  1. Tim Anderson won't be heading to Chicago until September 1st unless something dramatic has happened with Rollins/Saladino/Sanchez.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:54 PM) Awesome game in Oakland. Davis walk off slam for his 3rd homer. And yes I'm still mad Fowler or Desmond isn't on the Sox Nobody agreed about Desmond all off-season (Desmond now has an 803 OPS). Rollins has a 664 OPS with below average defense/range and Saladino's at 598. Fwiw, that's the rare second three homer game in a week, KC lost the game Cain hit them.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Already 6 homers in 72 PA. Had 5 in 132 with us last season. I know he's their 4th outfielder, but Dodgers need to stop f***ing with him and leave him at CF. He'd easily be a 1.5-2 WAR player right now. You can't bench Joc Pederson, so that means either Puig or Crawford...whose contract they still want to extract SOME type of value out of. Not to mention Ethier will be coming back at some point as well.
  4. As someone who has played soccer since 4th/5th grade and coached it and watch all the World Cup, UEFA Champions' League etc., there's no way that soccer is the sport lowering baseball viewing. Part of it's about baseball representing an older generation of fans (comparatively), and also many in their 40's-80's actually prefer to follow the sport via a radio broadcast, which doesn't work quite as well for the other major sports. As someone mentioned, along with At Bat (I-pad/mobile phones), you have GameDay audio, you're starting to get free games/content at YAHOO and Facebook and Twitter, etc. Actually, the Cubs winning the World Series this year would be great in general for baseball as a sport because it would bring new fans (especially youngsters) to the sport, and that's where baseball has been losing to basketball, football, NASCAR, extreme sports/X-Games, Esports, mixed martial arts, etc. Right now, the NBA and MLB are about on even par in terms of profitability and team valuations.
  5. The Manager's RULEBOOK says you play for the big innings at home...granted, he wasn't just playing for the tie, as there were two runners on, but our sacrifice bunting has been horrible since, yeah...the year 2000. And the other factor to consider is that holding a 1 run lead (well, ANY lead) has been far from automatic for this team in the past week. Playing for a big inning (especially with Jones unavailable) seemed to be the better play.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) LOL, classic. Wow...burn! You and Dick Allen should have your own comedy routine duo booked by now.
  7. Why would the Astros want Tim Anderson? They have the best young SS in baseball in Correa. To move Correa to 3B? At any rate, they're definitely not trading an established and successful big league hitter for someone who hasn't had the chance to prove himself at the next level.
  8. 1-5 including the Tuesday night Ryan Rua debacle in Texas. No extension forthcoming. 3 1/2 up on the Indians, 4 1/2 on the Royals and just 6 on the Tigers. A week ago it was 6/7/8 games up. Fans still on the fence about this team, 13,481 in attendance. Lots of little things, lack of clutch hitting, the defense has started to make some mistakes, the bullpen has completely turned into the Cuyahoga River in the early 1980's other than Robertson, no Frazier, etc. On the plus side, Adam Eaton continues to be one of the best players in the majors. But Jose Abreu, where art thou?
  9. Have hated Neshek ever since he used to own us pitching for the Piranhas.
  10. How close was Abreu's ball to going out? Following on GameDay. That's two near misses, the other was Austin Jackson's to LF against the Angels that would have been a walk-off winner.
  11. How close was Abreu's ball to going out? Following on GameDay. That's two near misses, the other was Austin Jackson's to LF against the Angels that would have been a walk-off winner.
  12. Robertson with 21 pitches and 6 outs. Don't think Ventura can pitch him tmrw, although I'm sure Robertson would say that he's good to go if asked.
  13. The dreaded White, Valbuena and Jason Castro due up.
  14. Abreu having a very rough night after that solo homer to RCF. Albers will come in here, one would presume?
  15. They tied it up at least. Now can the bullpen hold down the Astros if we don't manage a walk-off win? Let's hope we don't have to find out!!!
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) I think people forget this isnt a 16 game season. But a good portion of it is what I said above. Some of these people would be "happier" as Atlanta Brave fans. C'mon Carlos, we can screw up two sac bunts in one game, can we? Yes, it would be nice to be a Braves fan because they had 14 consecutive playoff appearances, a brand-new suburban stadium funded by taxpayers is coming...the Shelby Miller steal of the decade trade, their minor league system is brimming with talent and the only real issue with the entire organization is figuring out what to do about Hector Olivera. Oh, and the #1 draft pick next June, because there's no way the Twins will finish with a worse record. Plus you get to cheer for Gordon Beckham, Tyler Flowers and AJ, lol.
  17. And we'll have the "Frazier was sick" excuse. Please, please, please....this team needs a 9th inning walk-off comeback in the worst possible way. Yeah, no matter what happens, the lead will still be a 3 1/2 and 4 1/2, but it's not that so much as the feeling around the team that's slipping.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) Can't wait to see what the Sox record is on June 19th. Anything less than 42-28 isn't good enough after starting 23-10. Right now, it's hard to imagine the bullpen just holding the lead for any game where the starter doesn't hand the ball over to Robertson in the 9th. These games against the Astros were supposed to be "the break in our schedule." The hell part is coming up soon. It feels like this division is going to be fought between 5-10 games over .500 now with lots of ebbs and flows back and forth. The idea of the White Sox running away and hiding from their competition went out the window last Tuesday night, along with that 11-6 lead.
  19. To top if off, we have the 7-9 hitters due up for the 9th inning. When things go bad, they really go bad in a hurry. Amazing to think we started this week STILL as the 2nd best team in MLB according to the ESPN Power Rankings.
  20. The bullpen has been pitching like they're still shell-shocked or have PTSD from last week's implosion/s. Somehow, they have to get their confidence back. Sale can't pitch over them forever. Royals adding insurance runs against the Red Sox, now up 7-4. Indians and Tigers won already.
  21. All I want to know is how did a team with this much talent lose 24 games already??? I know, starting pitching and the bullpen...but at worst they should be around .500 imo. Harris has a 0.51 ERA, RHB hitting .133 against him with 9 k's in 31 BF. YIKES. WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A LEFT-HANDED BAT TO COME OFF THE BENCH FOR THESE SITUATION....JUST MAYBE???
  22. Zach Duke was the biggest "sucker play" in a long time...putting up all those stats in the NL Central for a team playing meaningless baseball in 2014. Doesn't matter about arm angles or whatever when you're throwing mid to high 80's. We should have learned when the White Sox absolutely obliterated him as a rookie starter with the Pirates.
  23. Tyler White was hitting .190 since that offensive explosion April 7th/8th. Glad to see we helped him recover.
  24. That's what having a contact hitter does there for you...put the ball in play, good things happen. Shouldn't have pitched to him in the first place.
  25. I would just walk Altuve and set up the DP ball for Springer. Maddon would do that. Or the K.
