  1. Now I am scared to even invite him here because I see there are lots of pent up emotions here
  2. Ah....How fast things change .... :rolly It was only yesterday that 90% of Sox fans used to boo Jon (and that includes 90% of the folks here) and call him arrogant and a jerk for bashing fans.
  3. Over/under on Steff being in this thread? 10 mins?
  4. I finally just got done seeing the game (1pm PT) since I was out today evening, and I taped it since it was on WGN TV I stayed away from sports news all evening since I did not want to know the score....when we got up 3-0, I was sure we would cruise Obviously, it became tight but Jon was a beats out there clinching this one for the SOx And Hermy rocks too Eat s*** Os
  5. Looking at the weather report, looks like it will be "Play Ball"
  6. Steff I have to ask...how do you know Ponson? Related? Friends? Ex BF?
  7. He might make it here when he lets me know he wants to....he is busy right now, based on his last email to me ================ Maybe another day. I’m heading to Seattle early tomorrow morning, and in the meantime I’ve got a column to finish. -r
  8. I wrote back to Mr Neyer and here is his response. What do you think folks? Would you like me to invite him here and we can talk baseball with him? As long as everyone promises to behave themselves ======================= Rob Would you like to have a sensible debate about the White Sox on a White Sox board? I promise it will not be childish and immature. Just pure baseball talk....if you would like to, let me know. I can send you a link to a website where there are some very astute baseball fans with who you could debate. Thanks Just a White Sox fan ========================= Well, sure. But I’m not sure what we’d debate. I don’t like the ballpark, or the uniforms. Those are just matters of pure opinion, and not things about which I’ll change my mind. And about the baseball . . . I mean, this spring I picked the White Sox to win the Central, and at the moment I think they’ve got a fine chance at reaching the postseason. So what’s to debate?
  9. The only way Beane lets Chavez go is if he finds out his previous production was a result of roids.....you know like Giambi
  10. Folks - I wrote to Mr Neyer and I got a response from him too. At least he responded, which is good. But he definitely did not like my mail it seems. Please find my mail and response below: ======================= Hi Rob I do not even know where to start. Clearly you hate the White Sox. I understand that since you are a Royals fan. I would hate every other MLB team if I was a Royals fan too. I guess given all of the other incompetent baseball analysis ESPN provides these days, finding an objective baseball writer at ESPN is probably an exercise in futility. I do not get how you can call the White Sox a "talentless team" when they have the best pitching in all of baseball as of today. Now, that may change down the line, but the #s speak for themselves for Garland, Buerhle, Garcia, El Duque and even the Count. The Sox may not have overpaid prima donnas like Alex Rodriguez or Sammy Sosa or have any "previously juiced up" overpaid players like Jason Giambi, but they play the game as a team. One would think with all of the "me first" crap going on in sports these days, this would be refreshing, but it is obviously not to you. The Sox's hitting is not great, no doubt there, but you do know they will only get better (look at career avg #s for Konerko or Dye and remember Frank Thomas will get back at some point). What really surprises me though is that you picked the Sox to win the division before the year started, unlike the clueless Harold Reynolds, Peter Gammons, John Kruk and all of the other "know it all analysts". None of your commentary bothers me since it will not affect how the Sox play down the line, but I thought you should "enlighten" yourselves with facts about a game you are paid to follow. Hope you have a nice day. Just a White Sox fan ======================= Lord, can you get more sensitive. Just one point, and then I hope our contact will end: I never said the White Sox were “talentless” (which you put in quotes because I used the word, or so you apparently think). Get a grip, man. You must have something more productive to do with your time. -rn
  11. He said he expected him to make life easier for Contreras, who had struggled under the weight of the contract he signed after a Red Sox-Yankees bidding war."Absolutely," Williams said Tuesday. "Not that we're on some kind of Friends and Family plan, but it was a little bit similar to when we brought in Uribe and we also brought in Timo Perez. They're from the same hometown, very close. We knew we had some work to do with Uribe, build some confidence, and it's difficult when you're trying to change a guy and build his confidence. We got Timo Perez because we needed him but we also knew he would make things more comfortable for Uribe." http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility
  12. I am very impressed with Pollitte too this year.
  13. Being a White Sox fan means you are die hard, unless you are 90+ years old (in which case you are close to "dying" anyways )
  14. I wanted Duque out before this inning too....all those who disagreed,
  15. Hollins with a single....how long before Duque gets the hook I give this inning to get all fo the next 3 outs....he puts one more on and he is outta there
