  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) I can't believe how close the Rockies are to making it. It's incredible. Let's go, Rockies! The Phillies are too though, and are actually closer. I'm rooting for one of those two; it's not that I don't like the Padres, it's just that they are boring as hell to me. The Rockies seem to have come out of nowhere, so that much is fun, and the Phillies have Legend and Gooch, so that soft spot is there too.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) I don't think anyone is expecting Griese to be pro bowl caliber but he's better than Rex who is probably the worst starting qb in the league right now. If I had to choose between JP Losman and Rex Grossman, I'd probably have to call Drew Bledsoe and see what he's been doing. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) I want Woodson. Hes a freak I think he's got to be the #1 QB on the board right now, though it is only like week 4 or 5. He's so damn good.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) You're like half man and half bearpig. some kind of pigbearman
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Vaz has been fantastic. Still not as good as Bmac though, Wite. I told you so
  5. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:59 PM) I like the idea of getting Bonds. Anything to make this team older I'm all for. The perfect fit in the clubhouse as well. Of course, Barry still runs like he used to so he'll be a terror on the base paths. Shoot, this move would also open up the long-desired idea to try Jim Thome at shortstop once Barry becomes the DH. After this, then Barry can take to the streets of Chicago spreading his good cheer to all the people. After that...President Bonds as Illinois is the first state ever to give all their votes to a single candidate. Only in (my) fantasy land would that happen.
  6. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:56 PM) The Angels don't need anything. They have a good team and their minor league system is loaded with terrific potential to fill-in, replace departed agents or aging veterans. I guess they could use a bopper one of the corners, but they seem to have done fine without it. The Angels rarely ever make trades as it is, just because they don't seem to like giving up that talent. And if they need a big bat in the offseason, the GOAT is a free agent, even if he is 44. I seem to recall trying to find the last time the Angels made a huge trade once upon a time, and I really don't think they've made one in the 2000s, and I'm not sure when it was before that.
  7. Essentially, at any point in this thread, Cheat has suggested that -Vazquez has been good this year (perhaps not, but that seems to be more of a formality) -Chris Young's value right now is higher than Vazquez's -Chris Young is a better player than Juan Uribe, and he's almost assured of being a much better player for a lot longer than Uribe (and why this is even being argued is beyond me) It's hard to disagree with any of it.
  8. QUOTE(Dogfood22 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) This whole situation is exactly why I want the Sox to just move forward without Crede. I love Joe, but the uncertainty of his situation is too much when the future is already very uncertain for the Sox. I really don't think you would have seen Fields move to LF if the Sox felt there was something that could have gone wrong. They have to like where Joe is at in his rehab. That, or they just felt Fields was never going to cut it at 3B, so the move to LF happens while the team is struggling so he can get adjusted to it. That's part of it too, they'll get absolutely jacks*** for him. He doesn't have negative value, but his salary next year is going to be atleast $4 mill, he's coming off of back surgery, his offensive production depends entirely upon his average because he doesn't walk and he's not a strong enough power hitter - unlike say even Josh Fields - to be of much value otherwise, and there's no ability for long-term investment because he'll be a free agent after next season...his value has diminished incredibly. If the Sox are serious about competing next year, I'm not sure you'll find a better option at 3B for the price; it's a huge risk, and without any insurance at all at 3B - which the organization really doesn't, unless you count Fields, and then if you're counting Fields you have to depend on any number of AAAA players (or Ryan Sweeney, and some will probably argue he is a AAAA player) to play LF.
  9. I'm an Owens "hater," if you will, but I'd really like him on the team next year as a 4th outfielder. While I'm not sure he's ever going to be starter material, he seems to be a guy that can steal 30 bags while getting limited playing time, and if utilized properly, he could be a huge weapon late in games. However, if the Sox are depending upon him to be the starter in CF and leadoff hitter - which I don't think has ever been the plan, hence the resigning of Buehrle and Dye - they may as well rebuild, because he's just not a starter on a playoff team.
  10. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 01:07 PM) hey the comment was that Juan Uribe (whom I'm not a big fan of) never had that in the minors. He cleary did before being called up to the bigs. Mike Morse had a 1.074 OPS and a .435 average for the Mariners over a stretch of 73 PAs, but I don't think they are planning on batting him in the 4 hole any time soon. Same exact princple applies, except that Morse had 3 times as many plate appearances as Uribe. So, no, a week's worth of games doesn't count.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) Agreed. That's something I'll never do is get drunk before or during a sporting event that I care about. Nobody cares about D-IAA, thus whenever I go to a game here I am drunk It's pretty fun
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) Oh, since this is cheaper than a text.....Halo bbq at my place on Saturday (and I'm sure somewhere in there I'll have time to beat u in a couple quick games of NHL) It's a date I'm bringing the pepperoni nipples
  13. Robot Chicken so did it first...as mentioned on Family Guy itself
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) When I generally envision what someone (from this board) is going to look like, I think of their avatar or sig. So when I first met SnB, I thought he was going to look similar to Rex Grossman (he doesn't). I similarly expected IlliniKrush to look like Dee Brown. If I ever met WHarris, I fully expect him to look like a cross between T.I. and Willie Harris. I somehow think I'm going to be dissappointed. Just like if I ever met Dick Allen, I'd expect him to look like a male Rosie O'Donnell. RockRaines? You betcha -- I'm expecting a pretty, pretty lady. For those that care, no, I don't look like El Duque. If I grew out a mop-top I might be able to pass for Patrick Kane, though, but I'm probably just saying that because we're both caucasian and relatively short. I perfectly resemble my sig and avatar.
  15. Nothing's gonna ever keep you down!
  16. TO is perhaps my favorite player in the entire NFL.
  17. Alka-Seltzer is amazing after a day and a half of being drunk off my ass.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 06:30 PM) Does Kenny do that deal? I don't think so. For Contreras? Yes, I have to believe Kenny would do that. Not for Garland, but Contreras' perceived value just seems much lower, and he'd like to get rid of that contract and fix a hole for 3 years.
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) Carlos Pena is having the best-quietest season ever. Just unbelieveable. Not as quiet as you think. I've followed him since about June.
  20. I had him pegged for a breakthrough year. If you are a Tiger fan or baseball fan, all you can do is hope and pray it's not his shoulder. As a Sox fan, I feel bad, but f*** the Tigers.
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) Brewers -- maybe, but what would they give us and how much money would we eat? Bill Hall
