  1. I just jumped on here so forgive me if this has been mentioned, but I had to laugh when Hawk and Stone were promising how many runs we were going to score today.....please...
  2. Meanwhile Pierre just bought himself another month on the club with 3 hits last night. Ughhh.
  3. The worst thing about this game is Juan got a few hits and that means he'll get a free pass of sucky play for the next few weeks.
  4. Can someone explain to me if there is an incentive for us to keep Dayan in the minors a bit longer because it extends our arbitration time with him? I believe it's based on service time in the bigs but I am not exactly sure how that works. It's not a good reason for keeping him there of course but you always need to consider the business side of things....
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) Juan Pierre's June slashline: .200/.259/.240/.499. He's 1/2 SB/SBO. It is of my belief and unprofessional opinion that JP is not performing at an acceptable standard of what should be expected for even an average Major League baseball player. Despite these terrifying/embarrassing splits, he still leads the team in plate appearances for this month. That, to me, demonstrates that our manager, a man who's paid handsomely to, well, manage and put this group of 25 professional ball players in the best position to succeed, is either not seeing what is painfully obvious (and you would then naturally have to question his baseball intelligence) or that he's so, what's the word, obstinate (yes, that will suffice), that he'd rather go down his way than to adapt or adjust on the fly, in essence doing something that you don't really want to do but doing so because it would be beneficial for the team he gets paid to manage. We are now three months into the season and all the "it's early" talk no longer holds sufficient water. You simply cannot give a player of Juan Pierre's caliber another 300+ PAs because of staunch adherence. There's no legitimate logic behind this. Well, other than, let's see, "I'm DA focking manger and I make da facking lineups" or "You guys have to work real jobs. Wat do you know?" Agreed, this must come to an end soon. I agree with Greg we have several other deserving candidates for batting 9th, unfortunately, but we must start somewhere and JP is the most expendable candidate to go right now because of all signs pointing to Viciedo being ready. JP's skills have clearly diminished and it's time to DFA him. Like it or not, we're locked in with Rios and Dunn and we have to hope they can break out of it (Rios is showing some signs of late). I wouldn't mind sending Gordon down for a month and getting him some confidence again.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 07:18 AM) I was just responding to the "worst World Series-winning manager" post earlier. Torborg and Guillen have been my favorites. I really would like Ozzie if he wasn't so pig headed and just admitted when he was wrong and quit while he was behind with Kotsay, Pierre, etc. Personality wise I think he's good for Chicago, and clearly the boss, which I like in a manager.
  7. QUOTE (Nokona @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) It's either that or he plays coy for the next month, constantly flirting with the rules and being an even more pain in the ass than usual. Aren't we taking things a bit too seriously here? I'm sure if you met J4L in person he's probably a good guy just like the rest of us. And secondly, everyone should understand that you cannot always read into the tone of someone's words when reading them off a monitor.
  8. Cmon guys we're all a family here. A dysfunctional one, for sure, but still a family. And yes, we have a few black sheep as well (J4L, Milkman, Greg, etc) but can't we all just get along?
  9. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Cmon, I shove people down a staircase all the time. Aint no thing Any guesses on what is going on there?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) If Paul Konerko wasn't here, we were going to be fully rebuilding. A lot of people were talking here that we should sign D Lee instead and save 5M and use it on a reliever, so not so sure about that...
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Big time pitch Phil. You wonder how bad this team would be without Phil Humber and Paul Konerko...two guys most of us weren't thinking would be on the roster in November of last year
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) This is a guy that Adam Dunn really ought to be able to hit. Don't look now but Minnesota won again. For like the 20,000,000 time in a row. They are not out of it and I would not be surprised if they are in second or third place by the break.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Teahen fields a bunt, Adam Dunn catches a fly ball in RF, Juan Pierre has a solid single to LF for the first hit. Earth is doomed. I think that's the first time I've seen Pierre "make something happen" all year...and I am not kidding.
  14. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Yeah once and a while.... A long while Pierre wouldn't deserve to play in the annual Soxtalk softball game
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Pierre LF, Vizquel 2B, Ramirez SS, Konerko 1B, Dunn RF, Rios CF, Pierzynski C, Teahen 3B, Humber P It's so God awful to see that name "Pierre" in the lineup. For those who don't subscribe to MLB.TV but live out of town etc today's game is free on MLB.TV
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 12:03 AM) Damn, I'd like to see it. Ask and you shall receive: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/mlb/gameda...33&c_id=cws This is Rios' 3 run homer, but if you click on "Mora's double to the wall" you will see the almost catch by the stealth elf.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) 1. A little more pop doesn't help you if you can't field the ball. If you haven't seen Morel doing the job at 3b you haven't been paying attention. 2. Mark Teahen's .577 OPS is not "a little more pop" in the lineup. I am not talking about Teahen. I am talking about Lillibomb. I don't want Teahen anywhere near this starting lineup. And if you think Lillibridge would be a hack at 3B, then so be it. I don't think he would.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) That's um, teh exact opposite of simple. Lillibridge has never played 3rd, and Teahen has never played 3rd well. Morel has been hitting well since the start of May, and has taken time to grow in at every step in the org. PLus, he's playing plus defense already, while Teahen would play at best bad defense there. I think calling that 3b proposal "Simple" is pretty arrogant myself. When we're having trouble scoring runs, and Morel doesn't even have gap power, it's not the worst suggestion. Just because Lillipad hasn't played 3B doesn't mean he wouldn't play it decent to well. A lot of people thought he'd suck in the outfield and he's been fantastic out there. I'd be all for it personally, anything to get more pop in the lineup.
  19. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:51 AM) I still have faith. I don't have any faith in Ozzie or Kenny. None. I still of course hope this pathetic team can play up to their potential. Sorry to be a downer, but Ozzie's comments about JP last night really get me fired up. We went all of last year b****ing about Mark Kotsay, and the irony is all of this year we get the same thing but in the name of Juan Pierre. f*** you Ozzie! That said, it would be nice to get a W tonight
  20. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 03:20 AM) I like it, but here's what i want: Lillibridge LF Ramirez SS Paulie 1B Dunn DH CQ RF Viciedo 3B (at this point I don't care if he's a butcher at 3B) Rios CF AJ C Beckham 2B This is our winning lineup this year in my opinion but with Lillibridge at 3B and Dayan in the outfield. I know, I know, I know Lillipad hasn't ever played 3B, but then again, he rarely played the outfield before this year as well and look at what he's done. I'm sure he's capable of being decent over there. Of course it will never happen. I'm so sick of this team, this organization, this manager, this GM, they are a joke. f*** you Ozzie and your love for one of the worst players in the game. Sure, we need to play Rios and Dunn because of the contracts and their talent level but it is so CLEAR that JP is done, it's sickening. And yet you heard him tonight. We will only get more. Mark Kotsay anyone?
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 11:27 AM) You can't just put aside his defense, as that has single-handedly lost us three games this year. Kinda ironic how Lillibridge's defense has won us 2-3 games this year already. As for rushing Viciedo to the majors, I think that's ridiculous. He showed last year he belongs, he showed in ST he belongs, and he's putting up numbers in AAA that the rest of our pathetic farm system could only dream of. He's a major league caliber player who's playing in the minors, which Juan is the total opposite. +10000000000000
  22. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 01:11 AM) I'd bet he wouldn't lead the league in making them.
  23. From what I've heard regarding Dave Martinez, it sounds like he would be a great fit- and I'm sure the first thing he'd do is DFA Pierre and bring up DV? Who wouldn't??? It's so blatantly obvious. And Kenny has to go as well since he damn well knows Pierre sucks but can't tell Ozzie what to do. I agree, if we are truly "all in" we have to take drastic measures now instead of letting this circus show continue of Ozzie putting us in the worst position to win each and every night by marching that clown out there in LF and being out managed 70-80% of the time. There is no excuse with all of this talent to be in the position we're in today. And there needs to be some accountability on our hitting coach to help along guys with talent like Rios and Beckham who cannot dig themselves out of their rut. To score ONE FRIGGIN RUN against the Twins in 2 games? GMAB. I used to trust in KW and Ozzie for a long time after 2005 but it truly appears that was an aberration and they were lucky more than anything else to get what they got that year...I am happy with saying "thanks for 2005" and "don't let the door hit you on your way out". The opportunity this organization had after 2005 was immeasurable, and we squandered it bigtime and it's time to go in a new direction.
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Just gotta tip your cap, actually, let's just give them the wins automatically vs us. We can then have some extra offdays. I honestly wish we just forfeited these two games. We all knew coming in we were going down and would lose both, no matter what. Admit it, deep down you knew it. We'll be lucky to go 5-14 again this year against the Twinks. I guess it wasnt the HHH metrodome that was the problem.
  25. I swear I've lost confidence that Gordon Beckham will ever become a good MLB player. Can't Walker see that he's loading late and fouling off every pitch to the right? He was so much better before having Walk get into his head. We need a new manager and batting coach NOW Jerry. Are you really "ALL IN"? Then FIRE OZZIE and FIRE WALKER.
