GT: Sox vs Royals 1:10 PM CHSN
Last White Sox sweep was May of last year. Want to say the Rays. Actually the playoff-bound Guardians May 9-11. Ten year anniversary of the Royals' WS win over NYM.

Schiffren must be playing up the all VA Cavaliers battery between Teel and Vasil...overlapped for one year.

GT: Sox vs Royals 1:10 PM CHSN
Definitely the peak of the Venable Era so far...have now won 4/5. Feeling more like a team by the day.

Venable injecting some confidence putting Vargas in the cleanup spot. Probably not a homer but a loud out in KC.

Minoso, Jackie Robinson murals defaced with racial slurs/swastikas in Miami
In a red dominant state...it's just as likely that someone would undertake a false flag operation to deliberately provoke a woke/leftist protest response...eventually leading to the National Guard getting called in. The right once again wins the identity politics war. Or maybe it's Putin operatives or Chinese in South Florida trying to turn Americans against each other like they have for the last decade. Maybe the left attempting to frame or set up the right to take the fall? Everyone can create all these different scenarios in their heads. And draw attention to what? Utilizing the resulting publicity to generate more donations for liberal community organizations or 501-c-3's? Or it could just be pure simple unadulterated hate/prejudice/racism. Or Trevor Bauer did it to get back in the news. Or bored kids like the Jackie Robinson statue incident in Wichita.

Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
Will the GM's of the White Sox, Marlins, Rockies or Pirates ever get another baseball job at that level or higher in the future? Seems highly highly unlikely...

Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
Once upon a time we had Steele Walker, Call, Fisher, Luis Gonzalez, Rutherford, Adolfo, Cespedes...none of those guys made it, except Call eventually with Wash. Now there's only Zavala and Wolkow behind Braden...both those guys are becoming longshots, same with Veras at AA. Wolkow just might get the benefit for now on age....but the profile is a bit of mess right now.

If they blow through Houston, Texas, St.Louis and the Blue Jays over the next two weeks...well, that would be something. Just playing .500 baseball would be a minor miracle. All that said...finally playing some competitive games against Detroit and KC is decidedly progress, but Sox likely go 1-3 against Detroit if they hadn't pushed back Skubal for the Cubs. Not to mention the two "best" players entering this season in Robert and Vaughn, essentially have negative value. That's not going to be offset by trading off Tauchman, Slater, Booser, etc. At least there seems to be a new spirit around the team with Vaughn's lingering mopiness exiled to CHLT.

2025 MiLB Catch All thread
Anthony needs a spot...they're going to have to trade Duran or make Raffaela a utility guy and/or give up on Story at SS.

Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
Who would be happy being told by Getz not to expecting winning for basically three more years? Especially when outspending any AL Central ownership group going into the 2027-28 labor impasse would allow them to instantly stockpile talent over the other four cash-strapped teams? Instead Sox fans get 1994-95, Covid (when there's finally an exciting team after eight years) and now not even spending more than $5 million on a player...with promises basically NOT to spend in FA until 2028 at the earliest.

Latest Vaughn news...
689 ops in Charlotte is like 589. Fine for a middle infielder.
-
Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?
Except they have the massive advantage of the AL Central in their favor. And the third largest media market when they actually start spending again...and viewer numbers start to return (especially with Cubs' fans all forced to subscribe to the premium Comcast tier next year).

You also owe him the opportunity to go to a contender if there's a match.

He's a free agent this off season. Max his trade value now...you can always think about bringing him back again if no contenders bite.

6/7 Games
Which is a reasonable timeframe. 2025 was not...especially not starting his pro career until this season.

2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central
Only surprise is the Marlins and not the Rockies here...

Ishbia taking control by 2029?
Five years to competitiveness in the AL Central is just ridiculous. The Tigers/Twins spending in the $145-147 million range is not the AL/NL West or East by a long shot.
-
Ishbia taking control by 2029?
And that post was about the brother, Matt...not Justin. All reports are the Suns' owner is the secondary guy with the Sox. There's also a clear and massive difference between liquid and illiquid investments...such as JR's paper net worth with the two teams.
-
Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
What's the upside of keeping him over his current value?
-
Ishbia taking control by 2029?
How much of JR's net worth is liquid? 5-10% It's all in the valuations of two teams and land/development deals.

Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
Booser probably has some value and he's already into his early 30s. Depends on the offers, as always.
