  1. Because White Sox fans generally want to have a better...not worse, team to watch in the near-distant future. Embarrassment on a national basis is the best way to get there...compared to your run of the mill 88-99 loss seasons that fly under the radar like the Pirates in Pittsburgh.
  2. Waited too long to bring in Booser.
  3. PCA jerseys must be everywhere in Chicagoland...
  4. Sigh. Of course.
  5. Meidroth on 12 times now this series.
  6. Nashville has zero public money for the Sox as well. That's not happening. Who wants a team this bad when expansion is the cleaner pathway?
  7. How the heck did that fall in? More of Getz's top defense...
  8. Booser got ready but Venable can't decide when to put him in.
  9. Booser? Ph a righty? Dingler?
  10. Should be Burke's last hitter.
  11. curveball the nullifier..
  12. Combination of payroll, attendance and lowered RSN fees. Covid year, etc.
  13. White Sox debt in the $125-150 million range...
  14. Because the Twins weren't worth $1.6 billion with $450 million in debt to also pay off.
  15. Can we please end the Rojas ass kissing ? Or wait until he's higher than a 500 ops?
  16. Meidroth Quero and maybe Elko only relevant members of today's line up. It's a particularly ugly looking one.
  17. He's a WS champ with the Rangers. Albeit less than 10 IP that year w/ Texas.
  18. Looks like the White Sox capitulated "The agreement will relegate the Chicago Sports Network to the “Ultimate” tier of Xfinity TV, the most-expensive pay TV package offered by Comcast, WMAQ reported. By contrast, NBC Sports Chicago was offered on the “Popular” tier until it shut down last year. The Popular tier is less-expensive than the Ultimate plan. Marquee Sports Network, which offers Chicago Cubs baseball games, is expected to stay on the Popular plan. Comcast subscribers who pay for the Ultimate tier of Xfinity TV will be able to watch games through their set-top boxes, and will also have access to the Chicago Sports Network app with their Xfinity TV credentials. Frugal sports fans can watch the Chicago Sports Network in the Chicago area on two digital sub-channels of WJYS (Channel 62) when they install an antenna in the back of their TVs. They can also purchase a standalone subscription to the streaming version of Chicago Sports Network, which costs $20 per month." https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/college-sports/deal-reached-to-bring-chicago-sports-network-to-comcast/ar-AA1G7xDs?ocid=BingNewsSerp
  19. Looks like the White Sox capitulated "A major hurdle in discussions has been the issue of channel placement, according to a source close to the negotiations. Cable providers have increasingly moved to place regional sports networks in premium tiers or packages that come at a higher cost to consumers. CHSN’s goal is to be available to as many fans as possible, the source said. CHSN has agreed to lower rights fees from Comcast, but has been unwilling to accept Comcast’s proposal to place CHSN on the cable service’s highest tier, the source said. NBC Sports Chicago, the previous broadcast home to the three teams, had been on Comcast’s middle tier." Oct 12 2024 @ NY Times/The Athletic
  20. Xfinity’s Ultimate tier “will cost customers an additional $20 per month.” Customers “had been receiving a monthly credit of $8.85 to offset the loss of NBC Sports Chicago,” which went off the air Sept. 30. While CHSN will air on the Ultimate tier, the Cubs’ Marquee Sports Network is “expected to remain on the Popular tier through the season and move to the Ultimate tier before next season” (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 6/5).
  21. Prediction Ryan Cusick will get closing opportunities before the end of the season for the Sox. BA Scouting Report Scouting Grades: Fastball: 70. Slider: 55. Changeup: 40. Control: 40 Scouting Report: Scouts loved Cusick’s power potential in college (Wake Forest, same school as Shane Smith) harbored concerns about his inconsistent command. That assessment has held true so far as a pro. His plus fastball sat more in the 95-97 mph range in 2022 and the metric-savvy righthander worked with the A’s to tweak the grip on his fastball to restore some induced vertical break. He’s still working to find a consistent feel for his breaking ball. The Braves worked with Cusick to throw a harder, vertically-breaking slider. The pitch sat 85-86 and has above-average potential, but was inconsistent in both shape and command. He rarely turns to his firm, low-90s changeup that needs considerable refinement. There’s some reliever risk in Cusick’s delivery, although his injury may have contributed to his strike-throwing woes in 2022.
  22. White Sox: Shane Smith, SP Previous All-Star appearances: none Smith has been one of the White Sox bright spots during a third straight lackluster season for the team. The rookie was the top pick in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft from Milwaukee and has since worked his way to the top of the rotation with a 2.45 ERA following Tuesday’s 5 1/3-inning scoreless effort against first-place Detroit. Smith’s 2.68 ERA over his first 11 career starters entering Tuesday ranks as the 11th-lowest mark in franchise history, per STATS. -- Scott Merkin
  23. Is JR likely to spend more, the same or less money on payroll next off season if the Sox retain the record for most losses in a season? Serious question.
  24. Not even within 30 games of fourth place in the NL West by season's end.
  25. r/baseball on Reddit: [Speier] The Red Sox ... have lost 17 one-run games ... www.reddit.com › baseball › comments 1 day ago · Pretty sure the record is 44 one run losses in a season. If they try really hard our Red Sox could set an all time record. That would be... Boston 6-17 so far this season
