  2. Was about to have a heart attack thinking Kopech got roughed up like that. Oops, didn't notice that game was already over with the DH. Apparently it wasn't as bad as the numbers looked, with some defensive miscues contributing. Still some control issues. And for those saying we should have a Top 3-5 system ranking, it's hard to believe we're Top 10 with how ridiculously bad that Birmingham everyday line-up is.
  3. The "left wing" media has apologized twice now for "lies" or misleading pictures/articles. (Obviously, to say there was an "intention" to lie here about the Patriots' attendance at the WH is a bit much, as there CERTAINLY were fewer players, which are pretty much the MAIN thing that the majority of people care about, as opposed to political stances of equipment men and towel boys.) One was the MLK Bust (supposedly being removed when it was just in a different location in the Oval) and now this. When, if ever, has the right wing media ever apologized, clarified or retracted a story in the last 18-24 months? And how, for example, can Jeff Sessions impartially serve as Attorney General when he clearly believes that Hawaiian islanders are somehow lesser Americans? It would probably shock him to learn that the average net worth of those living in Hawaii is probably double or triple that of the average Alabaman.

  5. Chris Sale ERA at 1.01 and falling unless he was just jinxed...since no longer on ST banner, should be okay.
  6. The AHCA had 17% approval numbers...before it was gutted. ObamaCare ranged in the mid 40's. No way they have a public vote that ends in another Trump repudiation.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) You werent aware that its lying to post pictures? Here we go again, just like Inauguration Day...and the parks service photo comparisons. The greatest number of Super Bowl heroes to ever appear together in the White House. And Brady's quite fortunate he had cover for his absence. https://www.yahoo.com/celebrity/gisele-bund...-153928312.html Gisele's climate change politics and not Aaron Hernandez likely the reason for Brady ditching WH appearance
  8. What is the lie again? All the media outlets already had the full list of players not seen in any of the photos 24 hours ago. Reports covered all the no name players who were mentioned specifically by Trump, the Amendola "mistake" and the rewriting of what actuallly happened in the game based on who was actually there in attendance to receive praise.
  9. http://finance.yahoo.com/video/united-must...-194727547.html United stock far from out of the woods yet...those buying on the dip got another big scare Tuesday.
  10. http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/20/asia/south-k...nson/index.html Mockery and anger from South Koreans over Vinson "bluffing" by Trump admin "I understand strategic ambiguity for military authorities. However, it's different (for a) political leader," Yang Moo-jin, of the University of North Korean Studies, told CNN. "Trump, (Vice President Mike) Pence and (Secretary of Defense James) Mattis all used this to raise tension and pressure North Korea. Strong nations' power comes from transparency, not the opposite. "How does the US expect South Koreans to trust the US when its leader bluffs and exaggerates? South Koreans' feelings were hurt considerably by remarks by the leader of a close ally." And as the country prepares to vote for a new president on May 9, the claim could have far-reaching implications for the two countries' relations. "What Mr. Trump said was very important for the national security of South Korea," Presidential candidate Hong Joon-pyo told the Wall Street Journal. "If that was a lie, then during Trump's term, South Korea will not trust whatever Trump says," said Hong, who is currently trailing in the polls.
  11. Victims of neo-Nazi trolling in Whitefish, Mont., strike back in court (against Richard Spencer's mother) the https://www.yahoo.com/news/victims-neo-nazi...-200303427.html Though Anglin himself never engaged directly with Gersh, the SPLC argues that he is responsible for the 700-plus harassing emails, tweets, Facebook posts, voicemails and other threatening messages received by Gersh, her husband, and even her 12-year-old son, causing them to fear for their lives. The complaint accuses Anglin of various torts, including intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy. “We didn’t know if they would come after us … [we] still don’t,” Gersh told reporters Tuesday, choking back tears as she described the barrage of threats she and her family have received, including countless references to the Holocaust and gas chambers. “Once I answered the phone and all I heard were gunshots,” she said. “I have never been so scared in my entire life.” The troll storm may have subsided slightly, but the impact on Gersh and her family continues. Search “Tanya Gersh” in Google images and the first result is a photoshopped picture of Gersh with a yellow star of David on her forehead and the words “Filthy Juden” written in big bold letters across the bottom. Gersh said the threats have forced her to stop working as a real estate agent for fear of putting her clients at risk. She now goes to trauma therapy twice a week and is experiencing anxiety-induced medical issues. “Most importantly, I’m never feeling safe,” she said. “This went so far beyond harassment, this was terrorism.”
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Tigers 8-6, everyone else 7-7 You mean we're still in it?
  13. El Rockin's obligatory positive comment of the night, haha. The Covey Experiment hit a fork in the road, albeit not unexpected.
  14. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/just-got...-161647845.html Further signs emerging that the US intelligence committee believes in the validity of the Trump "dossier"
  15. At least Giolito's K numbers were good until he fell apart in the 6th. And yeah, that Birmingham line-up is painful to look at. The only one hitting is Rondon, and NOBODY expects him to be much more than a Leury Garcia-ish 25th man/defensive specialist were he ever to make it to the majors.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Based on what? Aaron Judge's HR tonight? Their lineup is full of veterans. Sanchez. The kid who pitched last night. Their minor league system. Etc. Actually, it's crazy how young Castro is, he came up so long ago, seems like he should be in his early to mid 30's.
  17. Well, it was a hanging slider at 83 mph...wouldn't read much into it, unless it was a 95+ mph fastball on the inside 1/3rd of the plate.
  18. Arguably the 3 most important mistakes of the Trump presidency have all taken place when Jared and Ivanka were unavailable. No pattern or trend to see there at all, when literally hundreds of articles have been written on this topic by the mainstream press. Puts tinfoil hat on and throws out every conservative conspiracy ever without researching the validity of any of them. 10-15% of them, maybe, stick.
  19. QUOTE (turnin' two @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 08:52 PM) Cole, Watson,Freese, Harrison... Cole is a free agent in 2020. A complete teardown still makes little sense for the Pirates.
  20. Where did the 6'2" measurement for Moncada come from? He always looks closer to 5'10" or 5'11".
  21. If Jeffrey Luhnow has suddenly become the MLB marketing and recruiting equivalent of Bill Self or John Calipari, I'll eat my eat. They do have an exciting young team, and Gurriel already there (if they have a relationship of any kind)...but the quickest path to even more money in the major leagues lies with the White Sox.
  22. But what if insights from game theory -- and, particularly, the greater potential for high collective payouts from credible collaborative collusion -- were to inform passengers’ reactions? They would consider ways to enrich themselves at the expense of the airline. Here’s an example: Once the airline calls for volunteers, those willing to respond would form a consultative group that would assign one passenger to miss the flight and then agree to collectively hold out until the airlines approaches its new $10,000 maximum. At that point, the one passenger would volunteer, collect the compensation, keep a good portion of it, and make smaller side payments to the other members of the group. Of course, this is by no means a foolproof approach. Effective collusion and steadfast commitment are tricky for a plane full of strangers, especially when passengers arrive at the gate at different times and, after the flight, are unlikely to interact with their fellow travelers in future. The incentive for any one passenger to refuse to be a member of the group, or break away from it, is considerable -- especially because there are no easy group discipline enforcement mechanisms. To add to the challenges of forming effective coalitions, the airline compensation is likely to come in the form of travel credits rather than cash, making the side payments complicated and hard to secure. There is also the problem of non-genuine participation by passengers who have no real desire to volunteer, but see this as an opportunity for a potentially risk-free payout. Even if passengers were to overcome all these problems, such game theoretics are unlikely to allow for a “repeated game,” in which passengers repetitively benefit at the expense of the airline. After all, it wouldn’t take the airline long to realize that its highest net present value approach is now to lower its contingent exposure by reducing the overbooking practices. 23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 11:09 PM) Whoa, American current events are different in China. Still doesn't change the fact that 3 of the 4 biggest events of the Trump presidency happened while she was gone/unavailable. Immigration ban/announcement, AHCA non-vote, and his Saturday morning Obama wiretapping allegation tweet which has led to the Russia investigation. You can argue for the Syria (symbolic) attack and Gorsuch nomination/press conference. One of those is probably #4.

  25. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 10:46 PM) Avi must relish proving his keyboard critics wrong. That bomb he hit today was 429 feet, I believe - a game winning towering blast against a great pitcher in Yankee stadium. Great pitcher??? It's not like we were facing Mussina or Andy Pettitte in their heyday.
