  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Why not? He's a hot topic. Thread starters get shredded around here. +1 There is too much b****ing on this board to topic starters.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Problem is that both Jones and Stewart have NO business pitching in close games right now. Correct. Easily our Achilles heel is in middle relief, not withstanding our question marks on offense.
  3. This is the free game of the day on MLB.TV for the out of towners too cheap to pay for it
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 08:27 AM) Now why on earth would you ever do that? Let's see, it's 525 pm in KIEV now, you could always go out for dinner with her and get back by 9 p.m. Or meet her afterhours at a club. Those girls usually don't like to go out until 11-12 at night and come back home at 3-4-5 a.m. depending on how much ecstasy they're using, lol. I'm getting lazy in my old age (39). Actually this girl is from Ukraine but living and working in Warsaw, Poland. Game time 8:10 PM here, so had to make the hard choice. And LOL, yes you're right these girls tend to be night owls. She works until 5 AM every night. Only date #2 so a bit too early to tell her to come over and service me while I watch the game. Maybe next time, however.
  5. I cancelled a date with a hot Ukrainian stripper to watch this game so we better get a W today!
  6. I tried to make the point the other day that you can argue over the last 2 years he is in his PRIME. It fell on deaf ears, however. To me he's a much better hitter even than the guy we saw have back to back 40 HR seasons IMO. Fun to watch.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 03:07 AM) +1 Can you believe he was the (Sporting News) ROY? I cannot recall a player coming up in his rookie year, looking SO good, and falling off like this to where he is now. Ever.
  8. Gordo looks completely lost up there. I hate his stance, his swing, everything he is doing up there. This is a 180 degrees difference from when he came up. Short, quick, relaxed, thinking right center on his swing. It was amazing to watch, really. I thought we were going to have a perennial all star at second base for 10 years in him. I had high hopes for him coming back this year without Walker etc but when I see the whole stance and swing it looks like he has no chance up there. Just awful.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 05:46 AM) According to his tweet, yes he was. He didn't identify Beckham's date. The way Gordo has swung the bat the past few years he should lower his expectations in the ladies department.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) ???We're talking about Wi-Fi at US Cellular. You watch a live game by looking in front of you. LOL, yes but you can keep track of other games on your iphone, for example, on MLB.TV. Good for people in fantasy baseball leagues and keeping track on what's happening around the league in general.
  11. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Be nice to use it with a smart phone Exactly. I live overseas and was connected to MLB.TV on my iPhone in Kiev, Ukraine watching the game. Incredible quality as well. The technology of watching a live game on something as small as your phone is finally here!
  12. Who else is impressed with the managing of Ventura so far? I have to say it is quite nice to see a manager who knows how to fill out a lineup card on getaway day and make better choices with his bullpen. I know it has been a small sample size but I for one am happy with the current manager so far...but I am not surprised either. As much as I loved Ozzie's dictator attitude and swagger, it's nice to have a manager who has a brain and will make better decisions for us on a day to day basis.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) We're very lucky we didn't have to face Gomez as a starter today. Romero puts the first two on base for TOR, no outs and pitch count around 100. Now what do the Jays do? No confidence in Sergio. Left him out there for the lefty lefty matchup with A GON
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) Looks like we're going to have another Sergio Santos save opportunity again vs. Boston. Nope, Ricky Romero coming out for the 9th to go for a CG
  15. Blue Jays up 2-1 in the bottom of the 8th. Will they bring in Sergio again???
  16. Gotta love the way AJ is turning and burning on the ball.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) Sox strand a couple of two out runners and lead 4-1 going to bottom of third. Paulie looks like a one legged dog running the bases
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) Is the game going to start on time? According to the Radar I don't see it happening as it appears this weather system is stuck over the city, but I'm no weatherman. Probably means it will start right on time in fact.
  19. Is Will Ohman really the first man out of the pen in a tie game? I hope not. Not sure if we'll see Peavy in the 7th now with him at 90+ pitches.
  20. To me, RIGHT NOW is going to be the test of Robin Ventura. Knowing when to pull pitchers and when not to, which Ozzie was absolutely awful at.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2012 -> 08:20 PM) He made good contact, but that's one of the concerns with him, and that is that he just doesn't have enough power to the opposite field to fit his swing. Oh well, baby steps Reminds me of that Joe Crede "warning track" type power we saw out of him his first few years in a White Sox uniform. On another note, I think you can honestly make the argument that PK entered his "prime" about a year or two ago. He's always been a great hitter but his performance over the past few years with virtually no one behind him is even more impressive than his back to back 40 HR years, IMO.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 4, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Gotta love Ozzie's philosophy.Even if we get caught stealing we'll keep running. Ya I was thinking the same thing. Ha.
  23. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 2, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) For the first time in my life, I am older than every player on the Sox active roster. See, Omar Vizquel was good for something the last two years. +1
  24. Hawk won't mention Carl Yastremski's name even once during a live broadcast all year
  25. Why not just go by committee and let it all work itself out? I don't see a reason to have to anoint someone the job at the stage, especially if its Thornton or Crain when we know probably neither of them will finish the year closing (just a hunch)
