Well wsc I agree with you except for 3 trades. The Amaury Garcia trade has meant nothing. Could you explain why you think its negative? As far as I know not one of the players traded has made the bigs. Id call that one neutral. The Clayton trade was definitely a negative. His poor play and bad attitude has screwed us over the past two years. Im sure most people will agree with that. You may say we gave up nothing but still, Clayton hurt this team. Then the Durham trade. Maybe its just that I loved Ray but either way I hated this trade and I still hate it. We lost him for nothing. The As also lost him for nothing so maybe its not as bad as Im saying but I woulda loved to see Ray stay. Maybe Im changing my mind, that could remain a neutral...

Id kinda like D'amico and Jose Cruz. I dont really want to get Rodrigues because hes getting old and hes slipping a bit. I also dont think he will be signed because KWs already signed Alomar and I dont think hes gonna go get another one. I think Alomars better than Pudge anyway. We have a dynamite offense. Who gives a s*** if Alomar his .250 with 1 bomb and 10 RBIs. Its better than what MJ would have done but thats beside the point. Alomar plays great defense and hes cheap and hes a mentor. We just need him to mentor Olivo into being our catcher of the future. Alomars here for a year and then hes done, hell probably retire. But if he mentors Olivo hes done his duty. And farewell to Tim Raines. I always liked him when he was here. I hope he enjoys his retirement...

Im going to go with Jim on this one for the offensive impact player. I think if Frank stinks or is just average, we will have an average to slightly above average offense. But if he is great like in 2000, barring any injuries, we will be dominant on offense. As for the impact pitcher, Id say Colon. Hes the new guy and probably the ace (I would put him above Buehrle) so if he does well, the youngsters will probably follow along behind him. Hes got to be the leader and if he does well Wright and Garland I believe will follow in his footsteps...

Just with the ability to play defense. I don't really know what you're talking about. That guy plays unbelievable D, and he's probably one of the top 5 defensive outfielders in the game right now at centerfield, one of the most demanding positions there is. There's a lot more to baseball than offense alone. All things considered (age, position, defense, offense, etc.), if I had to choose between Magglio and Torii, I think I'd take Torii. Thats insane. I respect you doub, but there is no reason to take Hunter over Maggs. He does play good defense altho Maggs does well at his position and you cant fault him for that. We also have Rowand in center and his defense isnt too shabby. Then Hunter and Maggs are about the same age, about the same price and Maggs offense is drastically better. Toris also got this big bad wannabe tough guy attitude that I hate. Id be fine with him on the Sox but not if it meant getting rid of Maggs, who could possibly be the second best rightfielder, if not outfielder, in the game, behind Vladdy...

OK, heather, I thought you were being pretty realistic until you posted that. I think the rotation can win the amount you said and we will win 95 plus games and go deep into the playoffs but I dont think this team will equal the 1927 Yankees or anything. Did you mean to say on of the best seasons THIS team has had in history? Now to me, THAT would make more sense. Hopefully they will do as you say and amend the playoff failures of the Sox teams of the last 43 years and bring some glory to the Southside... As for Garland vs Wright, Id side with Garland. Wright may have better stuff but Garland has more of Buehrle in him. They have that ability to pitch without their stuff which Wright does not. With just his stuff Buehrle is no better than, say, Omar Daal. With his stuff and intelligence, he is one of the best starting pitchers in the American League. Garland could be like that someday. If Wright loses his stuff he has nothing. I believe they will both be good but Garland will just be better due to that uncanny ability...

I also agree. As I told some dumb troll on our mlb.com board, we got Maggs for 9 million next year and they got Hunter for 8. Maggs hit .031 more than Hunter with 9 more bombs and 41 RBIs. Im fine with this. They can have Tori, I wouldnt pay 8 million for him when I can get much better stats for only an extra million.

Ya know, I was visiting over at the Yankees mlb.com message board and theyre all talking about how great it is that they kept Colon out of Boston and how they loved this trade. Now heres what I would find funny. What if Colon was dominating and he took us all the way to the ALCS where we would meet the mighty Yankees? Then in the series he just dominated the Yankees leading to an easy White Sox victory. That would just be the ultimate irony...

Rae Carruth got locked away for a long time for what he did. But I do agree, with the rest of em, they need to be getting locked up should they deserve it. I read a book once called "Pros and Cons" and it was all about unpunished criminals in the NFL (Wayne Simmons, a rapist, is one I remember) and Id tell ya about others if I could find the book but Im just not sure where it is. Witesoxfan, you can never be too optimistic. I love your post. A couple days ago, I woulda pointed you out as one of many pessimists but today I honestly think youre even more optimistic than I am! I think we will win the division but only by 2-3 games. We got much stronger but the Twins did not get weaker. I would love to slaughter the Twins like you are predicting but I think its going to be close and exciting, with the Sox coming out on top...
