  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) So Taguchi? Or that was Tadahito's nickname here?
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) What about Alexei's glove flip to bare-handed Paulie when he used to play 2B? I think that play is better than half the plays listed in the poll. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=3182512 It was a good one, forgot about that...
  3. I have to agree. Clutch plays like that to steal victory from the jaws of defeat last for a long time, at least a week or so
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:38 AM) Thornton was setting up. You don't want Santos facing Granderson, and Teixeira is ever so slightly more likely to end the game against Santos than he is Thornton (not that he couldn't park one against either...18 PA/HR as a lefty, 22 PA/HR as a righty). Some of it may be command, but there is also a reason Thornton didn't give Teixeira anything good to hit. Then Ozzie played it by the book and had Santos face ARod (though it's never mattered to ARod what hand a pitcher throws with), and left him in to get Cano when if he really wanted to micromanage he could have had Sale up and ready to go to face Cano. Santos is the closer. Understood I am just saying that it would be nice to get our BP set back up again where we're not scrambling around trying to piece everything together, leaving the starter in when it's probably pushing it because we don't trust the pen, bringing in 3 guys to close the door in the 9th etc. I realize Santos is the closer now and that is well defined. But if this is 2010 we start and end the inning with Bobby in there no matter what the matchups are, and it would be nice to have things in order again to where we have Matt in his most comfortable role which has been the 7-8th in my opinion.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:27 AM) Where is the catch? Good call, that's right up there as well...an amazing play by D Wise
  6. Even if we lost I'd still be happy with the job Santos did, as Fathom said A Rod and Cano are two of the best in the world. I really wish Ozzie would move Thornton back into his old role so we can get our setup guy back. This whole experiment with him closing has really cost us bigtime as now I fear he's becoming a bit of a mental case.
  7. Good topic. I was at the blackout game and that catch by BA was awesome. But for me I chose the Joe Crede option because of the plays he made in Game 1, the most amazing sporting event I've been to in my life and probably ever will.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) Ramirez singles and then is caught stealing 2nd. We sure do have alot of guys caught stealing it seems I'd say we have the highest disparity between getting caught and throwing out opponents in the league. Seems our caught stealing rate is 60% and our throw out rate like 5%
  9. When was the last time Santos saw some action in a game? Obviously Ozzie thought he was well rested, could get 4 outs and went ahead and went with him. Personally I agree with the move he made as he hasn't given up a run this year and when you have a 1-10 record in your last 11 and a 1-0 lead in Yankee stadium you put your best guy out there to get 4 outs, period. It's an easy call to say Sergio has been our best out of the pen this year. It sucks we don't have the confidence in anyone else right now but it is what it is, when you have a guy in your pen with a 0.00 era so far this year and everyone else pretty much has blown a lead late, I think it's a pretty easy decision. Of course we cannot have him for 4 out saves all year but special circumstances call for special action.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) Sox always play Yankees tough and find ways to lose to crappy teams. Its just White Sox baseball. And I completely disagree on Santos. No way would I bring him out there after sitting this entire inning and having to face Granderson, A-Rod, Teix. Id rather have Thornton face Granderson, flip Teix to righty as well. I understand but Matt has looked nothing but scared, timid and weak in closing situations this year. What is he like 0 for 4?
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Why do people think that Ozzie has a new closer. Thornton is going to close this game, and if he is successful hell close the next game. There is just no way you let Santos throw in the 8th if hes going to close in the 9th. Interesting, but I see Santos coming out in the 9th.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) Considering Peavy is probably a month away at best, I really think the decision will be easy. You're implying what?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) Ozzie better not let Humber start the 8th. It's these decisions RIGHT NOW where I feel like we're always walking on thin ice. Personally I want Thornton for the 8th and Sergio in the 9th.
  14. Beckham looks like he did last April. Really disappointing, I was a bit worried with all the predictions of him having a huge year this year...
  15. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) yeah...keep trying to pull the outside pitches. jesus. Morel should be sent down now, bring up Dayan and put him at 3B, really. He has no chance.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) I wonder if Beckham can even pull the ball during batting practice. Between him and Rios, every fan has received a foul ball down the RF line. Why do I get the sinking feeling nobody on our coaching staff has pointed this out to them??
  17. That fly ball to Q seemed like a routine fly ball but Hawk's excitement pretty much says it all regarding our expectations of these guys out there...
  18. Ya, that's really funny Oz. I'm sorry but I don't see the humor in sucking so bad. Secondly, Rios has no excuse to not turn around that 3-1 fastball, great analysis on this board about him getting started too late and definitely Becks has the same problem. Too bad the guys running the show are clueless
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) I'm all for that also. If Viciedo was so untouchable last season, it seems odd that the plan was to keep him in the minors all this year. I was worried that Morel would turn out to be another BA (awarded the job as a rookie prior to ST even though some lip service was paid to Teahen) this year and it appears its turning out that way. On another note it's pretty sad we call a runner on 2nd base with no outs a "golden opportunity"....that pretty much describes how bad this offense has been
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 05:51 PM) Well, that was a pathetic at bat by Morel. He'll be back in Charlotte by mid May. You really shouldn't be playing in our park with a corner infielder who has no power. I vote for bringing up Dayan and telling him to learn 3B, really. Either that or stick him in right, put TCQ in left and put someone else at leadoff. This lineup needs some punch and yes, we make way too many easy outs...
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) pierre makes even routine fly balls look challenging I swore he breathed a sigh of relief after catching that...it's ridiculous really
