http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-...#nt=oft02a-1la1 Current front page story at the Tribune (United can sue their Pr firm now, too) Videos of a United Airlines passenger being forcibly dragged from his seat to make room for airline crew members on a Sunday overbooked flight at O'Hare International Airport have been viewed more than 1 million times, and the airline's CEO on Monday called the incident "an upsetting event to all of us here at United." "I apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers. Our team is moving with a sense of urgency to work with the authorities and conduct our own detailed review of what happened," United CEO Oscar Munoz said in a statement Monday. Munoz said the airline is trying to reach the passenger to "further address and resolve this situation." .... Hobart said United tries to come up with a reasonable compensation offer, but "there comes a point where you're not going to get volunteers." At that point, United's contract of carriage says the airline can select passengers to bump to a later flight, based on a priority system that can take into account how much passengers paid, how often they fly, whether missing that flight could affect a connecting flight and how early they checked in. People with disabilities and unaccompanied minors are generally last to be bumped (anyone over 60 or 65 is not also on the priority list? My comment). Usually, passengers — however angry — comply with the airline's orders. But even if it's an unusual situation, it raises questions about what rights passengers have when being removed from a flight against their will, Harteveldt said. So another point about the lawsuit is not following their own procedure to instead randomly select...which will probably be proven over time to be untrue as well since they would never randomly select anyone in a section other than coach/economy class to kick off.

And it's bringing out even more and more complaints about United from everyone they've screwed...Willits Tower protests against UAL corporate hq, coming soon. Greg, these stories are proof America is worse than ever after Trump was elected!!! We were on United from Hartford to Tucson with a stop in Denver on 12/17/16. There was a storm that messed up travel across US that day. We knew to leave for the airport early because of weather. Seems the flight crew didn't have that common sense. They arrived late for the flight so we sat on the plane as they fueled and de-iced and were late taking off. I don't know if that would have made much of a difference as by the time we were fueled, there was a ground hold in Denver. We sat on the plane for three hours waiting to take off. we had to be de-iced a second time. We finally landed in Denver and sat on the tarmac for another 1 1/2 hours waiting for an open gate. Of course, we missed our connecting flight to Tucson. We should have arrived in Tucson at 1:15pm on 12/17. United re-booked our connecting flight for 10:15 on 12/17, arriving in Tucson around midnight 12/18. We had scattered seats throughout the plane. There were two earlier flights at 4:00 and 6:30 and together but they were "premium seats". As i had booked and paid for "premium seats" on the flight we missed, I think I should have been allowed seats on these flights. I was told to go to customer service by a gate attendant. Customer service line was, no exaggeration, 400 people long with two people at the desk! I booked online and AGAIN paid for premium seats on the 6:30 flight. I tried to call United Airlines while we waited to see if I could be refunded the $160 that I PAID AGAIN for "premium seats" and was on hold for 1 1/2 hours until we stood in line to board our flight. We waited in line until 9:30pm to be finally told this flight was canceled. The temperature in Denver was -16 and just about every airlines was affected. We NOW had to wait in line at the dreaded customer service to book flights out of Denver to Tucson. We waited in line until 12:30am 12/18/16 when we FINALLY got our turn at the desk to be told there was one seat out on the 11:15 flight on12/18/16 and after that the best UA could do was place us on stand-by for 12/21/16. No offer of compensation FOR ANYTHING. Acoording to United Airlines, we were airport orphans for the next three days. They did give us a cute "amenities bag" of toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant toilette, a comb, mouthwash and laundry detergent. I guess we could wash the clothes we had on and sit naked in the airport until they dried. I was able to book seats on American Airlines for 5:30am on 12/18/16 using my frequent flier miles plus an additional $320 in fees to Tucson with a stop in Dallas from Denver. American Airlines was experiencing the same weather conditions as United Airlines but they had seats for a flight 4 hours later while United Airlines, the airlines that I was originally flying, couldn't get us flights until 3 DAYS LATER and that was stand-by only. No apologies from UA, NO OFFER OF EVEN A MEAL! We wandered Denver airport looking for food. We found out that airports have to have one restaurant open at night and that restaurant was in another terminal, McDonald's. And the line was over an hour wait with one poor employee serving all those stranded customers. She deserved a medal! LONG STORY SHORT- after that experience and treatment, lack of consideration, total lack of coordination by United Airlines, I WAS NEVER flying United Airlines again. After the incident with the girls in leggings at DENVER, I was certain to never fly UA. After this latest incident, of causing injury and forcefully removing a paying customer, I will make sure EVERYONE I know NEVER FLIES UNITED AIRLINES. Forget the doctor part. We're having enough problems in our country when we pick on seniors and that's not exactly the right image we want to send to anyone from a foreign country, either. It's 4:21 a.m. in China, and I know when everyone sees this on Chinese social media, United will have hundreds of millions pissed off if they find out he's Chinese or Singaporean. They don't mess around. Just look at what they're doing to Lotte Department stores (most famous Korean Departmen Store/Real Estate company) when they sold the land to the ROK government to install the THAAD missile system. Maybe he's Korean or Japanese, but we'll find out soon enough when this goes out around the world. https://www.yahoo.com/news/united-passenger...-134930951.html There are already 14,000+ negative reactions just to this article, multiply that by a factor of 8-10x. If you look closely in the second video, his left leg is trapped under the FOLDING arm rest. Instead of the idiot US Marshal lifting the arm rest first, he tugs the gentleman, while screaming as hard as he can until an audible snap can be heard. I am almost certain this man was screaming the way he was, then went instantly silent afterwords because his Femur has been broken, or dislocated. This is #$%$ disgusting, and it doesn't matter who you are, where you are from, EVERYONE DESERVES TO BE TREATED LIKE A PERSON

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Great post. But my take is basically in response to the criminals/crazies who might want to prey on people by saying simply, "I identify as a female" and go into the women's room. Heaven forbid, in the not so distant history of my own Catholic religion, we have people who chose professions just to be close to kids so they could prey on them. I've heard the saying a million times that life isn't fair. If you have male private parts shouldn't you have to go to the men's room? Why are we discriminating here the other way or at least be escorted in there? What if it's my lifelong goal to prey on kids. Wouldn't this be another way to do so if you had a sick mind?? a.) I'm surprised nobody agrees with me. I just feel like it's not too much to ask people to use the bathroom of their genetic makeup. Maybe we need to just simply change the bathroom setup across America and allow only one person in at a time to make sure we don't step on anybody's rights. Inconvenience, yes, but this is kind of a non sequitir allowing people with male parts into female bathrooms. Makes little sense. 2.) Yes when walking into the Subway at the same time as the cross dresser with high heels and a dress I made that decision to not eat there that night. I hadn't walked in yet. I wouldn't be rude enough to leave if I had already been in there like the other time. I know it can be painful for a person with male private parts who identifies as a female. I heard from Bruce Jenner and have read the suicide rate is very high. Of course I feel badly about that. If it saves lives then I'm all for changing the bathrooms and having just one person go in at a time. Anybody experiencing mental anguish deserves relief that is for sure. But we also have to keep those who prey on kids at bay. Why not do what I suggest? We must have a system now in which one person at a time and only one are allowed in bathrooms to make sure we satisfy everybody's rights here. What about a coach of the girls' hs volleyball team being a lesbian, the wrestling or football coach a pedophile or gay man? How can you protect them then? Isn't it much more likely something might happen in a shared shower than a public bathroom? Do we have any examples of all these bathroom assaults going on to point to? What about changing rooms in clothing stores (the ones not yet wiped out by Amazon.com)? Couldn't they be just as alluring for attackers?

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) Worrying about Giolito is totally warranted but Fulmer was throwing 90-91 last night and Lopez 92-93 on Thursday according to that Charlotte gun. The logical explanation is the gun is 2-3 mph slow. That would put Fulmer at 92-94, Lopez at 94-96 and Giolito at 91-93, roughly. Fulmer pretty consistently threw 92-93 last year in the big leagues. Kopech video http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=milb http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=t494 Moncada's first homer

Dunning will move fast...typically, staying through the league's All-Star game in June and then they'll push him up and maybe he ends in Winston-Salem or even Birmingham depending on which team's in the playoffs in early Sept. They're certainly in no rush, as they already have Kopech, Fulmer, Giolito and Adams ahead of him. Moncada actually has the lowest OPS of those 2-6 hitters at Charlotte. 1. W.Garcia 1.480 2. Hayes/Delmonico 1.458 4. Kevan Smith 1.283 5. Moncada 1.217 (8/16, only 3 k's)
-
Kopech gets through 4.1, 77 pitches. Pulled by Vinas. Doesn't seem to be hurt, must have been at 80 pitch limit. 3 walks, 10 k's.
-
8 k's, wiped out the guy who homered with offspeed pitch after getting tagged by a hard hit ball hit back up the middle. Shook it off. 9 k's. Runner advanced to second a steal. Kopech is entertaining, now a passed ball on catcher. 10 k's. Almost 70 pitches through 4. Fun stuff.
-
Moncada needs to work on his bunting. No surprise there. Had runners on first and second, popped it up trying to sacrifice himself. Walk parade though. Delmonico just took one with bases loaded after W Garcia walked, 2-1 with Smith up. Smith singles, Hayes GS, 7-1 in a heartbeat.
-
8 outs, six via K's. Two Xbase hits, walk, hbp. Throwing more offspeed stuff now...mostly sliders. 7 k's through 3 ip. 51 p, 30 strikes.
-
Kopech throwing 90-92 mph sliders but just gave up a run scoring double over Basto's head. Hawkins apparently made a terrible defensive play yesterday, so DHing today.
-
Kopech just pegged someone on the ankle. Ouch. 5 k's in first 9 batters.
-
I'm going to guess Giolito is actually 91-93 and the gun's off, which isn't uncommon. That said, he's nowhere close to 96-98. Reminiscent of Erik Johnson. What is Lee at? 4 k's for Kopech through 2. Hunter Jones homer for Barons. Defensive whiz C. Rondon won't be hitting .600 for long.
-
Kopech reportedly at 99. 2nd K, this one on a changeup. Second inning. Just gave up a huge bomb on a FB. The guy who hit it led the Southern League in homers last year. 450 feet, 98 mph, 105 exit velocity. 3rd k. Now hitting 102.

http://www.milb.com/common/tunein_popup.js...&abbrev=JXN Jackson Generals feed, can't get BIRM to work. One K, one BB and no hits so far for Kopech.
-
http://www.milb.com/common/tunein_popup.js...brev='' Radio link for Barons' game
-
They're probably going to be forced to replace May first...pretty clear he's not ready and getting thrown to the wolves.
-
Kopech's starting for Birmingham as well. Looks like 6 pm start times for both, EST.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 08:50 AM) Whatever happened to the quick defeat of ISIS? Maybe Jared hasn't had time to get around to that. Too busy fighting for positioning close to Xi Jinping and his wife at Mar-A-Lago, not to mention the pictures afterwards. Also must have taken J some time to switch Bannon and Miller to the other end of the dinner table between two Chinese interpreters. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/world/2017xiv..._28843561_7.htm Jared's brother has an even tougher life. Dating a top Victoria's Secret model and debating whether or not to take on Derek Jeter in a bid for ownership of the Marlins.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 08:46 AM) Any other sources than Wonderslist? Didn't do extensive research, but it feels like our perception of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark being close to utopia has a few flaws (other than permanent winter and high tax rates). At any rate, at this point, we don't know how long the Uzbeki was legally in Sweden, his immigration status, or when he first arrived. Some have tried to tie him to ISIS, but nothing substantive yet. Khalid Masood, the Parliament attacker, was 52 and had spent most of his adult life in England before radicalizing.

That same area in Syria where the chemical attack occurred Tuesday was struck by Russians/Syrians again today, with at least one local civilian woman a casualty. Now what? Plus, you have a Russian warship heading to the East Med from the Black Sea.

Hard to poke holes in much of this narrative without more documentation...but it seems to be typical of the responses I've been reading on the message board from the conservative/nationalist side about this recent truck attack in Sweden. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_statistics Interestingly, the per capita number of rapes reported in "happy" Sweden is roughly 2.5X greater than the US, and it only goes back to 2010, before the latest wave of Middle Eastern immigration hit Europe. http://www.wonderslist.com/10-countries-highest-rape-crime/ Sweden 3rd, highest in Europe. Had no idea. Forty years ago, the Swedish government decided to change the formerly homogenous Sweden into a multicultural nation. The Socialist regime in Sweden realized it was losing the support of ethnic Swedes, so in an attempt to cling to power, they threw open the doors to Muslims. In fact the Swedish socialists have actually invited the entire nation of Syria to move to Sweden. This policy has had disastrous results. Violent crime has increased by 300 percent and rapes by 1,472 percent. Sweden is now number two on the list of rape countries, surpassed only by the tiny nation of Lesotho in Southern Africa. Statistics suggest that 1 out of every 4 Swedish women will be raped in their lifetime. A report by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention found that that Muslim immigrants from North Africa were 23 times more likely to commit rape than Swedish men. In the big picture 77 percent of rapes are committed by the 2 percent Muslim male population. What has truly made Sweden "The Rape Capital of Western World" is the lack of punishment for Islamic immigrants who commit rape. Only 3 percent of Muslim rapists are ever convicted. The Swedish courts have demonstrated shocking sympathy for the rapists. They have acquitted suspects who have claimed that the victim wanted to have sex with six, seven or eight men at a time. When one Islamic rapist was about to be deported, he claimed to have converted to Christianity and was given political asylum. A three year child was raped by an Islamic migrant and the Swedish immigration board hid him from legal authorities. You can find endless lists of these horrors on the Internet. The following story shows savagery of these perpetrators: In Stockholm, Sweden, as many as 20 Muslim men gang-raped an 11-year-old girl. A mother was hosting a birthday party at a public bath/swim center for a group of 11 and 12 year old children. Up to 20 Muslim men who lived at a nearby refugee center arrived at the public facility. They immediately began to assault the children, ripping their swimsuits off and beating the boys who tried to stop the assault. Eventually, the men cornered one of the little girls in a grotto in the bathhouse and gang raped her. The police refused to make any arrests. [1] The Swedish media also go to incredible lengths to cover-up Muslim rape crimes. News organizations will frequency pixelate or lighten the skin of Muslim rapists. The newspaper Aftonposten described the rapists in one case as "Swedish men" when they actually were Somalis without Swedish citizenship. In another case, a Swedish woman was raped for hours by what the media called migrant "children." In reality, these were full grown men. The Swedish people have failed to understand that there is a culture of rape in Islam. Under Sharia law, Swedish women are "infidels" and as such, are, according to Allah's teachings, sanctioned targets for rape by Muslim men. The feminists of Europe should be the most outraged by Islamic rape. These progressive women are so diluted by their own liberal ideology that I don't think witnessing to Islamic rapists would change their minds. They do nutty things like wear head scarves to show solidarity with Islamic women. The craziest thing about this problem is what can happen to someone who points out the obvious truth. If someone cites the governments only stats about who is committing the most rapes in Sweden, that person can be convicted of a hate crime. Sweden Democrat Party politician Michael Hess of Karl//skrona was sentenced last year to a fine after he simply connected the religion of Islam with rape. It is just pure madness that the MSM refuses to report on this or for not saying it is wrong for Muslim men to rape women and children.
