  1. He hits righties at 792 and lefties at 974 so would be the third biggest threat after Vaughn and Anderson…on paper. Vaughn 843, Anderson 793. Adam Frazier, while LH, is equally bad both ways, .580 and .582. Benintendi 825 against RHP but low 600’s against lefties. Other than Josh Bell, he’s probably the best available LH option.
  2. The Nick Williams of this season? By the way, where’s Jake Lamb or Billy Hamilton when you need someone to spark the team again? There are plenty of options. Onetime future HoFer Robinson Cano actually accepted a AAA assignment. And with Gordon, wouldn’t the Sox need to wait for the waiver claim period to end or propose a trade first?
  3. If you go through all the Top 30 ops leaders, Brandon Drury might be the most obscure. 29 and LH, so younger than Cesar Hernandez, but certainly less experience in the AL obviously. Turning 30 in August. Versatility but not an outfielder as well like Adam Frazier. -0.5 fWAR combined for the last three seasons. Suddenly on a pace for roughly 4 fWAR. Cheap as dirt contract. FA at the end of this season…all that sounds quite familiar.
  4. Should have used it on Yolbert Sanchez…he was/is never going to be perceived as anything more than a utility guy, and he’s even less ideally suited to play SS or 3rd than Mendick. Hard to imagine what Grandal, Pollock, Harrison, Engel, Leury and Abreu will look like another year from now. Depressing is the first adjective that comes to mind. If we had a decent/productive farm system, the majority of those guys would have been pushed off the roster. You can argue Vaughn is there with Abreu, and Sosa with Harrison/Leury. Still looking at mid year 2023 at a possible Colas debut, so that means a better solution than anything currently on the roster (no, not Vaughn, either) has to be investigated. The more I think about it, they might have no choice but to push Colas without another $10-15 million to throw at that position. Conforto would be too risky after sitting out so long.
  5. Josh Bell, Happ, Contreras, Drury…statistically the current top of the trade market, those four guys.
  6. Back to only three teams in the AL with worse RS/RA numbers. Tigers, Royals and A’s. The bigger problem is the route to the 5th/6th Wild Card spot gets more and more difficult by the day. We’re now to the point where 4.5 is the same margin for the division as the WC.
  7. You don’t need to show up a utility guy enjoying his 15 minutes of fame like Yermin on a hot streak. Let it ride until he falls back to earth by himself. With Robert, I wouldn’t have said a thing about injuries. I simply would have said that’s between the two of us and we’re going to keep that discussion private. Of course, everyone could infer the truth, but covering up for him hasn’t taughy him a valuable lesson until we see a marked change in some of his bad habits.
  8. Benched Robert but covered for him in media...so no impact.
  9. Kremer was at least pitching well THIS season. This dude tonight, almost inexplicable.
  10. Notice the manager is putting the team win over getting the starter five innings pitched to qualify individually.
  11. Not so fast, Guardians and Twins trailing. Psychologically, it would be far easier to just move on instead of merely hanging around on the periphery of contention. Other than that one huge comeback and Anderson in NY and Burger, this season has been unbearable.
  12. Spencer Watkins likely to be the Orioles’ starter tmrw, if it even matters who they throw.
  13. We have one of the most famous posters here earlier in the thread wishing/hoping for a four game sweep to see what will happen to LaRussa. Lay off. The only way the stolen bases will stop is when they become an embarrassment to the organization. Why the fuck should we cheer for such incompetency? My Colt League teams didn’t make such fundamental mistakes. Fucking fix that shit. LaRussa is getting paid $3.5 million and 10-15% of this board could and would do a better job for free.
  14. The weird thing is that as bad as his defense and focus have been, his offense completely unaffected.
  15. Baltimore -29 White Sox -47 Slight flinch or glove movement. Ticky tacky, announcers can’t even figure it out. Two more stolen bases coming, at least one. Pitched Mateo like he was JD Martinez or Rafael Devers.
  16. Probably his recent 12-13 game hitting streak and homer #7.
  17. Was that an actual clean double or misplay by Sheets?
  18. Similar situation with David Ortiz in Minnesota. Way back in the day, that's how we ended up with Damaso Marte when the Pirates ran out of options on him and were pretty much forced to trade him.
  19. Atta boy Leary. You "own" that spot in the lineup now, don't you?
  20. But he reached base twice yesterday! What do you realistically expect?
  21. Ligue Family? There's definitely going to be something between Marvin Hudson and TA7 again before the end of this series.
