There is no hope for the Chicago White Sox (the thread?)
Did you just watch Armageddon, Deep Impact or 2012, lol? They have at least five potential elite talents, STILL. 1) Jimenez 2) Moncada 3) Cease 4) Kopech 5) Robert And Madrigal's going to be the closest thing we've had to Nellie Fox since the 1960's...

2019 fan engagement poll
Another excellent idea is supporting all of our minor league teams/players/coaches...especially if you live in North/South Carolina or Alabama. They didn't do anything wrong, they're just caught in the crossfire.

2019 fan engagement poll
Donating seats (at least some of them) to Sox Charities, Boys & Girls Clubs, Jackie Robinson Little League, Bulls/Sox Academy, Reviving Baseball in the Inner City program, there was a Chicago version of that....ACE, maybe? The one that kid who went to Iowa and the Sox drafted participated in...he was a catcher/pitcher out of the Public League before Iowa.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
You must have missed the 2-3 month period where the "White Sox were going to eviscerate/spit out every single opponent for a half decade" period of his posting. Balta...when exactly was that, what specifically triggered the positive change, and then turned you back to the "dark side"?

Send him to Idaho, that'll teach 'im. About the closest to exile is Great Falls in the Pioneer League, that managing gig for mid June/July/August.

If I tried to organize it from here in China, I'd probably get caught up in some corrupt foreign powers/influence act...lol...the White Sox would just blame "Communist agitators" for trying to stir up trouble. Maybe I can just collect monies from all the kids wearing Sox hats that don't even have a clue it's an American baseball team (they have many MLB shoppes in the malls here, selling almost all NY Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and Cubs stuff, 85-90% NYY...but lots of pirated/fake/knockoff hats.)

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Imagines what conceivable track Southsider2k5 is going to take about "blaming Sox fans" after KW's latest PR gaffe. Commenting now is like putting yourself in the eye of the perfect storm, at least half of it "self~induced" by the Sox to use a classic Hawkism. PS Benetti is going to be crucified this year...no matter what approach he takes with the humor.

He was actually the biggest Sox cheerleader in the world heading into 2018.

How about the entire PR and marketing department for not stopping him? By defending JR like a mafia don's henchman, you just lit your own loyal fanbase/customers on fire and asked them to enjoy the privilege of being betrayed yet again. Some organization! As Fathom said, maybe the single worst aspect of the last 10+ days and counting. I wish they could unearth an internal document proving they had no intention of signing either player, that it was just a subterfuge or ploy to hawk season tickets to gullible fans who actually believed in their front office again, despite all the setbacks starting last year with Burger in spring training and culminating in the Kopech TJS.

Why you should not want Reinsdorf to sell the SOX
Sadly, you probably put more work into this post than those 3 Idiots have invested into the Sox pursuit of Harper since January 1st.

It will inevitably be rescued by a community mental health block grant...as a public service to avoid more long-term psychological impacts from being born a White Sox fan. (Except now it feels more like the Patty Hearst kidnapping as a fan.)

Who hacked your account? Russians? Phillies' fans?

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Maybe they can just fold the White Sox/Tigers/Royals all together into one franchise that splits the season into 27 home games in each of those three cities. Remember in 2000-01 when MLB was seriously considering pushing the Twins to fold up...well, we're not that far away if this rebuilding effort falls flat.

2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread
At least the AL Central isn't getting stronger and stronger...

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
The odds here are about the same in terms of getting rid of JR/KW/Hahn. The only Supreme Court justice to be impeached by the House of Representatives was Samuel Chase in 1804. He was accused of allowing his political bias to influence his decision on the high court. The final straw came in 1803, when he chastised a U.S. circuit court in Maryland. He gave a grand jury charge after the court granted universal male suffrage. Chase also condemned the court for repealing the Judiciary Act of 1801. The House voted to impeach Chase in March of 1804. During his trial before the Senate in 1805, Chase argued that he could only be removed from the bench for an indictable offense, not for judgement errors or behavior. The Senate agreed and he was exonerated.

Narvaez was well over 2, and Avi was in 2018. Odds are the "Sox exiles" are more like the lions than the Christians in Rome.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
I really don't think you have enough energy to sustain that storyline for another 12 months...even then, the responses will be, Bumgarner's arm/shoulder/elbow will fall off (another Peavy or Danks, basically) and Goldschmidt will suddenly lose his bat speed converting to the AL and turn into Adam Dunn Version 2.0.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Watch the Phillies double down and bring in Trout after 2020...they REALLY have a future to be excited about now, going into that off-season as at least a 50/50 shot at him, with the Yankees and Angels being two other logical landing points.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
So basically, something they haven't managed to accomplish since the 2004-2005 seasons...or at the very least, Danks/Floyd/Alexei/Ramirez/Dotel/Linebrink in 2007/08. Gotta love the odds there. (No, Robertson/Cabrera/LaRoche/Beckham/Bonifacio and whatever veteran garbage catcher we probably added doesn't count.)

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Sure, if you can manage to acquire a 51% management stake by buying out other owners...probably need somewhere in the vicinity of $800 million, maybe $900 million....although the way things are going since last Tuesday, they might have to settle for $700-750 million and be happy. At least the executives with the Cubs' Network can enjoy a sigh of relief and know there will be no pressure on their subscription prices coming from the Sox...they'll be the only game in town for at least the next two years, if not three. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/bryce-harpers-deal-phillies-made-internet-lose-mind-215416918.html At least the Philly fanbase can go nuts...and the Nationals' fanbase, booing him. That makes for really exciting races in the NL East, NL Central, AL East and eventually the NL West when the Padres' prospects all start to hit the big leagues (not to mention the Rockies just extended Arenado). ESPN will be elated with both the AL East and NL East being powerhouse divisions with lots of compelling storylines.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
If we approach it like Hahn and JR, then we should be able to get the Sox for a bargain price...since they've pretty much destroyed their remaining fanbase, t.v. and radio ratings, ticket sales, etc. Distressed assets...that's a specialty of Warren Buffett and Berkshire-Hathaway. And, on the plus side, they've got a very clean balance sheet from 2020 onwards....especially after they dump Abreu on someone.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Send Alita: Battle Angel after him...the "Hunter/Warriors" Somehow it's more fun to be joking about this than threatening someone that gets the Secret Service out doing an investigation, but hopefully the rhetoric will cool down in a minute. That said, if KW had to get personal bodyguards after all this...and it came out in the media...it would ALMOST be worth it. But we're supposed to be better than that as a fanbase, right? Or did JW and KW lose that right/privilege with their actions/non-actions in the last 2-3 weeks???

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Or if we finish in 4th or 5th place in 2019/20, he really needs to go to Toronto. Of course, they probably wouldn't take him anymore and that would be a bit of a prize, all things considered.

And the aging curves for ballplayers in the non-steroid era? KW must believe he's still in 1998 and McGwire/Sosa are batting it out for the home run title in the late days of August.

KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
Countdown until Rick Renteria is fired, a second time by a Chicago team... What would be especially hilarious would be if Vizquel or McEwing or Justin Jirschele refused to take over in-season, but that of course means we'd be stuck with irascible Don Cooper, which would mean even more fanbase insults. Steverson getting fired will just make everyone laugh collectively.
