  1. Moncada now 6/10....all singles, walk and 3 k's. Fulmer has really settled down and pitched well. 5/5/1/1/5. 86 pitches. Not sure if they'll send him out to start the 6th or not.
  2. Fulmer through 3 innings, 57 pitches....1 er, homer by Logan Wolverine Schaefer. Last at bat with Chris Johnson, lots of foul contact, struggled to get a swing and a miss. 2 k's, 1 bb.
  3. You're actually watching the Kanny game? Or Gameday just says infield hit/s?
  4. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/222750644/ml...trout-in-draft/ Worthwhile article to check out. Jared Mitchell gets name-checked for the 10,000th time. Have to feel sorry for those guys taken ahead of him who didn't amount to much. Another interesting note, the White Sox had already seen Hector Santiago fly up their prospect lists after being a pretty low draft pick out of NJ, so they had to at least be aware of him. Laughed a bit at the scout's comparison with Aaron Rowand. We were having a hard enough time finding another Rowand/Crede by then, let alone the best player in the world.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) Minimal damage https://twitter.com/IraqiSecurity/status/850385429144711173 "The damage across the Syrian Al-Shayrat airfield is evident nonetheless. This base operated mainly vs. Da'ish in the Homs desert/Palmyra." Basically, we're helping the terrorist groups by protecting them from air attack. But the international community is galvanized, well...sort of, just not enough to join with the US again.
  6. It all depends on your belief that gender-identification is a conscious choice and not a genetic predisposition. With all the discrimination that still exists in society today...try to imagine a son or daughter deliberately provoking confrontation and "being threatening to others," why would any sane/logical/rational person choose that difficult path? To suffer the stings of a largely prejudiced society (outside of the coastal areas of the US) and force their parents/family/friends to suffer? To get back at God? It's also because very few who share your beliefs are willing to argue them publicly, knowing the argument will at some point devolve into a religion/faith-based one.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Right now, you call the Royals and trade them Robertson for 2-3 minor leaguers. They are desperate for bullpen help and he might save their season. Other than that, you are not going to get much for any of our guys. Nobody wants Frazier before free agency, ditto Melky and Av and Soto. Nobody wants anybody except Q. But you have a desperate team in the Royals. Robertson might save their season. Three problems. The White Sox would have to eat substantial salary, the relative lack of remaining talent in their farm system to find a match and their rebuilding starting next year when they definitely won't need a super expensive closer and are already stuck with a bad Soria contract. Nate Jones is the one they would want, more likely. Maybe Putnam if he proves to be healthy/effective again.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) One of your links made my computer go bats*** crazy so I didn't open it. What did it say? What's my bathroom argument? That you're essentially justified in feeling threatened, along with huge but "silent" numbers of fellow Americans who are offended.
  9. The problem is if the Indians run away with things early....there's suddenly a lot of AL Central supply hitting the June/July trade market competing with our dump list, unfortunately. Luis Robert might be the bigger get than the return value of all those veteran guys combined.
  10. Jesse Ventura. I think he means Sanders was projected by a number of hypothetical polls to beat Trump. As far as Gorsuch goes, nothing matters until the next SC nominee under Trump, if it happens. That's when you'll see a true rebalancing of the court. Did Trump consider that weakening that particular airport in Homs will create a power vacuum in that region that will be filled more likely by emboldened terrorist groups (air strength is the main advantage for the Syrian/Russian side) than the anti-Assad rebels? Once again, what is our anti-ISIS plan that we were promised during the campaign, at least in rough outline form? Trump scored some political points...his approval rating will bump back into the low 40's again, but he also just created another terrorist recruitment video along with the civilian/mother and child casualties in Yemen and Mosul.
  11. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=milb Moncada's first AAA hit, single to the left side with SS playing him to pull.
  12. Surely Jared Kushner already has a replacement for Assad already in mind. Drum roll. Tiffany Trump. In all seriousness, that was the easy part. It's anything but Air Force, missile and predator strikes that gets tricky. No Fly or Safe Zones....good luck bringing Russia on board with that now. Even if Russia walked away today (and they're already back in the air with the Syrian Air Force), nobody, not even McMaster or Mattis, has the first clue about what to do after they remove Assad. And removing him without boots on the ground and Russia contesting the air space, a long long quagmire waiting to happen (again).
  13. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/target-boyco...-141019006.html Thought Greg would enjoy seeing his bathroom argument being validated by the Target boycott, which has cost them millions of dollars, and started from a single unauthorized Target corporate blog post (but didn't go through the CEO).
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) 3 homers in 2 days. He's back? The two walks are more significant. But Jared Weaver's not exactly a flamethrower. Supposedly, the weight gain (and lifting) in recent years was adversely affecting his bat speed. We'll see.
  15. Tie game, bases loaded (two on intentional walks, one to Moncada, who's reached 4 times in 6 PA)...in bottom of the 9th. Had two opportunities with Delmonico and Willy Garcia but both struck out against Logan Verrett. On to the 10th, Beck in for Charlotte.
  16. There's another problem...Syria is going to declare war on the US, and Trump went around both the Congress and United Nations. EDIT: 3rd problem, there were Russians at the air base that was struck. No word on casualties there. Then again, the way Haley was talking at the UN, this could have been predicted by the tone of her speech and the looks from the Russian ambassador. It puts Xi Jinping in an interesting position....Trump will push him to come out publicly against Assad, or try to back him into his traditional corner with the Russians (against military action when state/national sovereignty is at issue). Russia and China both felt burned when they abstained from voting in the Security Council when Libya was the crisis of the day and felt tricked by the US.
  17. http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/06/politics/don...tary/index.html Seems there are two objectives...finally showing independence with Russia and a shot across the bow with Xi Jinping in town, and Mattis/McMaster/Tillerson, etc., all together down in Florida. US showing its militaristic side...with Bannon/Preibus/Conway/Miller being pushed to the side in favor of Kushners and generals.
  18. Now the missile count is 50-60. Interesting timing with Xi Jinping and his wife arriving in Florida/Mar-A-Lago tonight for dinner from Finland. Did that get cancelled or postponed?
  19. Letting Burdi pitch another inning. Guess they wanted to see how he fared head to head with Alvarez, who was sitting on 5 RBI's into that AB.
  20. Haha...back in 2013, he was one of the few things that kept me interested in baseball. Now we at least have our minor league system, Luis Robert and the next 3 drafts.
  21. The Everth Cabrera error to start Lopez's inning didn't help...but he didn't do himself any favors either with his control. 3 runs earned, 4 total runs, very high pitch count (not unlike Boyd for the Tigers earlier today). Encouraging to see Moncada get off to a quick start, and Collins as well. Which game is Giolito starting, FRI or SAT? Finally, does anyone know when Kopech's slated to go?
  22. Ryan Howard just signed with Braves, will report to Gwinnett.
  23. Lopez had 3 k's and a gopher ball (to Pedro Alvarez) in the top half. For those watching, how does his stuff look? Fwiw, most of the top half of the Norfolk lineup has a lot more MLB playing time than the average AAA roster.
  24. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/222471336/mi...opicId=27118122
  25. Well, the Rangers were at home. Had a two run leading going into the top of the 9th, ending up losing 9-6. Texas has never started 0-3 and still made the playoffs.
