  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 20, 2013 -> 05:17 PM) What does that have to do with having a job for life as team President? I simply said he does not deserve a job forever as long as JR is the owner. I think Williams is a fine candidate. He's a great ambassador for the White Sox, has a great feel for baseball, has a good eye for talent, and he's not trading away minor leaguers anymore.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 20, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) I'm surprised Beckham playing SS isn't being talked about more. There's no reason to talk about it, and looking into it as anything more than getting Beckham playing time is reading into it too much. He'd be a mediocre (at best) defensive shortstop at the MLB level and his bat doesn't play well enough to make up for the glove. He's good at 2B. The Sox played him there because they would appear to be grooming Sanchez to play 2B in the future because he's in the exact same boat as Beckham with different hit tools. Beckham needs less work on his defense at 2B, so they put him at SS because they primarily care about him getting his feet under him and his bat back into swing.
  3. Axelrod has turned into a pretty damn fine pitcher.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 20, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) Weird game in CLE. Both teams blow leads in the 9th, SEA takes the lead by one in the 10th (Smoak homer) and then, three batters later, little heralded Yan Gomes wins it with yet another home walkoff for the Indians (this time against former Tiger Charlie Furbush, who has no business trying to close a game even in extra innings). 6 1/2 behind CLE now, the hottest team in baseball, 20-7 their last 27 games and playing the best of any team in the majors during this current stretch. I've seen this movie before. It doesn't end well for Cleveland.
  5. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 20, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) I do remember that and it... kinda seemed to work although this season? Er, not so much... Dunn is fine. He struggled at the beginning of the year, but his numbers are on the way up now.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) Probably not a conspiracy or anything but Indiana v Memphis would be one of the lowest rated finals ever. But it would be an awesome series to watch
  7. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 17, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) It's nice having won 3 straight and Sale and Peavy are throwing in the two of the next 3 games. Hector's no slouch either. This is the most opportune time for a run. It'd be nice to get 5 out of 6 or even 6 out of 6 and come home against the BoSox and warm weather. I still really don't believe the Red Sox are that good. After this weekend, their schedule will have included 9 games against the Blue Jays, 4 against the Astros, and 7 against the Twins (and they're only 2-3 against Minnesota this year). They have not had a difficult schedule thus far.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 17, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) Now Gronk needs back surgery. I'd have to start questioning whether this guy will ever be the monster he was two years ago again. This is all likely due to the syphillis he caught from that porn star.
  9. If I am interpreting what Steve says correctly, he is suggesting that Kevin Love is a girly manchild who needs a blanky to sleep at night and that, yes, in fact, I (as in wite) am a better low post defender. About right?
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 17, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) If you are still making references to a trade 13 years after it happened, then you have some kind of serious bias for or against some person or organization involved in that trade, and I don't need to bother wasting my time reading your opinions. It seems to me that it's brought up to him more often than him blurting it out. I mean, he had all the right in the world to be bitter in this Q&A from like 5 years ago, and his response shows none of that other than "one of the worst shoulder injuries I've ever seen" http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/25559 Beyond that, he wasn't even in Toronto's organization at the time of the trade. Neither was Ricciardi, who was the GM that hired him in Toronto. Williams made that trade with Gord Ash, who was fired later that year. I don't know that Law necessarily ever liked Williams, but he has literally no reason to be upset about the Mike Sirotka situation.
  11. Why don't you do a monkey totem pole with the top monkey grabbing a banana (nevermind the fact that monkeys can climb)
  12. +1 It's funny stuff when you start literally LOLing at work
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 17, 2013 -> 12:14 PM) Are you sure you want Chris Davis and Adam Dunn on the same team? If Chris Davis keeps hitting a million homers, I'm ok with it.
  14. I honestly just don't think he ever really liked the Sox system, and it's not like they've proven him wrong. There are a few throughout that we could look at, but I think the biggest one he was wrong on was Dan Hudson, and then Hudson's elbow ended up exploding. He never said he didn't like Sale, he just said he didn't see him making it as a starter. He's been proven wrong thus far, and I'm grateful for that.
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 17, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) Orioles seem like a great fit since they've publicly claimed they seek a frontline starter. There's not a ton in that system behind Bundy and Gausman, however, and they stated those two are untouchable. Konerko and Peavy for Chris Davis. I'm OK with this.
  16. I think there are a lot of middle to large market teams that could take him on. The question is whether it's worth it or not. Like, I think the Pirates could find room for him if they agreed upon a trade, but with as much pitching as they have both at the MLB level and coming up through the system, there's no real need to make that trade. The Brewers could use him too, but being in last place, they probably aren't gonna make that trade. They might be the weirdest team in the league. They have 3 of the best players in the league thus far - Gomez, Segura, and Braun - and only the Astros and Marlins have fewer wins.
  17. You could do pigs f***ing each other. I heard the female pig's orgasm lasts for 30 minutes
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 17, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) Again, take the article in its proper context...it's their "Contributor Network." It's not written by Jeff Passan. I understand, but nobody on here is writing articles about how the Sox should pick up Jose Bautista (or whoever). When the team is 5 below .500 and it's mid-May, you should not be writing articles about picking up players from other teams.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) A lot of teams have already spent the funds budgeted for the season or very close to it. Trading Peavy would require teams to pick up 6-7 million in salary this season. It would limit the amount of suitors and probably also limit the return. I think, given the circumstances that would come with trading Jake Peavy, owners get a little looser with their pockets to try and make that extra postseason push. I don't think there would be any shortage of suitors, nor do I think there would be any reason for the White Sox to chip in money. That said, this article is incredibly premature and should not have been written. As I suggested, the Dodgers are in worse shape than the Sox right now, the Sox have played much better of late, and it's May. If this were written in June, I'd have a hard time arguing with it. As is, it's a mistimed article.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) yea, i thought i remembered that ankle giving him trouble. didnt realize it was always and forever Kinda like a diamond
