those 4 fell on their faces, we'd still have Hummel for 2B, Harris for CF, MJ and JP for C(scary as hell, but it is a reality), and if we want offense from 3B over good defense, than we can put Graffanino or Liefer at 3B. That and the fact that we'd have Colon and Buehrle each going once in the 5-man rotation, Garland, who is developing into a pretty good pitcher, Wright, who is inconsistent but good for being inconsistent, and Ritchie/Rauch/Biddle for the #5 slot. That and the fact that we still would have Thomas, Maggs, Konerko, Valentin and Lee in the lineup and you have some pretty damn good production right there. Plus Edwin Yan, who we got in one of the Pittsburgh trades, I believe the Marte deal, because we got a catcher in the Ritchie deal and Yan is a leadoff type hitter. Regardless, if we were to go under your plan, and say that the Red Sox, Yankees, and Blue Jays are in it in the east, the M's, A's and Angels in the west, the Braves, Mets, Expos, and Phillies in the NL East, the Cards, Reds, and Astros in the NL Central, and the D-Backs, Giants, and Dodgers in the NL West, what does that leave us? 4 teams in our division, whom we won't deal with, the Orioles, the D-Rays, the Rangers, the Marlins, the Bucs, the Cubs, the Brewers, the Rockies and the Padres...the only two teams who have pitchers that I would make a deal with are the Cubs and Marlins, and maybe the Orioles, and the Cubs probably wouldn't strike a deal with us, since two very lobsided deals have come out(Bell-Sosa and Karchner-Garland[this one will be in the future...I can tell]). That leaves us with the Marlins and Orioles, and the fish have AJ Burnett and Brad Penny, and those are basically the only two I'd even consider. The Orioles have Scott Erickson who I might consider and maybe Sidney Ponson...that's it. We're better off picking one up now and then trading him at the deadline and getting a ton in return, if we failed miserably. The Mariners had had Randy Johnson for a long time previous to this, but look what happened in 1998 or whenever it was that Johnson was traded...he had half a year to go and was traded to Houston for Freddy Garcia, Carlos Guillen and John Halama. All 3 are pretty good players and Freddy Garcia slumped from the sophomore slump this past year...I bet he is back to his old self next year. If we traded Colon to a contender at the deadline, we could get quite a bit in return, if our bone-headed GM is thinking right. Either way, I will be happy next year. Maybe we should just make no moves and go into next year as is and play it out like we did in 2000. If we sucked, we'd atleast get a high draft pick...and then we could stink up the joint again and get another high draft pick...rinse, rather, repeat, I guess.
  2. Wright hasn't shown me anything except signs of brilliance...his career ERA is over 5.00, he gives up a ton of homers, and he's 25...that's not old, but players are usually as good as they are going to be at around the age of 27...I don't think he can improve much more. Lee is a good hitter, but that's it. He is mediocre to bad in the field, a dips*** as a baserunner, and rarely has productive outs, and one type of productive outs, hitting the ball to the right side with a runner on 2nd, is not recorded. I rarely see Lee do that...then again, I rarely see the games. Ginter, Majewski and Porzio are relievers, and they would take them...Majewski is pretty damn good as is Ginter, and Porzio would be a good lefty out of the pen, but we have plenty of relief prospects...we still have Sanders, Stewart, Adkins, Valentine, Almonte, Munoz, and Diaz or Honel could be used out of the pen as well, though I'd be against that more than I would for it. We can part with those 3. As for Colon, he'll be 30 this year, and is in the middle of his prime. He pitched extremely well this year and won 20 games, 10 with both the Indians and Expos. Colon is a consistently good pitcher who throws hard and has playoff experience, and has experience pitching well in the playoffs. His ERA in the playoffs is 3.29 and it was below 2.00 in 1998 and 2001. You don't think Montreal would do that? They would complete their outfield, having it be Lee, Endy Chavez and Guerrero from left to right...they would have Jose Macias at 3B and Brad Wilkerson at 1B. The Expos could be very good next year, and have no need for 2B Mateo...we could take him. Or if they don't want to give him to us for just that, that's fine with me...we don't need him. They would have a good starting rotation with Wright maybe finding consistency with a location change, and Ginter, Majewski and Porzio become good relievers for them. They would want to deal with us again, which is a very, very good thing.
  3. Slim would be the correct term....I was just stating a scenario. Who knows...maybe if he pitched that well in Chitown(on the South Side, that is), he could win 19 games if he pitched like he did in 98. In LA he was used as both a starter and a reliever. Here he would be used as just a starter, unless there would be an emergency when he was needed, say, maybe going into the 16th inning or so and he was on 2 or 3 days rest. A rotation of Buehrle, Garland, Daal, Wright and Rauch wouldn't be too terribly bad....it wouldn't be good, but the top 3 would all be capable of ERA's under 4. Wright could be under 4.50 and Rauch could be anywhere from 3.00 to 5.00...and if you add a little Colon in there, there would be a sweet smell in the air of Chicago(get it?...oh god is that bad!). If the Sox did get Colon, which probably won't happen, Wright and Rauch would battle it out for the #5 spot...that's what would happen if I was coach.
  4. There was another little blip of it on a Yahoo! article I read too....that's about it though. Said he narrowly avoided a confrontation. Scared the s*** out of me to see Chicago White Sox in that story after just glancing over it, and then seeing the name Magglio Ordonez....that's the kind of s*** that can get you killed. I hope Magglio realizes that now too.
  5. First things first are cw, he pitched terrible that year and pitched for two mediocre offenses. We are among the major league's best. He won't lose 19 games....I guarentee it. If we signed him and he won 19 games, would you be able to get over that 19 loss season?
  6. Get Colon or Vazquez, and then get whoever is cheaper out of Daal and Moyer...that's the way I'd do it.
  7. Just figured something out....O'Leary and Cordero are both FA's...so they won't be trading us any of them. Not only that, but including those two, IF we did trade for Colon(HSC, don't jump on me just yet ), and you include both Cordero and O'Leary and Lee is part of the Colon deal, wouldn't that be about $11.5-$13.5 million off their salary?
  8. Here is a quote right from the (old) horse's mouth, Don Baylor(from an MLB story earlier in the year): "For 27 innings, it feels like the playoffs and World Series to me because of the attention to detail that you have," Baylor said. "They bring their fans, we bring our fans and it's split. It's similar to the Cubs-Cardinals series. It's the exact same pressure." Here's the story And I'd like to ask you something...if I thought you had problems for liking the Cubs at all and that's the only reason, would you be fine with that?
  9. One person that did the opposite was John Rocker in '01....he blew up in Cleveland. Jermaine Dye comes to mind right away. Scott Brosuis did too. And Jose and Cal did it in 2000....goddamn 2000 was fun....I wanna ride again....
  10. Matsui would be an incredible pickup...and I still think the move would pay for itself. If he signed him, we'd get more Oriental players into the stadium, and we'd be getting a good player so he's help us win. One more starter and a Matsui landing(doubtful, but hopeful ) and we'd have the White Sox players drenching each other in champagne....but not the champagne where the Bears are playing right now...that would be cool though. Imagine someone saying "I got drenched in champagne in Champagne." It would go right over their heads. Anyways, Bartolo and Matsui....we'd be frickin unstoppable. No one would stand a chance...we'd win 105 games in our weak division, and that'd set a new White Sox single season win record too. Add a little Moyer(get it....Moyer, like more with a 'y' in there)and we'd be a World Series contender.
  11. So are you telling me that around 90% of Sox fans have problems and about 98% of Cardinal fans have problems? Or that 92% of Astro fans have problems? There are plenty of people that don't like the Cubs, myself included. That would be like a Red Sox fan talking to a group of Yankee fans saying "If you don't like the Red Sox then you have problems." How f***ing stupid does that sound? People like some teams and don't like others. That's that. You can't say people have to like so-and-so just because you like them. That's not the way human nature works. I personally like classic rock and rap of today....I hate heavy metal and early 90s rap. Does that mean that other people HAVE to like classic rock and today's rap and hate heavy metal and early 90s rap? Hell no. I personally can't stand the Cubs, and it's mainly because of their fans. It is the same reason I don't like the Twins or Indians. If you don't like someone, you won't like what they like with a passion. Just because you're a Chicago fan doesn't mean you have to be a fan of both teams. You think Mets fans like the Yankees and Yankee fans like the Mets?
  12. They contacted their agents, but I believe that's as far as it went. They seem to be talking to Matsui's agents....why the f*** do they need a f***ing all-star at every f***ing position? Can't they play normal baseball, like normal teams, with at the most 3 all-stars? And are they too f***ing stupid to realize that their starting pitching sucked ass in the playoffs, and that maybe that's an area where they need some help? s***, even Kenny Williams, the Klueless Wonder could even figure that out. The Yankees scored about 900 runs last year. Something tells me they have enough goddamn offense. What they need is bullpen pitching. So why the hell are we talking to Stanton instead of them? If the luxury tax hadn't been created, they would sign Frank Thomas to a 3-year $50 million deal to be their backup bat-boy....maybe not, but they could afford it. Speaking of the devil, I wonder how much their bat-boy makes? Probably around $500,000
  13. I saw the Giants did contact his agent...maybe things didn't work out so well. And maybe Perez will only be a defensive replacement...and if that occured, that would be one of the saddest things to happen in the MLB status wise...Neifi Perez, from a gold glove winner to a reserve infielder in 2 years....that's what happens when you go from a good place(or somewhat good...that being Colorado) to a bad place(that being KC). Look what happened to Greg Vaughn....can you believe this guy hit 95 homers in consecutive seasons within the past 5 years, including 50 in '98 ? This year.... .163 8 29 in 251 AB's....82 K's too. And people thought Thomas had fallen from the ranks....
  14. FYI, forget Perez. He was claimed by the Giants. That means the Giants have no intention of keeping Jeff Kent to stick around and play 2B.
  15. 3.90 ERA and11-9 is pretty good, but isn't the answer. However, he may be what we have to settle for. Unless KW wants to sign him and Moyer... I really want Moyer over any other lefty, but Daal would do. And the main pitcher I want to get, who we won't get in all likeliness, is Colon....we need a power pitcher, and a real power pitcher, in the rotation. We will eventually have atleast 2-3 in the next couple years, but if we want to win now, he is the pitcher we need.
  16. The Cubs would be lucky as hell to win 81 next year. They are going to have to get a hell of a lot more luck to win 90 or 95. Plus they have to worry about the Cardinals, Astros, and next year, the Reds....I believe the Reds will be pretty competitive next year, moreso than this year. I think that if Cinci can unload Sean Casey somewhere, I would predict them to win the Central....they would have an outfield of Wily Mo Pena, Ken Griffey Jr and Austin Kearns with Adam Dunn at 1B. Not only that but if Boone can play well at 3B again and Walker and Larkin can put up good numbers again, they will be a tough team to beat, especially with a lot of good pitching. And if the Pirates can get some help offensively, they could be a good team too. They have a good pitching staff(and I wonder who they can thank for that...) and a good bullpen and closer. They just need someone to help Brian Giles. As long as the Sox win, I won't give a s*** about the NL Central. All I'm really worried about is the AL Central, the Twins in particular.
  17. Unless Todd Ritchie is considered a front line starter
  18. No....the part about how I knew what the difference between an orgy and an orgasm were in 1st grade...I wasn't talking about that other stuff. I as joking around with that too.
  19. The Mariners released Paul Abbott today....and it would not surprise me in the slightest if KW picked him up, and to a major league deal too. If it was to a minor league deal it wouldn't be so bad, but knowing KW, he'll try to add by subraction. Is this the type of move some were talking about? If it is, I can almost feel another Todd Ritchie performance coming on...
  20. I'll have to ask baggio personally sometime about why he is so down on our bullpen...I personally think next year we will have one of the best bullpens in the AL. The only problem we have is the fact that no one knows what they are supposed to do, and that is a problem of managment, not the pitchers themselves. Are the 6 bullpen pitchers (because I believe that's all we will need next year) going to have a meeting and determine who does what? No...that is the job of the manager and pitching coach. With Glover, Osuna, Foulke, Marte, Wunsch, Ginter, Biddle and Porzio, I believe 3-4 of them have to be sent away....Foulke will be if he has to be used as a middle reliever because the fact remains that he is too expensive to be doing that. However, I believe he will be the closer again next year. I am thinking we have got to get rid of Osuna...not only will he be making around $3 million, but he is not that great of a pitcher. He does have some pop on his fastball...maybe the Rockies would take him and someone else for Durazo? Ginter can be moved as well in that deal....that opens up two spots. Porzio is a decent pitcher, and maybe we could get a decent prospect for him, so I think he needs to go to a team that needs a lefty out of the pen. How about Tampa Bay? That leaves us with 1 open spot for another pitcher to come up, and it should be between Almonte, Majewski and Valentine...Biddle, Wunsch, Glover or Foulke could be moved as well, and if the price is right, Marte too. If I had to make aa contreversial prediction right now, I would bet that by 2005 we don't have any of the pitchers we have in our bullpen now, and the only person I would say I have the most amount of doubt leaving would be whoever takes over the closer's job, whether it be Foulke or Marte. With Ring, Almonte, Valentine, Majewski, Munoz and Adkins, we have a full bullpen and it would be a damn good one too. It wouldn't be great, but I think it could be in the top 5 in the league and top 10 in the majors...a great bullpen is in the top 3 in the league and the top 5 in the majors. As you said....we have bullpen prospects up the butt. I could trade any of them.
  21. That was my theory earlier in the year when I got to thinking about it. It would make no sense to bring in a pitcher with a big breaking ball who can barely top 90 on the radar gun....a pitcher like Barry Zito may not fare as well in Coors as say a Randy Johnson. Both are great lefties, but Coors would put that type of effect on Zito that he would pitch poorly. If they both played in Florida, where there is a lot of heavy, humid air where the ball would stay in the ballpark, I would rather have a Zito over a Johnson, because Johnson would give up the long ball more often, though neither would give up a lot of homers. I bet we could get Durazo for just Joe Valentine, but I know that HSC would be against that...shes pretty high on Valentine.
  22. Well, I've talked to her. I just haven't had a long conversation with her. I'll get to that point eventually. Personally....I'd keep waving. I mean is there is a hotass chick waving to you, it obviously means she likes you, whether or not she wants to get in your pants. Relationships like that can make people stronger. And then if you think about it, even if she does want you, you can be proud....you just beat out about 20 other guys for a hot cheerleader(and a lot of times you do have to include the word hot....around here you do anyways). That is something to celebrate for. Just remember the possible consequences if Mr. Peepee comes out prepared and ready to go hard at work....of course, we're about the same age and would never think of anything like that....
  23. Yes you do....that is the difference. There are a hell of a lot of orgasms at orgys. Jeez I knew that when I was l in like 1st grade...lol. And of course I'm kidding....you didn't think I was serious about my last comment did you?
