What about the Buc defense? THEY won the game, Gannon didn't lose it. The Bucs defense played well but if you throw five interceptions youre going to lose. Gannon choked. Hes old too so he wont be back in the SB next year. Sadly, this disaster will be his only Super Bowl memory. Hes not going to make the HOF (hes good but hes only really been on the main stage in the last couple of years, before that he was a nobody) so years from now well just look back on the guy who blew the 2002 Super Bowl and the guy who holds the most infamous SB record. He will the be the NFLs Shane Falco (I just hope youve seen The Replacements so this analogy makes sense)...

5 interceptions? Youre pathetic. Youve never made a Super Bowl and when you finally do at age 38 you set a Super Bowl record, for most interceptions. How can you throw five interceptions? Forget my idea of you being replaced by Detmer. Not even Detmer would have done so bad. Heck, I wouldnt have done so bad. That said, good job Bucs. You guy earned this one. Congratulations...
-
Now with that interception, its over. Gannons the biggest choke Ive ever seen. I think aliens kidnapped the real Gannon and put Ty Detmer in his place. Thats pathetic. How do you throw four interceptions in a game? I actually feel sorry for him. Hed never been to the Super Bowl and when he finally does make it at like 38 years of age he chokes. Hell never have the opportunity again, he is gonna remember this day for the rest of his life, sadly...

The last 3? Highly doubtful. In 1999(it was actually 4 Superbowls ago), that was a very good Superbowl, and the Titans were 1 yard short of tying the game up when time expired....that was an incredible finish. In 2000, you saw a defense that was one of the more dominant defenses we have seen in a damn long time, and a QB that was not even good but had won numerous straight games. Last year was one of the better Superbowls we have seen in a long time...possibly even better than 1999's Superbowl. You could basically say it was the Bills Superbowl that wasn't....because I believe 10 years ago prior to that Superbowl, the Bills missed winning a Superbowl by inches, with Phil Moorman(?...sad...I can't even remember the kicker from my favorite team from years ago) kicking it...but Tom Brady marched his troops down the field and Adam Viniateri kicked a field goal from 45 yards out or whatever it was and that was quite possibly the finest moment in Superbowl history....I don't know how many other Superbowls have ever ended like that...and all this 5 months after the 9/11 terrorist attack....and boy was South Dakota proud of its South Dakota kicker Viniateri(and he went to SDSU, not damn USD)....that was an incredible Superbowl. This one is looking like it could be good...but after that call, it looks like the refs want Tampa to win as well. I'd guess that Tampa will win this game mainly because the refs have screwed up two calls so damn badly. OK, 1999 I missed the Super Bowl. I lived in Spain so the game came on at like 3 in the morning, I screwed up trying to tape it and even tho a Spanish teacher at my school offered me the tape I was mad and I said no. Ive seen the final play several times since but never have seen the entire game. It still did look like an awesome game tho. In 2000 I was rooting for the Ravens ever since like week four of that season. They said the Ravens stunk and when they started playing well I went for the underdogs like I usually do. Then they made the playoffs and won the Super Bowl and that was awesome. Even tho it wasnt very close Im just glad that the team I was rooting for won. In 2001, theres no argument there. That was a great Super Bowl. It was the third straight season where a team came outta no where to win it all. As for this year, the Raiders look like they could make a comeback but if they fail itll hurt even more to me. If they just got blown out it wouldnt be very exciting but Id know we never had a chance. Now that a comeback has been mentioned, I want it and I cant go without it. Same thing with the Sox. If the Sox are down by 5 in the final innings and they cut the deficit to one before finally losing, Id be even more dissappointed than if they just lost by the original margin because Id know we had the chance. That said, its the 2 minute warning and Oaklands still down by 13, its over...

Im guessing this stupid game would be the Super Bowl, which in my opinion is the most boring one weve had in like a decade? You a Raiders fan, wsc? Im not but Im gonna lose 5 bucks if they lose (Id gain twenty if they win). They just blocked a punt and took it in for the touchdown but theyre still down by 19 with 14:16 left. The Raiders have a potent offense and theres a tiny possibility that they come back and that would make it one of the greatest Super Bowls in history. But I doubt that will happen... sorry dude..not agaisnt a john gruden coached team...if it were against a wannstadt team then id say you would have a chance...but gruden is one of the best when it comes to time management Yeah, down by 19 with 8 minutes left, they aint got a chance. That would take a touchdown with the extra point every two and a half minutes the rest of the game. Which against Gruden (heck, even against Wannstedt) aint gonna happen...

Lol, I probably would have just stared at my screen in awe but I sure wouldnt go streaking across Comiskey in April, thatd freeze ya nuts off. But it didnt matter really, since the Bucs blotched the kick. Neither of these teams dont very good.
-
Ok, forget everything I said about the game. This Raiders team blows. Yet Im sticking to what I said about Shania...
-
Im betting on the Raiders so Im gonna stay optimistic and say that the blocked punt was the turn around they needed. I dont actually think theyll come back but it sure would make for one heck of a comeback, ya know? As for Shania Twain, she was pretty hot. Who cares that it wasnt her song? She looked hot even with out the awesome outfit (well, without the outfit wouldnt be bad either... lol)...

Thank you all, your words have touched me, thanks... But as for the whole race versus choice idea, that used to be my problem. I used to think that homosexuality was a choice, not a race. To mental retardation was a race so I never picked on them because I knew that was out of their control and I could only feel sorry for them. But I saw gays and just thought you cant be born that way, you have to make that choice. When I finally learned differently I stopped any kind of discrimination...

roman we may not get along on here and im most certian we would not get along too well in person , which is a shame cause i see the fiesty in you that was much in me at that same age.....anyhow... i have to ask you one thing.... on these boards how do you know if one is gay or not??? you obvisouly dont, because if you were aware of that then you would realize that one of your biggest backers happens to be the very thing you wouldnt befriend............why shut out anyone because of the way they are??? there are alot of cool people out there in the world and you shouldnt judge them based on what they do or believe or stuff like their religioin, race ect. ect. (you get my drift)....i for one am not gay, but i do support a few friends who are....they are amoung the best of my friends and i wouldnt have it any other way.....i have come to know a mix of people on these and other boards.. in person... i have guys like cwsox who enjoys lifes experiences and makes you enjoy them too, guys like baggs who will be there to lend a helping hand when called upon, guys like rps who will give it to you like it is and keep you on your toes...each and everyone of them have their own unique personality and offer their own lifes experiences which i am thankful for, because it makes me a much more rounded person knowing each and every one of them... i dont care if they are gay or not or if they only like certian types of chicks or whatever.. our love for the sox brought us together and our unique ways that compliment eachother in one way or another keeps us together............i guess the point im trying to make is dont knock someone untill you get to know them.. you may be surprised at what you find................ Oh boy, Id rather not take any guesses at who that could be and Ill just leave it at that. But as for me saying I would not support a gay person, let me try to explain this a little better. I will set up my friends with female friends of mine, unless of course, I wanna try to set myself up first. I would not do so with a gay person however. I dont know any gay people (or atleast they arent my friends) but if I did I would warn him real strict that I want no part in his relationships. And as a teen peer pressure is a big influence on me. Here I am in a crowd of anti gay people (some whom I must say I despise more than the gay kid) and over there is the gay kid. I used to be with others in calling him out on it but now I say nothing. If anyone asks about it Ill give a nod or something but I no longer really care.
-
Maybe youre right but for now I feel good so Id rather just stick my head back in the clouds where the Sox are already the best team in the bigs, lol...
-
i would have kept durham and howry too..especially durham...think about how much better we would look right now with him on 2nd base and leading off Or if we still had Durham he could play center and Jiminez could play second. Then our team would be complete, for 2003 atleast...
-
Ive always liked Ward and it woulda been nice to see the Sox get him for center but oh well. I think hes gonna be pretty darn good someday. But Houston sure didnt get ripped off either. This Lugo guy will complete the Lugo brothers (my theory is that when a guy has a brother or good friends on the team he will play better and more likely stick around) and he has some good stats...

Well, I was expecting like some mega hard brain teaser but I guess Ill put my answer out. This is not how I think the Earth will end (Im religious, so Id say an apocalypse) but just one thing that really scares me. Viruses are the one thing that truly scare me. Ive been watching movies in biology and some of this is just scary. For instance, ebola. It can spread extremely easily and it will have 8 outta ten guys dead in no more than ten days and there is no cure. You better just hope God is on your side and one of those two that survives. As for its spreadability, during some ebola epidemic in Zaire, one doctor was closing some guys eyes and he contracted it. He survived but that just shows how easily you can get. Some family members were just holding the hand of one of the dead and they got it so like the entire family died. That is really scary. Screw the Saddams and bin Ladens, the US military will take care of them. But viruses. Theres no way to detect their presence and no way to stop them...

great point and that is what i think. trade him now when his trade value is high. first of all colon wont be here next year... jr wont pay that much money...and someone will sweep him from under kw..... second of all if you trade mark now while his value is high then who the heck is going to pitch for you besides colon for the rest of the season??? surely you dont put your season trust in wright/garland/and ginter or glover to do it.........and while we may have gordon (if he stays healthy) but if hes not were screwed... you honestly do not trust wunch do ya? remember that white is going to have to adjust from the nl style to the al.....not alot of pitchers have a good time with that their first season out..ask todd ritchie ...... i guess the point im tryin to make here is that WE NEED MARK BUEHRLE ... at least through this season till we can see whos ready and whos not..... i would like for mark to stay around for a long term basis but we know that wont happen as jr doesnt sign pitchers like that.........(remember black jack et el..)...and kw has put the bad vibes between them out there in the open now....im sure in marks mind 06 cant come fast enough..... all the kid wants to do is play ball and it shows....its just a shame that our management feels the need to publicaly humiliate him with their petty offers and then turning it into a "he turned us down" type of thing.............they never learn......jr will alienate all the fans with that kind of attitude.......... Well, hsc you seem to be in a good mood today. Since you have acted kindly I feel obliged to do the same... I think it could go either way hsc. If this year we play awesome and go far into the playoffs Jerry could see that a WS ring is close and deal out some extra money to try to resign Colon and make another run at it, unless we win it all right this year, then Im not quite sure what Jerry would do (keep it together or just get so caught up in the joy that hed let it fall apart). Or the other scenario is that we suck and Jerry just gives up. I think if we suck Jerrys not gonna see any reason to try to resign the guys and keep it all together. As for Buehrle, I dont want to trade him and I dont even want to lose him. I just think if 2005 comes and we will lose him inevitably lets get something for him. Trade him before the deadline just like we did with Ray. Just actually get something. Dont do MB for two John Adkins style minor leaguers...

an owner like me........ ......... im headed to my aunts house to see if she can put the italian evil eye on jr........i know i have a lock of his hair around here somewhere.......... NOW PUBLIC HAIR DOESNT COUNT HSC, THAT FELL OUT LAST NIGHT IN YOUR BED. You mean pubic hair?
-
Well, hsc, in light of us not getting along very well I must thank you for responding in such civilized manner about such a sensitive topic. I do use the "f" word at times (once it was actually to a gay person) but Im hardly the worst. Other teens use it as their sole insult, I do use other words as has been seen. Its something about the latest generation that is unchangeable, sadly. Also, even tho Im not exactly pro-gay, Im hardly the most anti gay person either. I would not hang around a gay person or support him but I no longer go out of my way to belittle them like I used to. But, in summary, the words f** and gay will inevitably be used by my generation to desribe stupidity, whether we like it or not. And cw, the word manos is Spanish for hands. The nickname makes a joke about all the fielding errors Jose makes. Unless someone else proves differently this is what I believe it means...

It is rumored that Colon turned down 12.5million a year from the Expos, and while the money is probably not why he turned it down that will be the type of money he is looking for. I honestly can't see jr and kw offering anywhere near that so I am not optimistic about him re signing. As for Mark, keep Mark lose kenny. Thats the Expos. The Expos suck and nobody wants to play in Montreal. If the Sox go far this year I think that could convince Colon into staying for a reasonable amount of money. If they dont go far but are still decent I dont know. But from what Ive seen he seems to like it here so lets hope it stays that way. Also, KWs gonna have to decide whether or not hes worth it. If he pulls a Todd Ritchie (God help us) theres no way in hell KW resigns him...

great point and that is what i think. trade him now when his trade value is high. Thank you ldf. But first, let him play out the rest of his contract and in his final year (not quite sure when that is) we can trade him for the best deal we could get. Were gonna lose him, that is inevitable, not the focus should be to gain from that loss. Im pretty sure we wont gain equivalent to what we lose and Im sure none of the trades mentioned in this thread will happen but we could get something pretty good...

The shift in meaning then, must be a generational thing. I appreciate your explanation, still not comfortable with the use of the word as a synonym for stupid, but, must be different generations use the word different ways. Live and learn. My generation is probably the worst. And Im not going to say Im perfect either. We call perfectly straight people who we just dont like f**gots. We know hes not gay but we do it anyways. We also call the gay ones f**s. Thats is discrimination but calling a straight person a f**, I dont see any harm in that. Now, if you call someone a f** and a real homosexual is there that could cause problems. But like you said cw, its a generational thing. "Gay", "f**", "queer", "fruitie" and the like are used more to label people we find stupid and at times people whom are truly gay. Just the path of my generation, my friend...

First off, to whoever said Colon wont be here next year, he loves it here. I think hell signed longterm. As for Mark, regardless of what you people think I think of him, he wont be staying here. 2006 will come and hell be gone. KW has spit in his face and I think its incurable. Sad as it is, I dont think well need to get a replacement ace, I think Garland, Wright and Rauch should step up just fine. Understand that I dont want Buehrle to leave, I just think thats the way its going to be. I really dont think Buehrle wants to be here after what Kenny did to him...
-
Ok, first off, I thought he was offered seven million over three years and I dont know Mark so I didnt know that he wanted four years instead of three (could you please explain why the years were such a big deal?) and this is why I was mad. I thought why would you turn down such a great offer? Then I learned he was offered 300,000 and even tho Im KWs biggest supporter I gotta say thats just sad. So I apologized in the thread "My apologies" which is at the bottom of the page or on the second page, depending how your boards set up. I really do like having Buehrle on the team but I have a bit of a temper and when I came home I was mad and I saw everyone rippin KW after he made some great moves and I thought that was messed up and I flipped. So Im sorry for what I said about your brother...

I argue my opinion without personal attacks unless someone else does so first. I may have some extreme opinions but I support them without insulting other poeple. So I totally agree with you bj, we mustnt insult eachother needlessly...
