Now we can get revenge for SoxFest being a relative love-in compared to how the rest of the year’s media relations with Sox fanbase is going to go...thank all the stars in heaven Chris Rongey is no longer around, or he would surely blow up at one of his callers before the All Star Break. By the way, February 25th (next Monday) and March 6th (split squad) we get the Machado and Tatis Jr. Show In Spring Training...that oughta be awkward.

Come out to a game, where it’s more likely to catch an STD from the Bunny Ranch than a Sox corner outfielder to corral a flyball...

Maybe they should start clawing back all those sweetheart subsidies the Stadium Authority and Jim Thompson gave to the White Sox in the late 80’s...

“I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling kids.” Every Scooby Doo episode/Jed Hoyer PS: Fly the Friars’ Mustard Yellow and Brown Flag Proudly! Long live Tony Gwynn!

Can’t he just take it out on everyone as a politician instead of ruining our favorite team? WHY? WHY? WHY? You’re killing us, Jerry!!! Can someone please ask Phil Rogers why it would make any logical sense for a baseball team to declare themselves out? To save the hurt and pain of another miss to their suffering fanbase? Nah, that couldn’t possibly be it.

Does JR have an ownership share in the Phillies that we don’t know about?

Apparently, it’s sound business practice to drive down the price of talent for other teams who will competing with you for the World Series in the future. Never mind. We’re totally irrelevant, might as well not even anyone will pretend to take our bidding seriously.

Anyone waiting for the John Candy GIF...”park’s closed folks...”

White Sox resign Andy the Clown, kids around Chicagoland scream out in horror. In all seriousness, they might as well have a guy like we had in the Quad Cities who runs around and takes foul balls away before the kids can get them...he was the most hated “character” in the park, The Roadrunner everyone called him. More fast pitch competitions in the dead of winter, that would still be won by Shingo Takatsu’s frisbee slurve...that might help serve as collective therapy.

Watch Harper and Boras have to sign for under $300 million now...with the Sox and Nats refusing to bid up his price. F#$& it, I hope it’s the Indians or Twins that signs him, because this front office needs to be kicked in the face about a dozen to realize the decimation they’re wreaking on the remaining members of the fanbase. (But at least we have stale ass Benetti jokes to look forward to for the next decade...that oughta take the edge off.)

Fan of Faust is assembling the viable elements of a multi-party ownership group as we speak...

This franchise, even if they are/were almost intentionally trying to sabotage it or run it into the ground...is still worth $2-2.4 billion, especially with the media market’s theoretical potential. Let’s not forget the still being sorted out factor of legalized sports betting around the country.

It’s back to 2008 all over again...fighting against windmills without Quentin. Even if they or the Twins somehow do manage to sneak into the playoffs in future years, those super teams in NY, Boston, Houston and eventually LA will just rise up and wipe them out like the mega cities in Mortal Engines. It’s the exact same situation the Indians are facing now, pretty much, except they at least have two superstars and a DEEP starting rotation if they decide to hold onto Kluber and Bauer all season long. -

At the very best, Hahn has been in the Bottom 20%, and that’s being charitable. As it stands now, the only thing keeping an abyss from opening to swallow the franchise whole is Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease. It’s heartbreaking, because they could have had Nola, one pick away from a certain stud Boston LF, Tatis Jr. and Machado. Might as well throw in Urias there as well. But the MLBPA should be happy we picked up a slew of crappy veterans at above the going rate...that was one of their biggest concerns, those players getting squeezed or left without any legit suitors. -

Just forget about Arenado...no way in HELL he comes here. Why would any great free agent trust the White Sox and not get an opt out to protect themselves in a long term contract of 6-10 years? It just defies belief that any agent would box their client in like that for an organization that will never be the highest bidder. -
It’s not exactly fair to youngsters Jimenez and Cease (because they didn’t do anything wrong but get traded to the Sox), but hopefully this can function as a motivating factor like rallying against the owners or GM did in the movie “Major League”... you know they’re all going to have even bigger chips on their shoulders to prove the doubters and naysayers wrong. Madrigal has faced the doubters his entire life, pretty much.

Can someone call the ticket office and see how many complaints or threats to cancel they received today? Especially all those fans who bought tickets on the potential/implied promise of them adding Machado in the last couple of months... And have either Jay or Alonso dared to come out and talk to the media today?
-
2009 or maybe 2011...especially after the Dunn signing. From an 892 to abysmal 569 ops in one year...Engle could probably put up those numbers, even.
-
No way. Egos are too big. Live in a state of suspended denial...like KW’s purported shock their supposedly more generous offer that was $70 million and a 5 year option short could possibly be turned down.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for future generations if we preserved the love of the game in young kids and their families through higher attendance at minor league games...at a certain point, the MLB won't be affordable to anyone but the Top 20%.

Robert at 93 IS BAT-SHIT CRAZY.
-
It's basically the debuts of Jimenez/Cease, monitoring Robert and Madrigal at the minor league level...waiting for the #3 draft pick, and hoping that Yoan Moncada can figure things out. I guess the final component would be watching Rodon/Lopez/Giolito...but my enthusiasm level UNTIL they bring up Jimenez is pretty much about ZERO, and that's with Lindor's injury.

MIRED IN MEDIOCRITY Unfortunately, we're not even anywhere close to the mediocrity at this point...we'd have to be at least at 75 wins.
-
If we had $1 for every "Goodbye Soxtalk" farewell/bon voyage speech, we'd have already accumulated enough money to pay Manny Machado $320-325 million. "I WISH I KNEW HOW TO QUIT YOU!"

CWS, I never thought YOU would be the one who had to be talked down from off the ledge. Better to take a week or two and get your mind completely away from the game of baseball and approach it from a fresh perspective. Sometimes, one loses the forest for the trees when we get so wrapped up in something happening, or, in this case, not happening...even when we've been waiting with expectation for seemingly half a year, if not longer. If you've been a White Sox fan since the late 1970's, you'll realize it's never THAT dark as it first appears...and how many times do we look back on these megacontracts as little as 2-3 years later and say "wow, we REALLY dodged a bullet there!!!"
