First Place Blue Jays Come to Town
Let's give Montgomery at least ten days....one huge positive is getting him with five hits on the books quickly, so not having to worry about another sub 200 BA on the scoreboard.
- Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale

First Place Blue Jays Come to Town
That would be a huge jump. Never thought even Jays fans could make that much noise in Chicago but tons come down for the shopping/tourism experience…

Colson Montgomery has arrived
Montgomery has never been objectively fast...but he should be able to hustle like Burger. He looked athletic enough on the triple and diving catch...maybe more dynamic than expected even based upon previous reports. Getaway day before the ASG explains a lot of the body language. Season is a slog to get through. Had a ton of travel this week as well...bit of jet lag after the initial burst of excitement wore off.

And that's a 10-3 15 hit Sosa and Colson powered WHITE SOX WINNER

Marlins claim Nick Nastrini
Yeah they already have way too many who are best suited for 2B 3B 1B.

While Everyone Talks about the Tatis trade, was the Samardzija trade even worse?
90s Cubs baseball is when they pulled away with taking the city over for good, whether it was steroids-driven or not. WGN Harry Caray and Sosa.

Thint they might hold Walker for one more shot...like Adell has gotten with the Angels. The problem is they are in a competitive playoff race in StL and have less patience with Walker continuing to struggle. Another often-debated former top prospect, Moniak, had an 800 ops coming into yesterday's games for Colorado. G.Canario with Pitt basically what everyone thought he was....

Trading Deadline
Unless you're going into the 2027-28 seasons...it isn't going to make much sense. Probably a similar deal to Fedde.

7/4 Independence Day Porta Potty Bowl: Sox at Rox 7:10 CDT
You're maybe thinking of when a batted ball hits a baserunner.... catcher's interference has no statistical result for the batter. "When a runner is hit by a batted ball in fair territory, the play is ruled a dead ball, the runner is out, and the batter is awarded a single while the closest defender is credited with the putout. However, there are exceptions to this rule where runners are allowed to advance to the next base."

Moniak now exactly at an 800 ops.

Misses on curveball and slider low. 59.4 EV lol catcher's interference is definitely a unique way to start your big league career.

Jinxed. Luckily the Sox do have Houser going for them...but who knows how long his pitching run continues.

Fire Chris Getz
Well the Sox standard for "really good" hitting is just a 700 ops...only 100 less than the rest of baseball. And convincing ourselves Chase Meidroth was closer to a unicorn than Madrigal. Or that Sosa's hitting could overcome his other fundamental deficiencies. Sure you always need some complementary/average to below average glue guys on a roster..but going nowhere without 2-3 stars.

THE "ELKO EFFECT" SHATTERED ATTENDANCE RECORDS ACROSS THE NATION...except you were once on that bandwagon too. And that was still better/more rational than playing Palacios Amaya Maton Noda Capra Dalbec Drury.

Colson Montgomery has arrived
Some believe Montgomery could take off at the big league level after dealing with true on-field struggles for the first time in his career. His chance begins at Coors Field. “He was always a superstar and he still is a superstar in my eyes and in our eyes,” Jirschele said. “Just going through those failures and watching him grow as a person, as a human being, as a competitor, and understanding like, ‘Ok, what do I need to do to turn the page on this and get better from it and learn from it?’ It’s the right way going about it.” “Even in the clubhouse, even in the early work, even during batting practice, some of the body language stuff that we can get from guys that they’re telling you some things about where their head’s at, how they’re feeling, those kinds of things,” White Sox director of player development Paul Janish said. “Colson is in a good place. He expects success right now, which is exciting.” More Jirschele: “He’s a really good teammate. He brings energy. He has an infectious smile about him. He just creates a vibe where he makes people better. He makes his teammates better. When he’s around them, guys gravitate toward him. Everything that his aura brings to a clubhouse, it’s infectious.” merkin mlb.com

Luis Robert has what value now exactly? And I’m not sure what they did to actually develop him other than writing his name into MiLB lineups. He’s currently worth less than Houser. He does have 2023…like Rodon’s 2021. And all the Cubans were Paddy and Hahn/KW anyway. Also, the Red Sox are/were the ones who originally identified/drafted Braden…in the same way the White Sox scouting staff gets credit for Tatis, although neither player suited up officially for those teams. The big wins for Getz right now are Vargas, Shane Smith and Meidroth. Congrats I guess??? And Houser. Or do plaudits go to WcKinven instead on former Brewers?

Orioles 5 GB of Boston for fourth White Sox 12 1/2 GB of KC A's 7 1/2 GB of Rangers Nats 2 1/2 GB of Braves Pirates 7 1/2 GB of Reds Rockies 23 GB of AZ for FOURTH Two teams playing tonight certainly have something in common...only double digital spreads between last and fourth place, respectively. That doesn't include the Angels and Marlins, who are both wildly outperforming pythagoreans, along with the Guardians. Pirates are actually a quite respectable -29 in RS/RA.

7/4 Independence Day Porta Potty Bowl: Sox at Rox 7:10 CDT
https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/COL/2025.shtml Goodman Beck and Moniak their three best hitters...along with Tovar and McMahon, who's likely to be traded at the deadline. Estrada and Freeman solid off the bench.

Rockies 6-8 their last 14 games...and won 10 games during June. Wouldn't be surprised to see them take 2 out of 3. That would put them on pace for exactly .250 winning percentage and 40.5-121.5.
