  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 1, 2011 -> 07:53 AM) I admit I'm dumb a lot of the time. But what does this thread mean? Glad I am not the only one. BTW did you get lucky last night?
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2011 -> 07:57 AM) Beckham will be fine, as to the rest, its a good thing the majority of Soxtalk posters aren't GMs. You would be forced to have a payroll of about $25 million, because all all the money you would be paying players you released and other personnel you fired. As has always been said, the baseball season is a marathon. There is so much that can and will happen by the end of the year. Some you are all calling bums still will be bums, some you are calling bums you'll want KW to sign to a long extension by the end of the year. I don't find anything wrong with being upset. If you're a fan of this team, you should be upset, but realize while maybe this team isn't going to be good enough to win the WS, we don't know that yet, there is even a smaller chance they are as bad as they have shown. Matt Thornton broke 2 bats and struck a guy out yesterday and the result was 1 run in runners on 2nd and 3rd with no out. He got booed off the field. s*** happens. Unfortunately for us, its happening almost everyday to the White Sox. Thornton sure didn't have any luck whatsoever yesterday, but you can appreciate the boos, everyone on this teams deserves an earful, and I mean everyone. If they're not strong enough to take the boos and raise their level of intensity and competitive juices (which appears to be at about a 2 on a scale of 1-10 right now) then they all should move back in with their parents and cry to their mommies. Someone needs to pay for Gordo's slow start, his mechanics are awful. If they just let him swing like he did before Walker got in his head he'd probably be leading the league in doubles and hitting .320 right now.
  3. It's officially May, and he's hitting .194. I want to blame his demise on Walker. Too extreme? Where do we go from here? Seems we have to continue to play him everyday and hope he breaks out of it (yet again)
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Because it's working so well with Adam Dunn?
  5. I appreciate the Sox Talk header but I think this one is jinxed. We need to put our collective heads together and decide what we need to do in order to get Becks and Rios going again. Perhaps a header with the both of them in the fold? EDIT: I am talking about the header graphic for the website with Adam Dunn. I have a few web designers who can put together a few options if anyone thinks this can turn the season around for us ala Rally Crede.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 01:25 AM) When will Ozzie be fired? Or won't he? Honest question. He won't be fired this year or even 2012 no matter what our record is. I think JR still regrets the letting go of LaRussa and holds Ozzie in high regard just as he does with LaRussa. The bottom line, however, is it appears Ozzie can't get his guys to play hard everyday for him and his decision making is suspect at best. I'd really like to see Walker fired NOW and get another guy who can work with Rios and Beckham as if those guys aren't hitting we don't stand a chance and it's quite obvious now Walk isn't delivering the goods on either of those key players for us.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 03:45 AM) This thread is ridiculous. There are more than 5 months left in the season! Yeah but at what point do you realize that we're digging a hole for ourselves that is damn near impossible to get out of? Every game counts and all of these bad losses will haunt us come September.
  8. I dont think this team has a 25-5 run in them, so I'm hitting the panic button after this weekend if they don't take the next two games. It's so disappointing to put ourselves in this position where the season is almost over come May 1 again. It's just too hard to play .630 ball or whatever from this point forward that we need to do now to get to 90 wins which is probably the number needed to win the division.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) Where the f*** is the accountability? Someone needed to be fired after that road trip. I couldn't agree more. We're going to have the worst record in baseball it appears going into May. And we're all in. f***ing Joke
  10. Hawk says this is a good ballclub not playing well...LOL sounds familiar like the last 5 yrs we've been saying that????
  11. Bad job from TCQ there, he didn't seem to be thinking right field at all during his at bat either
  12. I want this swing back from Gordo!!! http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=5277447 UGHHHHHHH
  13. Fartolo isn't this good. He has no breaking ball today and the fastball isn't over powering even though he's moving it around a bit. This is just another classic offensive disaster from our team and we need a new hitting coach, NOW. If we fired Walker who is available we can replace him with?
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) Aside from murdering someone or statutory rape, is there anything Greg Walker can do to lose his job?
  15. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) As opposed to stinkin' it up up here?!? Ugly Gordo. UGLY!
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Not if it's above his knees
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) Do you really think that he is going to develop under what we have down there. What go down to AAA and crush some of the Felix Diaz's of the world in that bandbox. All I know is Gordo comes up and tears the cover off the ball within a few weeks of being on the team. Then Walker gets into his head, changes his entire swing, and now he's got like 2243 thoughts in his head up there and he can't even kick up his leg until the ball is nearly by him cuz he's thinking so much.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) Sometime before I die a highly touted White Sox prospect will come up and dominate from day one. I'm thinking 2018. Last one was Frank Thomas maybe?
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) His stance looks different, swing mechanics has changed. I would venture that he has been "fixed". Just like Tiger Woods swing change after the divorce. That's really worked out well for him
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) Remember when Sox fans, myself included, wouldn't have traded Gordon for anything outside of Pujols? Yeah, I miss those days. Yep, now he's the Gordon Beckham of the 1st half of 2010 once again and it's ugly...I am starting to have serious concerns whether or not he'll make it as a big leaguer now, really
  21. What is Gordo's problem?? He seems to be starting way late and secondly it seems he's thinking WAY too much up at the plate. At some point the guy just needs to react like he did in 2009 and we got a #2 hitter...ughhh
  22. I don't know what to say about Gordo anymore but I really had high hopes for him this year after his second half before the hand injury etc. He is just absolutely horrible right now. I wonder what he was doing back in 2009 that he's not doing now. Maybe he was just reacting back then but now he seems to be thinking SO MUCH up there that it's painful to watch.
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) I only sign Mark as a 5th starter making 5th stater money, whatever that is these days. I know it sounds crazy with the state we're in but if we're lucky enough to make the playoffs it wouldnt surprise me if MB is out of the rotation. Secondly Gordo looks lost out there. Pathetic.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) If we're trying to totally destroy Viciedo's chances of ever being a successful big leaguer, moving him to yet another position is probably just about the best possible way to do it. I know it's not going to happen but I'd like to see it. And no, I don't believe putting him at 3B automatically means he'll become a basketcase because his D is subpar...he's already shown he can rake at the MLB level last year, did it while he was healthy in ST, and I expect him to continue no matter what position he plays. Treating these guys like little sallies worrying about their mental game is so overplayed in today's game...it reminds me of the people who argued that the big hurt should start in the minors in 1990 even though he raked all ST that year and easily should have made the team. The reason? They didn't want to hurt his confidence. Give me a break. He debuted in August and hit .330 with a .983 OPS in 240 AB's that year. Ultimately I think RF seems to be his home but since we're hell bent on starting Pierre every night there is no room for him there. Why not try him at 3B and see what happens? Are we worried about his confidence?
  25. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) I understand that he's a rookie, but with their record as it is, this isn't the time for Morel to "work through it". I'd like to see Vizquel's time at third continue to increase. I'd like to see him sent down and bring up Viciedo and force him to learn 3B, we need another real bat in our lineup
