White Sox vs. Indians 5/20 Game Thread

Almost wishing we had Jordan Danks up there, but he undoubtedly would have struck out as well. At least we might have had one of his random shining moments, a walk-off grand slam or something....if he just closed his eyes, picked a location and swung. -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:29 PM) Doesn't matter, Harper still shouldn't of gotten thrown out in the 3rd inning because he didn't get in the box quick enough. All about ego. Fans don't pay to see umpires show up players, though. If you only go to one Nationals' game per year with your family, how disappointing would that result be? And then have to explain it to your children...sigh.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) Righties twice as good as lefties vs Allen this year, and all 3 righties that inning reached. Good point. But it's the traditional textbook manager's response, LHB vs. RHP. I agree, though, Beckham was likely to at least make contact (this season)...somewhere. Shuck doesn't get enough playing time to maintain any type of offensive rhythm. Gordon's had a lot more AB's this year. Plus, the colder weather. All those elements would argue for using Beckham. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) One-run loss. Why the f*ck was Jennings kept in so long. Argh. If you don't believe in Petricka or Putnam, why are they even on the roster? Just for mop up? Does Ventura even look at the splits for Jennings? You just can't give up 3 runs in that inning. As Farmer and DJ always say, runs scored by the opposition from the 7th inning on have a way of coming back to bite you in the end. That was especially the case tonight. And Conor's got to be a bit more patient in that situation. The pressure's 100% on the pitcher. Same with Avi. -

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:23 PM) This continuously empty ballpark nonsense - brought on by continuously failing ownership - just must stop at some point. It is beyond ridiculous. Reinsdorf's horrible management of this franchise needs to either figure out a way to improve this situation, or bow out in favor of a group that can. But our ballpark game after game, season after season, being as empty as it is - completely unacceptable at this point. Time for our fan base to demand something better! We could have had an extra 100-200 Indians' fans if it weren't for the Cavs/Hawks game, haha. Maybe tmrw. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) Sox remain bizarre. All those comeback wins, then tonight again. I guess that's the definition of a perennial .500 to .485 team. Wow, you're very specific tonight statistically. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) This has been a really poorly managed, performed and umpired game Luckily, Cleveland fans were spared this one...and could just tune in after the Cavs' win to be pleasantly surprised their team was in the process of winning consecutive games for just the 2nd or 3rd time all season long. At least the vendors are happy....Rodon starts have to be averaging 3 1/2 hours each time he goes out there. Maybe not so happy to be stuck at the park so long when there's a low attendance weeknight game. -

Hahn's biggest failure, overall, has to be the catching situation since AJ left. Granted, there are no easy answers...and there aren't more than 5-7 decent two-way catchers in MLB right now...but the failure is more in accepting mediocrity (well, below that even) and not trying something/someone else. Investing Melky's money into Russell Martin, for example. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) According to fangraphs WAR, out of 176 position players: - Melky is 160th - Alexei 168th - Eaton- 173rd No other team is close to having 3 guys that low in the rankings. And that's not including Flowers/Soto and Micah/Sanchez because they don't qualify. The offense is just a black hole right now. It might be tolerable if Abreu was hitting like he did the first 3 months last year. -

Barring another miracle comeback from the Sox, it looks like Minn, Detroit, KC and the Indians will all win tonight. -

Well, another great opportunity to come back against the Indians' bullpen. Can only go to that well so often, though. -

We can probably tolerate a sub 500 OPS from Sanchez for now...but how long can that last? It's not like they can turn around and go back to Micah. They'd have to use Bonifacio or Beckham. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 20, 2015 -> 05:20 PM) I don't think the rape turns Sansa into a victim, it empowers her to finally fight back against the people who have been attacking her and her family from day one. Are you Bobby Knight, lol? Actually...the Sand Snakes stuff reminds me of my favorite daytime soap opera from the 80's and early 90's, Santa Barbara. Terrible. It's just way off tune with the rest of the show...almost inexplicable with so many experts involved that that's what they'd end up with on screen when all is said and done. -

It's like when Juan Pierre hits one, almost. I think even Pods had one season with the Brewers (maybe his rookie year) where he hit around 10 or so... Or Leury/Lillibridge Bomb. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 20, 2015 -> 07:23 PM) Ditch Southpaw...................never got why Ribby and Rhubarb got axed! Because they were terrible, amorphous tubs of goo/human blobs with no worthwhile characteristics and weird colors, lol. The Indians' announcers were going on and on about how the PA announcer at USCF seems very very upset (borderline rage) when he calls out the player names....EMILIO BONIFACIO....like he's declaring war on Panama or something with his speaking style. Too funny.
