  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Ozzie's final season is a stubborn one. He's flipping off everybody a final few times showing who is the boss as he gears for Florida. Rios batting fourth is a flipoff to the fans. I'm surprised Dunn isn't playing. It's like Ozzie is saying, 'You try to win with these bums like I've been trying to.' Guys I am sorry if I missed this but did Ozzie 100% did NOT want Rios? Is this speculation or an on record disagreement between them? We all know KW loved Rios but I don't recall anything where Ozzie was not happy to get him and there was some type of disagreement. If Oz didn't want Rios, then this is obviously a "FU" to KW on his way out the door, as we all know Ozzie is an ignorant pigheaded dumbass 99% of the time but he's not even this dumb is he? It's the type of thing that should almost be brought up with the fair competition committee if there is one in baseball to review whether or not teams are giving their best effort game in game out, LOL
  2. QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I would sit him the rest of the year, on the pretense that they want to see what Viciedo can do on a regular basis. Next, I would tell him to play Winter Ball. That way there would be a legitimate opportunity for him to demonstrate that he has reacquired the hitting skills which he has mysteriously lost. That would be a much better basis upon which to proceed next Spring. It would also showcase him for a possible trade. No team is going to take him based upon reports that he is in "great shape", and hitting the ball really well, off a tee!!! If he fails to produce in Winter Ball, and Spring Training, they should sit him at the beginning of next year. I don't care how much money they're paying him, there is no reason to sabotage the entire season just because they made a bad investment. + 1 Regarding retirement, from Dunn's standpoint, I believe his contract is backloaded so the real big paydays come in '13 and '14. I am sure it's not easy to say no to an additional $32M or whatever it is for those last two years. Despite it all I know I'd be tempted to take the money. Who knows what will happen but frankly I cannot see him rebounding from this as it appears its a perfect storm of diminishing skills/bat speed and him going mental at the same time. He also looks like he doesn't miss a meal as well, which doesn't help matters.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 07:26 AM) I think Hawk is threatened by Stone because he is such a good broadcaster. Most of Hawk's color men have been submissive to him...Stone is respectful of Hawk, but not submissive...so there is often quite a bit of tension. Yes this is a good point. Hawk is incredibly insecure and also has an ego the size of Alaska.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 05:04 AM) I've really enjoyed watching these games with the Wimperoo. Hawk seems far more relaxed with Paciorek cracking jokes the entire game. I suppose it would get old eventually, however. We need to go on a major run at this point, which is incredibly unlikely, considering we haven't won more than 5 in a row all year long. Something like 24-8 to even have a chance... For me the combination of Hawk and Don Drysdale was the best but Hawk and Wimpy are a close second. I am not sure what it is about Stone and Hawk but I don't think they are delivering as advertised. Of course that's partially because Hawk can be so God awful at times and is getting progressively worse year by year with his rants about us not getting the calls, etc. It seems the last few years we have gone into series against the team we were chasing NEEDING a sweep to stay in it and that is no different this year. In most of those cases over the years we've gotten swept or lost 2 of 3 so I don't expect anything different this year.
  5. LOL, I love this "Dunn is hitting off a tee" talk as if the media will hype that this winter. If I hear that sometime during the offseason being purported as if it's something to be excited about I'll just about puke. I can hit off a tee. Doesn't mean I can play baseball in the bigs...
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 02:00 AM) Yeah but the offseason magically will turn him around and we're going to have to hear about how great he's going to be next season. I'm sure we'll hear stories on how he's the "best shape in his life" in ST
  7. Honestly it's like Ozzie wants to go. Not even Ozzie is dumb enough to leave Frasor in there when we need the K, and he has clearly sucked in a White Sox uniform. This is beyond bad.
  8. In other news, another awful decision by Ozzie to leave Frasor in there to start the 9th.
  9. Between Beckham, Dunn and Rios this year how many times do you think Hawk has said "looking for it, got it, JUST underneath it"?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  10. Anyone else think Frasor may be not cut out to pitch in his hometown? A bit early for this yes but something to consider in the offseason if we get some nibbles for him (assuming we pick up the option).
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 07:07 AM) 2) If so, does John have some incentive to take less money to play with his brother? If John was 36 instead of 26 and had already made $100 M in the league sure he probably would think about it then. But not now. Time to get paid.
  12. Something tells me this team STILL makes a lot of money with a payroll of $125M. Call me crazy, but I am not buying the whole thing that we need to get down to $100M or so.
  13. QUOTE (typewritermender @ Aug 21, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) 1. JP LF 2. Lilli 1B 3. PK DH 4. Rios CF 5. Ramirez SS 6. Flowers C 7.De Aza RF 8. Morel 3B 9. Beckham 2B That is a pathetic lineup. I would probably go with JP, De Aza, Ramirez, PK, Flowers, Lilli, Morel, Rios, Beckham. Or I would just forfeit the game. I dunno if I can actually watch a game where Rios bats 4th. Does Ozzie not understand what a 4th hitter does? Is this like him acting out because he always wanted to bat 4th when he was playing? Like a drummer who always wanted to be a lead singer & then later in life he starts managing a band and forces everyone to let the drummer sing a few songs even though he sucks? I think JR should make Soxtalk the manager by committee for the rest of the season. This is a pathetic lineup, and precisely why we are hovering around .500 That said, let's find a way to get some runs today and shut em down.
  14. On a random note, I watched the last 4 innings of last night's game at a bar in Belgrade, Serbia. Got to love ESPN America! Just so happened the game was on live, so it was a real treat watching my team in HD while having a few drinks overseas. Opportunities like this don't happen often.
  15. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 11:10 PM) Durbin is essentially a position player pitching He's been throwing meatballs up there the whole time he's been in. Battle of the midgets, which one will be taller? This is why this team has no chance in the postseason. Ugly.
  16. The lack of killer instinct of this team is frightening.
  17. No exaggeration, this is the worst umpired game behind the plate I think I've seen in my life...on both sides
  18. We must really lead the league in stranding men at 3rd base with NO f***ING OUTS. Can someone look that up? It HAS to be us this year.
  19. This is why it's hard to root for this team. Have we had a walk off win all year at home? I am sure we have but I don't remember one...
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) where's uribe when you need him I have to say that was a pretty weak effort by Alexei
  21. I didn't mind Hafner's HR there that much, Sale had to challenge him in that situation. If you go to the hook/slider on 3-2 there is too big of a chance of walking him. Obviously it didn't work out but it's a good thing we still have the lead going into the 9th. Let's get some insurance here.
