  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 17, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) Come on, rant? My post was not even close to a rant. Jesus Christ, guys. The slightest big of negativity and the person is a raving lunatic now? I think actually he was talking about me, lol
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) This has nothing to do with Juan Pierre unless Pierre can play 3b. In fact it probably makes the Pierre thing more ensconced since Teahen was one of our backup OF's and now he's unavailable. Everyone is just thinking so logically here. Since Teahen plays 3B sometimes then we need to replace him with a 3B, NO MATTER WHAT RIGHT? NONSENSE. We had other options. We made the wrong decision, again.
  3. Oh the logic in here is so annoying with those backing Ozzie and Kenny on this saying we'd have to bench Dayan anyways. This is an opportunity to reconsider the whole Pierre situation and of course we made the wrong decision. THAT is what this is about. WAKE UP!
  4. This move is right up there with starting Kotsay everyday for virtually the whole season. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kotsama01.shtml Check out the "sponsor" of his page,
  5. I literally cannot imagine how bad the management of this team is. What a sad day to be a White Sox fan, it's like they are trying to lose on purpose. What a JOKE. F**K YOU OZZIE AND KENNY! You assh**es suck!
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) The only reason Juan has a roster spot is because they think he can leadoff. The minute you move him from that position you need to evaluate why is he out there in the first place. Having him out there fumbling around in LF is a waste. The only thing batting him 9th does is to avoid having one of your worst hitters getting the most ABs. I say you bring up Viciedo and put him in LF. Agreed. It's time to DFA Juan, his skills have severely diminished and it's hard to think of a team that would actually pick him up today, even for the league minimum. He's a zero tool player when you consider the fact his speed no longer matters because he's such a horrible all around baserunner.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) I think there should be positive energy cause of the 6-3 trip. That's why I initially didn't like the idea of booing Juan. I mean that's stupid buzzkill in the first inning. If this team is going to creep back to .500 it has to keep winning series. Texas is capable of sending us back to s***sville. We need to play good baseball to beat Tex. Booing is bad mo jo. Agreed. Anyways the reality is I don't think most fans have a clue just how bad Pierre is, really. This board knows. And I assume Ozzie and KW "kinda" know but are too close to their operation to truly see it from an objective standpoint.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Who would you compare Juan Pierre to at this stage of his career? Some past player? I'd say Rock Raines when he finally couldn't hit or steal anymore. A LF version of Andy Gonzalez, zero tool player
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) I do understand he sucks maybe even worse than those guys I mentioned, but those other guys have been huge reasons our team is buried as well. I don't like a class act like Pierre catching ALL the venom of our fans and have a cop out of booing him that most of the boos are for Ozzie. Man up and boo Ozzie if you hate Ozzie's handling of Juan. You're right that other guys deserve serious boo's out there. Rios and Beckham especially deserve an earful. You can let Dunn pass because of the surgery and he seems to be coming around and is a proven player so he should break out of it soon. Rios and Becks have no excuse for their play. Maybe Beckham just isn't as good as we all thought he was after 2009. And all of this coming after a 6-3 road trip! I really wonder how many boo birds will be out tonight as they do deserve a FEW claps for a nice road trip where we usually get slaughtered.
  10. Does anyone else believe that KW is afraid to DFA Juan Pierre for worries about creating a rift with Ozzie? I mean, come on. He's awful and has cost us at least 3 ballgames this year and probably more if we had someone who could actually hit getting the most PA's for our team. Can't he see that? He's got to.
  11. QUOTE (SoxnGiants @ May 16, 2011 -> 08:33 AM) He's the guy that preaches that ridiculous pitching style, no? He says that the normal pitching style will cause injuries no matter how often you pitch but logically you have to assume the odds increase the more you pitch. Now, that's not to say I totally disagree with him. I think pitchers should have good mechanics and they should throw more, but I actually love the idea of a 6 man rotation. I think pitchers should just throw more on the off days where they can manage the pitching (i.e. easier on the arm, less curveballs, etc) but build strength and durability. Then manage the training to ensure peak performances for game days, similar to how runners set up their training runs to ensure peak performance for their races. I remember Jon Garland didn't pitch for 9 days going into Game 3 of the ALCS in 2005 and he pitched great and had more life on his fastball than ever, so I take Marshall's comments with a grain of salt.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2011 -> 06:38 AM) There's no chance in hell they move Beckham to 3B. Never going to happen. Why not? His hitting can't get any worse than it is now, if you're concerned about the "mental impact" on him changing a position. And if that is the argument of the Sox organization, they should be ashamed of themselves. Treating players like they are all sensitive little puss boys who aren't mentally strong enough to handle any slight adjustment is no way to run a ball club. We have a serious need to get Dayan into our lineup and Pierre OUT. This is clearly the best way while not sacrificing anything on D, IMO
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2011 -> 06:33 AM) Except Lillibridge has never played 3B in his entire life. Fine, move Becks over there and put Lilli at 2B. Don't forget Beckham had his best year for us at 3B and his defense was just fine over there.
  14. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:28 AM) If the Sox aren't ready to give Viciedo a shot at LF, there is another feasible in house solution. Ozzie probably won't be satisfied unless he has a legitimate stolen base threat at the top of the lineup. Therefore, why not platoon de Aza and Lillibridge in LF? They both have good speed, stolen base skill, and play good defense. De Aza has hit righties really well the last couple of years, with an OBP consistently over .400, and he's continuing to do so this year at Charlotte. Lillibridge has been very good vs. lefties the last two years, albeit in very limitted playing time. I can't believe that platoon could be anywhere near as bad as J. P. and the defense would be improved tremendously. I liked the other previously proposed option on another thread where we put Lillibridge at 3B and lead him off and bring in Dayan. This makes our offense so much better it's ridiculous. We have two easy outs batting 9 and 1 (Morel/Pierre) and that eliminates them both and still gives Ozzie a "speed guy" at the top as we all know he is so hell bent on having one. This is such a simple and obvious solution it is ridiculous to think that our management is unwilling to make this change.
  15. All I know is how we can continue to march JP out there leading off of all things is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe KW isn't having a discussion with Ozzie about this...it's turning into a much WORSE situation than the Mark Kotsay DH debacle of 2010 in my opinion. What a joke, really. This team would be immediately improved if we put Dayan out there in the OF and started to play Teahen/Oldmar more at 3B. Send Morel down and if Ozzie doesn't want to DFA Pierre we can have him pinch run (although I'd hate to see that as well with how awful he's been this year at baserunning)
  16. He has no slider either today. Clearly doesn't have it, hopefully he can close the door on guts alone
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) I don't know what you guys are seeing. If Pierre had dropped that ball, we'd all be saying "Here things go again for Matt" and they'd look just like they did when MT was pitching the 9th inning. The difference was in a lot of those blown saves is the ball was getting hit HARD against him and he was 2-0 or 2-1 the whole time it seemed. Sure, JP screwed MT a few times but the old Thornton seems to be back for me in the setup role.
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 15, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) Is it any wonder Thornton has started to become the usual Matt Thornton since he was put back in his 7th/8th inning role?? JUAN CAUGHT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was about time Ozzie realized this and put him back into a role where he could contribute. I wish I could say the same about Juan Pierre, where his best suited role is being designated for assignment.
  19. If I didn't see Juan Pierre or Brent Morel the rest of the year I'd be one really happy camper
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) Better question tex would be if you think KW has done a good job with his trades/transactions the last 3 years? Exactly. His recent performance has been garbage on trades and transactions. I give him credit for the Quentin pickup and getting Danks. But the amount of damage done from the Swisher DEALS cannot be understated in my opinion.
  21. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 14, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) The irony in this post is laughable. Never mind the fact that KW once traded an "untouchable" prospect to get Danks, and that untouchable prospect turns to s*** while Danks turns out good. You have no faith in KW's ability to get talent for Danks when he originally brought Danks in? Seriously? Also, why do people just assume the draft pick compensation is going to be around after the new CBO? All indications are that baseball wants those removed. It's more of a recency thing. I used to trust in KW, but I can no longer after the Swisher trade, where we got nothing back in return for a guy who had one bad year in our uniform but still IMO was a proven player (and now has gone on to prove that clearly). That trade was absolutely awful, the Yanks raped us on that trade and I felt that way immediately after hearing about it and history has proved me right. It seemed that KW was willing to do anything just to get him out of town, including getting fleeced. I don't care how much you hate a guy don't give him away for nothing if he has value. To me that is completely unacceptable, and it hurt this franchise big time especially when you consider what we gave up for Swish to begin with.
