  1. It's almost as if we're trying to lose these games, really. Is there a WORSE in game manager than Ozzie in baseball? If so I'd like to see him. I think Soxtalk could do a better job making decisions, really.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) Do we have anyone left on the bench? De Aza
  3. The AT&T Multiverse view addition has almost been as bad as the Adam Dunn acquisition this year. Awful.
  4. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) I wanna see beckham with another hitting coach before giving up on him Agreed, which is why we need to get rid of Ozzie as he'll never admit Walker is not getting the job done.
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) You just unearthed a painful memory for me. Imagine Gonzalez in a White Sox uniform right now instead of Dunn. I bet Beckham plus another prospect or 2 would have gotten it done too. But nooooo... Nobody wanted to trade the "Bacon Slayer". My God. I was one of those guys, sad to say.
  6. I don't believe what I just saw. Hits from Dunn and Rios in the SAME Inning. I think that must be a first this year?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) Last night was the first game since the ASB that we shouldn't have won. That's a good point. Of course, Ozzie's decision making really cost us several times in this stretch, and a few of them were no brainers (to pull Jake at home, to NOT pitch to Martinez, etc)
  8. That's a pretty weak lineup 5-9, no wonder we're around .500. Hard to sustain any type of winning streak when you really don't have much of anything with the exception of your 2,3, and 4 hitter in today's case.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) Reassign Walker to another job in the organization. Promote the AAA hitting coach. Agreed. A change needs to be made in this area whether or not Walk is the problem, this is LONG overdue. A new approach, a new thought process, a new something, to try and wake this offense up. We have too many guys struggling with talent to just pin it on them and wash our hands clean of the responsibility of their ineptitude. But that's what the Ozzie Guillen organization is all about- blaming everyone else but himself and his staff (with the exception of worthless platitudes/sound bites in the media of him "taking responsibility" which we all know is just lip service)
  10. The crazy thing is we all know Alex Rios has as much talent as anyone on this team. In the first half of last year I've never seen someone hit a ball as hard as consistent as Alex since the big hurt was wearing a White Sox uniform. And that's no exaggeration. In all honesty, it sounds like this whole thing is really taking its toll on him mentally, from the comments that Ozzie just made last night. I realize it appears Alex doesn't care, and that really pisses me off as a fan as well. The one thing you are expected to do every night is hustle and give 100%. Perception is reality, as they say, but are we all in agreement that Alex doesn't give a sh*t? I wonder how much he really cares....really... And for the record, I wish no one would talk to him about anything any longer and just get him back to his old batting stance where he just "felt" it. He's so mechanical up there it makes me sick.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) You know how it tends to take guys who come back from the Tommy John at least 1.5 years to get their full stuff back? It's been 1 year and 2 months since Peavy snapped his arm apart. His conditioning isn't there, and not only does that impact his innings load, it probably hurts his slider. Yes, agreed. If we're going to make a run for this thing we're going to need him. I am actually quite surprised everyone feels the likely loss tonight should result in a panic selloff of the team and basically do a white flag 2 if you will. If we can get the game tomorrow it's a good start to this important homestand...and with this division as winnable as it is, I dont think we're going to make a move. If we're offered an awesome package for one of our desirable players, however, I wouldn't lose sleep if we did a deal that signified we're packing it in...
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) So balta, would you still pencil Humber into the 2012 Sox rotation? Do you chalk this up to him not used to this work load? Boston isn't a bad hitting team, I wouldn't count him as dead yet. What is more concerning to me is JFP's in ability to get past 70 pitches.
  13. Philip Coke out there throwing meatballs for Detroit, 5-1 Angels. If we cannot beat this pathetic Detroit team with that awful pen we should be ashamed of ourselves.
  14. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Gotta showcase Rios before the trade deadline.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) Pierre LF Ramirez SS Konerko 1B Dunn DH Quentin RF Pierzynski C Rios CF Beckham 2B Morel 3B Come get some Lester. Let's kick em in the di*k tonight.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) Since when the hell is 26 years of age old? Everyone here knows my feelings on Danks. I want this guy signed here for a few years. He still has alot of untapped potential. I'm by far the highest on him than anyone on our staff. I just can't see the Whitesox giving him 6 years and 90M, no way, but some team most likely will. I also don't see us selling at the deadline here either, KW wants to go for it and given how winnable this division is I cannot blame him. More than likely we deal him in the offseason IMO...
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) Someone (probably Balta) will throw out his batting average over the last month or two and it will look "okay," just like Juan Pierre. Someone will respond with his SLG/OPS and on-base percentage numbers, which will show him in the Bottom 5-10% of MLB players. Then a response will be that he's just a rookie and not getting consistent playing time. To which the response will be that he's playing only against the most favorable pitching match-ups and he'd actually be worse if he was playing everyday. Which will lead back to a discussion of his minor league numbers and how he's adjusted over time every place he's played. Which will lead to the fact that in none of those situations was he playing in the heat of a major league pennant race. And of course the comparisons to B. Anderson in 2006 and the fact that HE SHOULDN'T be relied on offensively with all the veterans we have...to which someone will say you just can't have a 3B hitting with a 550 OPS, even if it's Brooks Robinson. And then we'll hear that almost all the MLB 3B are having pretty "off" seasons statistically, and that 675-725 OPS over there is the "new 800 gold standard" at the position. This was awesome.
  18. I am sure I am going to take heat from Dick Allen on this, but isn't it a strike against Walker regarding the development of Beckham and Morel? I mean, BOTH of those guys came up hitting the ball with authority before Walk had a chance to get inside their head. Now, they are punchless Judy's. Little b*tches. At least Morel showed some pop last year. Now he is swinging defensively on 2-0 counts where it appears he's just looking to make contact. Nice job coach. I know I am going to get the "wait, Beckham sucked his first 2 weeks before Walker fixed him" in the AL during his rookie campaign. Please, we're all smarter than that aren't we? Every rookie struggles a bit out of the gate. You throw the first 2-3 weeks out as it's just "getting acclimated" time. Morel showed pop last year, and now he's a little bedwetter who's looking for mommy at the end of the night. Let's call it what it is.
  19. Just found out that Jason Frasor is a Cubs fan. Sad. A southsider Cub fan, doesn't get much worse than that. -2 points for him automatically
  20. I really wish Rios would just go back to his old stance with those hands way low. At least he had an awesome first half last year with it. But I guess it's academic now since we'll be seeing De Aza out there the rest of the year if he can produce like he did today. A nice series win, but if the manager of this team was Soxtalk, we would most likely have swept as all of us could see Peavy was done after the 5th yesterday. Really what a joke to give a win away like that.
  21. Good lord Sarah Kustak is awful. The same question every time. "What was going through your mind when you _____ " Just awful.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) He just out produced Rios in one at bat. I was about to say he did in one at bat more than Rios has done in a month. Literally.
  23. It was almost like we are trying to lose this game putting Ohman out there, but he did a nice job. Do you really think management wants to give up and blow things up and is looking for a reason to do so?
  24. I think Jake can grind out one more inning, put him out there Ozzie!
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Gutsy 6 innings of 4 runs allowed. The sad thing is he should have had a 5 IP 1 ER line if our manager knew anything. We all called it here, in possibly the most important game of the year to date. Screw it, let's blow it up, I don't care anymore...
