  1. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) David Wright is now off the market which might affect how teams look at Youk. Link: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2012/11/30/exc...year-extension/ David Wright was never really on the market to begin with.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 08:32 AM) Typical NBA hypocrisy: Cousins gets a 2 game suspension for “approaching” an announcer. Rondo gets a 2 game suspension for “punching” another player. Complete joke. I'm pretty sure Stern's public reasoning would be that Rondo's suspension was less because he plays for the Boston Celtics and is a more well-known player than Cousins.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) She filed a police report. It was made public. The allegation was unwanted contact to her clothed breasts and genitals, but all the ND haters ignored that and started throwing around the word 'rape', because the ND haters are a bunch of sheep who believe everything they read that is the slightest bit negative about ND without looking it up themselves. Oh, so they didn't rape her, they just unconsentually felt her up. Sounds like everything's good, glad we got that cleared up.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 08:13 AM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Liked #Twins’ return of Meyer for 3 years of Span, BUT some execs think it wasn’t enough. #Mets got Zack Wheeler for 2 months of Beltran. Comparing Denard Span and Carlos Beltran? Really? I mean, I think they should have gotten a little more, but I'm sure they tried too. If you like the return, then say it and don't compare Span to Beltran.
  5. QUOTE (pktmotion @ Nov 30, 2012 -> 01:18 AM) Chris Volstad? 1st Rounder in 2005, possibly dropped by KC. That would be one of the worst moves they could make. Hochevar is a big whatever, who cares, jesus I hope he's not expensive but he's worth a shot. It would depend upon what they'd get for Floyd.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) Kaepernick or Schaub? You'd think Schaub is the easy start against the Titans. But the Titans are so bad that I'm afraid the Texans will blow them out early and run the ball the whole game. Kaepernick. Never a doubt.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) I thought we signed Floyd to solidfy agood rotation? Now they want alower cost guy who can win maybe 4 or 5 games and cost less? Nonsensical If nothing else, you're consistent.
  8. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) Span gone, Raburn gone and possibly Bruce Chen. This is already a pretty decent offseason even without any Sox moves. None? Blake Tekotte is all the move they need
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) A guy I know was holding back tears the other day. His GF of 2 years or so who is 23 told him it was over. She had met a guy at the school she works at. The new lover/boyfriend is 35 with 3 kids, one as old as 9. The guy I know is 25 or 26, no kids, nothing like that. What is your take? Don't look back, don't ever take her back.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 03:34 PM) Twins trade Denard Span to Nats for Alex Meyer YESSS!!! For this year maybe. Meyer was a 1st round pick and put up some really good numbers this year, and now they can see if Ben Revere turns into a really good leadoff hitter. Span's a good hitter, but he's a flawed player. He's fast but can't steal bases, shaky defensively at times, doesn't always hit for great average, no real power to speak of. I'd take him on the Sox, but really I think Ben Revere, with even less power than Span, is probably going to end up being a better player.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) We have plenty of bad relievers. I'd be all for a total reshuffling of the bullpen. I wish we'd trade some of the current parts basically for anybody else. I like Reed. The rest of the guys are all a dime a dozen or worse IMO. Nobody is reliable besides Reed. By reliable I mean by old White Sox standards. Guys who can get people out. Besides Reed? I really like what Reed brings to the table, but he was anything but reliable last year, especially in the second half - 5.63 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, .313/.346/.535/.881 splits. His control got better because he was throwing everything over the heart of the plate. He would benefit from serving in a set up role, but he is also an extremely valuable trade chip too. And I love, love, love Mike Adams.
  12. Perhaps it will help Marshall thrust it into the endzone
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) Sanchez has about as much power as Juan Pierre. Do we really want a 3B that has an ISO under .100 in the minors? I'd think his bat fits a lot better at SS and 2B. I think Sanchez is coming up in the worst case scenario. He's also still very young, so hopefully he fills out a bit and can become a gap to gap hitter for the Sox.
  14. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) Don't know why the links didnt work.... The Forte one was about him giving laptops to all the players on a local football team. The other article talked about how Brandon Marshall said a lot of players take viagra before games to help in performance. (I better not see any cheesy jokes about this because its 2012 guys!) Yes, in my league there is an openly all gay team, i wasn't being crude or anything. They even have a movie that was/is on netflix, Go Dragons! Need to get up for a big game.
  15. Mock all you like, Rock has a proven to be a pretty reliable source of information in the past.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) I just don't understand the lack of appreciation for Gordon Beckham. He plays gold glove defense and has improved with the bat. He wants to learn and improve and makes no excuses. He was a #1 pick and we want to just get rid of him? The Sox have made some real strange decisions with their young talent in the past and hopefully they have learned their lesson. I could see Sanchez being added to the roster to play either third or secondbase. If he is the better middle infielder Gordo can move back over to thirdbase. The kid wasn't bad there at all I'm terrible at baseball, but I want to improve and play 2B for the White Sox. Will you let me? The reason people are frustrated with Beckham is because he has more than 2000 plate appearances at the MLB level and his career average is .245 and his OPS is below .700. For the 8th pick of the draft, you expect someone who is better than a replacement level player. We can all see the talent, but sometimes talent and production don't meet and players underachieve. That's what Beckham looks like right now.
  17. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) Question though: when is the last time the Sox traded a good, productive veteran player for a return (in prospects probably) that Soxtalk liked? I can't remember. Even 2 of our best deals in the CLee deal (salary space for JD & AJ + Pods + Viz) and the Freddy to Philly deal were hated. The last one I can think of was the Rowand + Gio + Haigwood deal for Thome. IIRC everyone liked that. Of course we got the best player in the deal there. The last time we sent a MLB vet for prospects that people liked was....???? My point is that we never like anything here. This "tidbit" could be about any player in any given deal. Ozzie Guillen to the Marlins
  18. QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 10:24 AM) I agree with this entirely, but a question just popped into my head: An NBA team is going to have way more options than even a fantastic college team, so will that show how fits in? I suppose, though, that if you're picking a player in the top 3, you want him to be able to dominate. I think in a normal year, Zeller would be worthy of an 8-12 pick; solid, you know what you're getting, but he won't be a superstar. Versatility at higher levels is a requirement too. In college, he can just be pidgeonholed into that spot and succeed due to his talent, but the players in the NBA are at another level.
  19. That description fits John Danks, Jose Quintana, and Hector Santiago a lot better than it does Gavin Floyd or Paul Konerko. I mean, it fits Konerko, but I just don't see any way they'd trade Konerko. And I think we're expecting the Sox to trade Quintana or Santiago, so I don't think that would leave people too upset. My best guess is Danks because he was always more of a KW guy. I'm just not sure who would want Danks coming off shoulder surgery.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) Teahen agrees. That 25 homer season he had was pretty incredible. So many of those balls that were doubles at Kaufman were homers at USCF!
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) Yup, just pray for a pass interference penalty in the end zone, then a 1-yard TD run. Although last game vs. Saints, he had several of those opportunities and looked so washed up while getting stuffed. I have avoided Turner in fantasy leagues for 2 years and have loved every minute of it for the last 19 games. Based upon his skillset at this point in his career, he's going to be overdrafted due to history because he's nothing more than a RB3 at this point
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) Ugh, I think I have to start Michael Turner tonight, he sucks. LawFirm will take one RB spot, but my other RBs are Forte, Felix Jones, & Donald Brown. I don't think I can risk Forte or Jones not playing Sunday, so have to go with Turner as RB2. If Forte does play, can always flex him. I hate Michael Turner. At this point in his career, you just hope he can punch one in.
  23. During all the commotion, I must have missed where Bell was promoted to assistant GM. No problem with the move, he's got a great eye for talent.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) What are you implying? I know Rock has connections, but it seems to me that he is just playing to the general psyche and typically angry mob personality of the average sports fan in general where, unless it's an outstanding move, people will be upset and believe their team gave up too much. People ask for moves, moves are made, and then people are upset that moves were made. Just the general idea to hope that people don't talk out of both sides of their mouth.
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 28, 2012 -> 06:37 PM) The competition is retirement That's exactly it. He'd pretty much committed to coming back, but he's walked out the door before, so he can certainly do it again. It's the same thing with Rivera - he's not going to sign with anybody else, but to go through rehab to get himself back into game shape, he needs to get paid.
