  1. Sounds like a familiar rock ballad...
  2. Weak or strong, regardless, we’re not going to attract anyone of premier ability unless the creaking rebuild actually gets going in a positive direction after stalling out.
  3. Did you figure into this how much worse Castellanos’ numbers look without feasting on White Sox pitching? I’m dying on Puig Hill, of course. Others will pick Ozuna, probably. The final group will assert we already have five decent prospects for RF, why bother spending $14-18 million per season for a slight upgrade over their expected level of production?
  4. Yay, more Adam Engel bunt ground outs...and poor Jose Rondon buried forever on the bench behind Yolmer and Leury. So much for the Jordan Stephens for Fifth Starter campaign. We hardly knew ye.
  5. Next year...it will arguably be only Sale, Cole and maybe Verlander (who wouldn’t go to a rebuilding team for even $40 million on a one year deal) that are the whales. Should be fun talking about all the reasons he wouldn’t come back, how another player (like Fisk) who spent less time with Boston goes into the HoF with a Red Sox cap, Jersey Gate, Drake Gate...and how soon after signing before he completely breaks down physically.
  6. Considering we can’t be very sure at all of getting even 2 fWAR seasons (his average the last three) out of Gonzalez, Basabe, Adolfo, Rutherford or Walker... I’d call it 50/50 odds one of those guys hits that number. Two out of five would be an amazing rate of success for the White Sox. Plus, we still need a DH, too. Since we’re probably going to bury Palka on the bench behind Alonso and Jay. Fun times.
  7. The only place Hahn has a true comfort level is smoking Cuban cigars in the executive suites with KW and JR.
  8. But it wasn’t 20%, we were actually much closer. Only 16.66% off. Going down $50 mill when starting at $300 gives you a better idea of how close the White Sox actually we’re, using the team-friendlier, fancier Rick Hahn Economics 101 calculations. Just kidding. That’s all I got.
  9. Tatis in only 1 for 2 with a walk...and doubled instead of homered. That’s the only good news so far today.
  10. Or Eduardo Escobar for Liriano. Or Andy Gonzalez for, errr, never mind.
  11. Anyone lining up to buy the the new MLB The Show 2019 with Harper sporting a Phillies’ cap? https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/mlb-the-show-19-ps4/?emcid=se-pi-184216&utm_medium=Search&utm_campaign=20190129__search&utm_source=&utm_term=se-pi-184216&utm_content=#editions Available 3/26
  12. Can we rename thread...”disengagement poll,” lol?
  13. Moncada just got down 0-2 in the count against a lefty and actually took a nice controlled swing and ripped one up the middle, almost killed Elias, who threw him out relatively easily after recovering from the shock.
  14. Sox fans have nothing but time...taxes, then eventual/inevitable deaths without another World Series.
  15. It’s not like Devers instead of Moncada would have worked out great, either. He’s pretty one dimensional. Red Sox definitely knew what they had in Benintendi though, getting him was never going to happen. Should have just taken him straight up, the way things look to be working out with that particular trade.
  16. Well, I know that I have never once said he was good at his job. You won’t find it in 50,000+ posts.
  17. Down to #4 at MLB Pipeline, before the Basabe, Dunning and Hansen injuries...Dunning was #6.
  18. Billy Beane still competes every 3-4 years in Oakland, too. Best team in baseball coming down the stretch in 2014. Biggest surprise last year. Worst stadium in baseball, other than TB, arguably. I think we need to start a GoFundMe to raise money for a new GM....all the money that was going to go to tickets/parking/concessions. Im not going to cancel my Mlb.tv package, but my only purchase this season will be SFG tickets. No money goes to the Bozo Show Clown Car led by KW and Hahn.
  19. Narvaez, Avi and Davidson will undoubtedly put up better fWAR numbers collectively...
  20. And this is exactly where/how Preller has beaten Hahn twice (especially convincing a cash-strapped organization and ownership group to dig DEEP into their pockets, so it wasn’t just Fowler he had to get on board)...no matter what arguments you make about how good or bad Preller is, those two players are totally turning the fortunes of two organizations in completely opposite directions. Wouldn't even be surprised about all the stories surrounding Harper not caring much for Kapler at all.
  21. Well, last year he looked decent...throwing 93-95+ and then lost his velocity the first 2-3 months in Chicago.
  22. Mariners’ guys had him at 93 as well. Same as last year. Control issues. Terrible defense behind him. Two Moncada K’s. Narvaez gets his first hit against us.
  23. Except the Dodgers were always one of his top 2-3 choices. Maybe they also know something more about Kershaw’s injury? At any rate, SD was never even on Manny’s radar before the $175 million lowball offer came out publicly.
  24. By a factor of at least 4X.
  25. And the Dodgers would be simply elated to give him a 3 or even 2 year opt out...but likely 3.
