  1. I'd like to see Jones/Crain/Reed right now for 7-8-9
  2. Did I hear right that he was planning on going to college and committed to some school? Doesn't this effectively mean we've lost him after his 4 years are over there? I'm a bit confused on this issue and the changes we would lose him if he chose college instead- not clear on the rules I guess...
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Guys, enough with the whose dick is bigger argument. None of us care about your fantasy team and whose right/wrong about this. http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7795997/no...y-football-team
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) Then why don't they just put KY on waivers? See if anyone picks him up. Like we did when we took Rios. I think Boston is greedier than that. We'll see. If it's true that he could be had for a bag of baseballs + taking on the contract/buyout then my guess is we'll see him put on waivers after they've exhausted the other options- but if they can get a prospect in return plus a team to take on the $ why not try? My guess is they want to wait until late July and see if teams get more desperate and are willing to pay a higher price. Just speculation however.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2012 -> 10:45 AM) Eh, it doesn't take balls when that's all you do. I wouldn't say that is ALL he does. He has some valid points from time to time that the majority of Soxtalkers agree with.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2012 -> 10:22 AM) Oh, "Marty", this thread title is just hanging you out to dry everytime it gets bumped. *bump I give Marty credit for going out on a limb and making a statement which he definitely knew he could be hung for and constantly reminded of for years to come. He was dead wrong in my opinion but I still give him the brass balls award for taking such an unpopular stand in the forum.
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) And have Sale and Peavy start less games. No thanks. Well I hear you but the idea is to save their arms a bit. Our rotation consists of a lot of guys with questionable durability...
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:09 PM) It's hard for me to say the trade was bad when it made perfect sense. It seemed like a very fair deal at the time...unfortunately all of the worst things happened. Swisher had next to no value when we traded him away. The way Swisher was handled was one of the first big red flags for Ozzie Guillen for me. Agreed. KW couldn't wait to get rid of Swish and was willing to accept just about anything in return. We all were scratching our heads on that one. That said, at the time, it was no guarantee that Gio was going to figure it out. Obviously it hurts seeing the pitcher he has become, however.
  9. Whats wrong with a 6 man rotation? We talked about it before? And I think almost everyone in the rotation benefits from the extra day. IMO this needs to be strongly considered, at least for a few more starts to see what Quintana is made of.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 30, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) De Aza said he hopes to play Friday, per Daryl Van Schouwen. Good news. And I swear the pitcher on the Rays was trying to drill him. 100%. Glad we swept em. Onward.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:48 PM) He's a birther idiot. Why do you say "idiot"? Just challenging your belief system here, as it seems to be dictated by the mainstream media. If you actually reviewed the facts you might be surprised on what you find on this issue, as strange as it sounds.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) ADA gonna be ok? Who knows. He walked off the field without help, but was limping. I thought it was just a stinger to the side of the knee like you get in basketball (where you cannot move for 2 minutes but then the pain is gone) but it seemed to last longer. I hope the ball didn't hit the knee cap. Who knows...cross your fingers.
  13. Very economical work by Jones. 4 outs in 8 pitches? Bring him out for the 6th!
  14. I am not sure if today's play at the plate had anything to do with it, but when AJ scored on the sac fly he gave Molina a pretty solid knee to the face (didn't seem intentional) but perhaps that was why AJ got pegged today?
  15. When Danks comes back shouldn't we CONSIDER a 6 man rotation if Quintana can keep this up? He looks really comfortable out there.... This would limit the innings on Peavy/Sale/Etc, not to mention continue to give this guy a chance if Humber continues to disappoint (outside of yesterday's outing)
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) We would be better off next year with a robotic hitting coach, video and computer simulations. Then we can answer the question once and for all about the value of a human hitting coach. Even in Atlanta, Walker has an assistant hitting coach in Scott "Scooter" Fletcher who's spending as much time, if not more, with their young hitters. And apparently their two approaches are very, very different. So can we realistically ascertain which one as actually had the bigger impact? Did not know this!!!!! I always liked Scooter and would not be surprised if he was a solid hitting coach.
  17. I didn't support Walker whatsoever over the past few years, but he has done a great job in Atlanta it appears. It was just one of those situations where it was obvious we needed a change for the sake of making a change and should've done it years ago.
  18. In Kiev, Ukraine right now at Buddha Bar. Was just teaching this girl about baseball right when PK hit that dinger!!! Awesome. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be hitting a homer with her tonight. First date.
  19. Most people believe on this forum that the White Sox are strapped for cash year in and year out. This team can spend a lot more than we are led to believe...whether they do it or not is another question. But they CAN if they want to.
  20. I wonder right now how many people would be in favor of, at this point, to dump the Dunn and Rios contracts for a bag of baseballs to any team willing to take them on. What do you think the polling would show for this? My guess is only 50% would say do it MAX at this moment, today, whereas at spring training that number would probably be 90%+
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:08 AM) Clearly, KW really messed up and didn't trade Viciedo a month ago like Marty knew he should. Now, he has no value.
  22. When Rios is locked in, I swear the ball jumps off his bat as good as ANYONE in baseball. Hopefully he can stay locked in for a while.
  23. Which manager was Hawk just talking about that wanted to micro manage every pitch?
