My buddy actually did research on which is more expensive... from the studies he did (on the teams in our conference), over a 5-year period, aluminum was actually MORE expensive than wood.

Yea, I can see why people hate his guts... but back to the topic at hand....

Aluminum bats are bad. They're more costly, plus they give players (college players especially) a huge disadvantage once they get to the minor league levels where wooden bats are used. In addition, they're more expensive than wooden ones (though you use more wooden ones throughout the course of a season, the costs of all of those bats usually don't equal aluminum ones), so I don't see why college teams and high school teams don't switch to wood.

That's because of the way they're brought up pitching over there (I lived there for 8 years of my life). The kids are used ALL THE TIME... very little regard to the well-being of the pitcher. If you make it (as a starter), odds are that you've got a very durable arm. Goes along with the whole "pitch count" thing we hear all the time now... if you're trained to toss 130 a game, you're going to do that, but only if you survive getting there... and the Japanese starters you see in the states have "survived," so to speak. That's my view on it anyway.

Not exactly what I had in mind, but yes... This team is insulting to watch. Jose going down swinging on 3 straight curveballs in the same spot to end the game really pissed me off. It seemed like he just gave up on those 3.

Agree... Arod can hit just as many homers (and blow just as many kisses or hop just as high) as Sosa, AND he plays gold glove calibur defense at SS.
