  1. It doesn't always work in the post-season, see TB and Milwaukee to a lesser extent the last 3-4 seasons. Obviously, the Rays also got to the WS last year, as well.
  2. If you do give Rodon a QO and he accepts it, there goes your FA budget, except for minor moves like Tepera and scrap heap/bargain basement guys again. Even worse, getting stuck with Kimbrel.
  3. Lol. I’m sure this would be the perspective of anyone under 40. For those over 50 or 55, particularly in a world economy where you’re growing increasingly obsolete in that age range…I’m sure it is a bit more sensitive. (Heck, 61% of Americans at 55 or older no longer participate in the labor force, for a multitude of reasons. Which strikes me as a somewhat shockingly high number, as an aside, and ominous for SS’s future.)
  4. Hate to go all Ron, but if there was a poll question….are you satisfied with how Kopech and Crochet have been groomed by the coaching staff or developed or whatever phrase you care to apply, I’d imagine it would be pretty lopsided. It’s a legitimate question why Kopech didn’t get a few more starts to work on his full repertoire and build innings for next year over the last six weeks when they were just treading water. Granted, right now he’s barely a two pitch pitcher. Maybe it’s more frustration we didn’t contest HFA until it was too late to recover. Crochet is more understandably an evolving work in progress with limited experience and will be babied more.
  5. Clearly Gammons prefers the Astros’ organization or has better relationships/sources over there…or has some sort of Keith Law-ish grudge. Guess it’s natural as we are the WRONG Sox in his world where everything that matters in Carmine Red, Not seeing any connection to age here, but more a stubborn allegiance to defending them for god knows what reason.
  6. Nah, I have to stick around here until you’re elevated to Global Moderator status, first.
  7. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/e0abde3003a88dedecad92fedc96375000c16843287a51dbf2cd92f062217180 Looking worse weather-wise, with rain coming on as early as 1 p.m.
  8. AL Central in postseason since 2017 2-0 Indians over Yankees 0-14 1-0 Sox over A’s 0-4 Sox lose four consecutive 1-0 Game 3 4-18
  9. https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/33860/reynaldo-lopez Lopez has actually done fairly well against the Astros…11/36 is over .300 and not .242 as ESPN has here but no xbh and only 3 runs with 5 walks and 6 k’s.
  10. Who would you have started instead? Lopez was already in the rotation…Kopech or Lambert? I guess one of the offseason discussion points will be about the mismanagement of both Kopech and Crochet, but guess we’ll just have to wait and see how next season unfolds.
  11. Just wonder how much pain the slider’s causing at this point…if he has to go away from the FB heavy repertoire.
  12. Skipped work today…but this one will be at 3:37 a.m. or likely rained out. Need an early pre-emptive nap in the late afternoon or this evening. Three long nights out of four counting Sox Game 2, OU/Iowa then tonight again.
  13. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/e0abde3003a88dedecad92fedc96375000c16843287a51dbf2cd92f062217180 75% or higher starting at 4 p.m. That might be the best scenario if Rodon can go a quick 2-3 before any prolonged delay…then another elongated bullpen battle.
  14. How well has Tepera done this year in back to back or multiple inning appearances?
  15. Tepera will go down as the best trade acquisition of the three. Wonder how much it would take to resign him? And getting everyone riled up for Game 4 might help, but Game 5 will be a totally different beast. At least the mantra next year will be HFA, HFA, HFA…
  16. Bulldogs seem to be the theme…and a picture of a Lab named Sosa might be a reverse jinx so not posting.
  17. How many HoF relievers have been demoted from their roles with a better save conversion rate than the closer on the team they’re joining…and sported a 0.52 ERA? Wouldn’t it have been more logical to use Hendriks in high leverage for a half season, knowing he was already perfectly comfortable to that role in the past? If the argument back is that it would screw with Liam mentally this year and into the future of his contract…then couldn’t one make the same argument that he could have more easily made the necessary mental adjustments?
  18. Overwhelming is like 75-25, 80-20 or 90-10...and someone could vote more than once if they really wanted to game the system.
  19. Ron at least has a promising political career with that attitude...
  20. Remember when we had Avi, Leury and Willy Garcia all in the same outfield...the Tres Garcias game of April, 2017? Bite it, Alex Rios!
  21. AL Central in postseason since Indians went up 2-0 on the Yankees in 2017…only to lose three straight=0-16 Chicago White Sox=2-4 And just think of all the extra revenue from another post-season game we can spend on Corey Seager, haha. PS: Also hope the poster disappointed with 5-1 deficit stayed in the park for that one. Leaving early would be like missing the Robin Ventura walkoff back in 1991.
  22. Grandal and Leury will be remembered forever in Sox lore if they can dig out of this hole. Just hope that Rodon doesn’t hurt himself tomorrow night trying to do much and reaching back for some extra velocity…
