  1. They were probably right to keep Robert out of this one. That said, can we afford to lose anyone else through playing through these terrible conditions? PItchers can't even control the ball.
  2. More of our patented poor infield defense this year... Sigh. Moncada can't get back fast enough. Healthy Moncada, hopefully. (I'm sure that Benetti and Stone Pony will blame the weather, somehow.)
  3. 56 pitches already through 2 1/3. Minny @ Balt tied 2-2 Bottom 5
  4. Right knee...doesn't seem like he did enough practice over there in an unfamiliar stadium. Kneecap?
  5. Maybe this year's plan is to sneak in with the #3 wild card and play giant killers as pronounced underdogs. Or rely on the Twins being too intimidated to line up with the Yankees in the ALDS brackets. Who the hell knows what they are thinking?
  6. You have to have Robert in there with Vaughn out...have to account for the likelihood we will inevitably do something dumb like let Suzuki beat us, even though he has cooled down recently.
  7. The flying shards would likely cut the pitching hands of Giolito Cease and Kopech. I do remember a player missing significant time due to a broken mirror...not sure if self induced or accidental.
  8. But what are the forward tax consequences??
  9. That outfielder who came over from the Cards (always hurt) hailing from Hahn's suburban high school might actually be more deserving than Asche. Or AJ Reed, perhaps.
  10. Well, Hendriks definitely brought his A game yesterday. We will soon see how consistent he is with that against less high profile teams and hitters.
  11. ESPN apparently not "real fans" of the Sox. Classic case of "lazy analysis" that has them at anything lower than a B/B- with all the adversity TLR has already overcome to get to where he is today with this team.
  12. Except his replacement is playing like he has a 1.5 fWAR ceiling at $5.5 million so not sure that we're much better off. More energy/enthusiasm?
  13. The Mariners won way too many one run games last year. Winker and Suarez do help, but they really needed all their young outfielders to be major contributors in the first half in order to have a fighting chance. Finally, buying Cy Young award winners like Ray at peak value usually doesn’t work out well in the end unless those aforementioned winners are consistently great year after year after year…
  14. Pretty much would have to send Sheets down...which isn't out of the realm of possibility at this point.
  15. Well, combined with the near comeback the game before that even rattled Iglesias...and now going right into another big week with Cubs and then at Fenway, it was quite important. We can also thank Maddon for resting Ohtani and Rendon.
  16. Not with Harrison and Leury on the roster and Moncada back this week.
  17. Robert and Abreu's rates are probably down a bit, too. But almost as big as Grandal's decline is missing Moncada in the lineup for a month in terms of OBP/walks.
  18. How many out there are willing to go on record that they believe so strongly in the White Sox still winning the division that they would bet let's say $50,000 on it? Seems about even odds with the Twins right now, would you agree?
  19. They already have Kopech on the roster, they're not going to pay another $21+ million to add all the variability that comes along with Thor. Right now, they need to be just as concerned with getting to the playoffs as building a WS winning team. At best, they can afford one big add, but it's most certainly not going to be two...especially if revenues are down from somehow missing the playoffs. (Talent is much more likely to come via trades, which is a scary proposition with this current front office.)
  20. Pretty sure Linebrink too. MacDougal. Did Emilio Bonifacio have a guaranteed deal? Paulino or Holland? Some other names that come to mind...
