  1. In 2012, this is my message to Brent Lillibridge:
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) Four of the worst six hitters and our hitting coacb can't be fired. We owe Morel and Beckham another chance with a real hitting coach. AMEN!!!! :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy
  3. It's a nice accomplishment for sure, just wish he did it in another uniform this year. I agree he's a class act and a hard working guy, a good teammate. Just not what we needed in LF given the already pathetic nature of our offense. He'll find a job next year, somewhere, but as a 4th OF at around 1-2M per IMHO
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) In related news Last Friday night Paul Konerko hit some shots Adam Dunn struck out a lot Think we lost but I forgot Last Friday night You can put it on the board It's too bad that we can't score This team makes me really bored Last Friday night Buehrle was on the mark Viciedo caused a spark Alex Rios sucks a lot Last Friday Night I don't know what game I saw Please make the suckage stop BOOOOOOO-OH-OH This Friday night Watch them suck again... This Friday night Oh not this s*** again... :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) I'd rather Ozzie learn Flowers can't bunt now when it doesn't matter than to have him try to bunt next year when it might matter. You got word he'll be back? Regarding Morel, I've hated his approach all year, but it's nice to see him finally swing at the ball like a man. I've been waiting for him to turn and burn all year and it appears he is finally doing it (just in time as the season is over). It still doesn't exonerate him from being guilty of being a sally at the plate most of the year, however.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Yeah, outside of Sunday, he's looked a little better recently. He's still awful and you know it. If we decide to start him in 2012 it should be considered a rebuilding year.
  7. The amazing and historic 28-0 finish continues tonight!
  8. when the Twins don't make the playoffs it seems they do it right by just completely tanking and getting a good pick the next year. Looks to be the strategy again this year...unfortunately it seems we go on a run at the end of the year for no good reason and end up worsening our position. Expect the same this year, we may even sweep the Indians and Tigers at home just for kicks.
  9. Perhaps Santos has seen enough this year as well and ran into the wall. In any event, that is 4 straight at Minnesota. I realize they are just a shell of the team they normally are, but it's still nice to get some W's against the twinks.
  10. BTW is 6 pages an all time low for a game thread? EDIT: Make it 7
  11. Dayan hasn't looked locked in since he came up and he's hitting over .350. I look forward to the time where he is locked in...
  12. Humber with a 3.45 ERA after this game. Despite his awful stretch there, that is still very impressive. Hopefully next year he'll be strong enough to go 180 Innings or so.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) I think the weak pop ups to the left side where Dunn doesn't even know where he hit it have concerned me more this year than the strike outs. His bat speed is just gone. Finally!! Someone says it. I have been talking about this all year and haven't had any response to it. It's happened with BOTH Dunn and Rios (although much more with Dunn). I've never seen that out of any major league player ever throughout a whole year where they don't even know where the ball is when they make contact. It's like he's closing his eyes on the swing and has absolutely NO feel of where he's connecting on the bat.
  14. I just read here that Dunn has 6 (count 'em, 6) RBI's since the All Star Break. I about puked and busted out laughing at the same time. Is this really true?!!?!?!
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) I love how you guys keep saying this as though anyone who wants a rebuild is completely ignorant. I am well aware that it may take years, and I'm fine with that. I'll watch anyway. Most likely we're all in next year as well. Just with a new management team, however.
  16. Isn't it interesting that seemingly every year we go into a series in September where we HAVE to sweep (usually it's against the Twins) in order to stay in the race and instead we get swept? Is it just me or is this Deja Vu???
  17. Where is Dick Allen in all of this? It took this long for KW to figure out the swing that Gordon took with him from Georgia was better? LOL, I thought most of us with the exception of the Walker apologists believed that. The guy was a stud. Now he's a headcase. And good luck getting him back to where he was, I don't see it happening, even after Walker is fired. I think the damage is done, but I hope I'm wrong.
  18. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Dude, I am right there with you. Going on almost 9 months for me.. f***ing brutal life we white boys live. I'll drink this next one for you, broseph. Good luck! You guys gotta come over to Eastern Europe there's women everywhere looking for it...
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) What's all of this "blow him up" stuff - KW's extra-marital activities? That was uncalled for by Cowley, basically throwing KW under the bus without saying it, and the comment regarding Toni Braxton was childish as well
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Spiegal comes off as a goof. Basically blaming Cowley for reporting what he knows. Actually I agree with this. Although I have to admit living overseas I am not nearly as close to it as the majority of this board. But I didn't really see much of an issue that Cowley was saying there, if it's true that KW doesn't talk to him and the only way for him to get the story is to get info from Ozzie and others in the locker room.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) I like Ozzie. In my mind he was a good shortstop and a fun player to follow. I wouldn't call him an overrated fielder either. He was a good fielder. People on this board act like he hit like Mark Belanger and fielded like Bee Bee Richard. He was a good player. Our 05 team won in spite of him ... sure it did. Bulls***. He led us to the city's only WS title in about 80 years. I think his quotes are funny. And he's young. He's learned a lot here. It ain't really his fault he can't work with KW. The two are like oil and water. Those are facts. I hope they both get canned, not just one. Because of that they deserve to get axed. Jerry should have yelled at them both last year and said if they didn't grow up and work together and meet once a week in a civil setting they were GONE. But Oz WAS a good player and IS a good manager ... IMO. Greg, you have to admit Ozzie is a horrible tactician. This board could have made better decisions with the bullpen, pulling out starters, and putting in pinch hitters better than Ozzie. For the record, I do like Ozzie as a personality and as the "boss" in the clubhouse. If we get another Jerry Manuel or Gene Lamont next year I'll puke- so from that standpoint I really do like Ozzie. But until he gets a bench coach with a brain that he'll listen to or grow a brain himself I don't see how he'll make it much longer. Batting Rios in the 4 slot is just awful. Pinch hitting for Kittlebridge yesterday was even worse.
  22. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) Let's not bring Iron Mike into this... Couple things, one, Ditka was a great player for the Bears. Two, he had a much better fashion sense with those sweaters and a great mustache. Three, he cooks some mean ribs at his restaurant. Four, he could call the 3-4 HB trap on first down better than any coach in NFL history. Five, the Cubs will never win the World Series again....................
  23. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) I think Guillen should be fired. I think it's laughable to blame any manager for losing a game when your starter gives up 6 runs in the first. LOL Joe, would it have been any different if he gave up those 6 runs in the 5th inning? The truth of the matter is we had a legit chance in the 9th and blew it. Having Rios batting 4th once again is absolutely absurd, and we all know Ozzie is doing it to showcase Kenny's boy in a critical spot in the lineup so Ozzie can throw up his hands and say "these are the guys Kenny gave me!!". Great to see that Ozzie's ego trumps the team's well being because obviously that's all that matters to him...
  24. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) How do you feel about Peavy? Give me a break. You sound like Ozzie, who grand stands in front of the media about "taking responsibility" while at the same time blaming everything on the players. Meaningless platitudes from Ozzie do nothing for me.
  25. Shouldn't it be f***ING obvious to our manager that Dayan should be hitting in the 4 slot? Who else do we have with CQ on the DL? Rios should not get another AB all year. You really can hang this loss on Ozzie as well. He's a f***ing idiot.
