Torborg documentary...
1990 team was the most fun for a young Sox baseball fan... Last year in the old stadium, Thomas/Ventura/McDowell and help coming along with the way with guys like Fernandez and Alvarez, Radinsky in the pen as a rookie. As a big "Skinny Panther" fan, that year was a total disaster for Sosa as Hrniak's lessons didn't take.

Grant Taylor set to join White Sox in HOU
But his very first appearance was a start against KC, if I remember correctly... He didn't enter the big league team as a reliever as guys like Buehrle and Sale and Crochet all did.

Giolito would be another...not exactly a poster child for good health. Btw, where do Crochet, Sale and Rodon stand in this category?

Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
White Sox fans simply got USED in the leverage game between the two sides. A real owner like Ishbia in Phoenix would figure out a way to reimburse all those who bought antennas in order to continue following a 41-121 team.

Carlos Rodon in 2021 pretty much provided the same value in fWAR for the team (especially in fWAR/$$$) compared to ALL the Getz moves over his last two years. Luckily/fortunately, he has Shane Smith (thanks to McKinven's recommendation) this year, and Meidroth/Vargas. Getz can also claim Fedde's 2024 first half as well/Vargas. That was 5.0 fWAR for Rodon alone. You can say that we had "home court advantage," but any GM in the majors could have signed him for a "quite reasonable" price. James McCann was worth 3.3 fWAR as well over his two years w/ the Sox. You'd be hard pressed to find 8.3 fWAR from Chris Getz "dumpster dives" the last two off seasons combined...at the cost of $50-60 million.

Here's all the optimism in the world for the 29th and 30th teams in the majors... 29. White Sox (previously: 29) When’s the last time the White Sox had as good of a week as they just had? They just split a series at home against a team (the Tigers) that came in with the best record in baseball. And then they won a series against the Royals, another playoff team from last year. They notched their 22nd win in their 64th game. Last year, it took them 83 games to make it that far. Progress! 30. Rockies (previously: 30) Considering how famously friendly to triples his home field is, you might not have expected rookie Ryan Ritter to be the first player in Rockies history to hit a triple in his first big league at-bat. But that just made it that much more exciting when he did it. He’s the sort of young player the Rockies need: Someone who isn’t too distressed with the state of the team right now. “We're all optimistic,” Ritter said. “We’ve got a lot of good things going on up here and down there. So we’ve got to keep going every day, and one day, something's going to click.” Here is your reminder that the Rockies actually pulled off a sweep this week! source: mlb.com

6/8 Games
If he was to bust, you can pretty much cancel the White Sox rebuild before it even gets started...he has to be a star run producer. Luckily, he doesn't have to come up with nearly the amount of pressure on him like Campbell, Mayer and now Anthony in Boston.

Ishbia taking control by 2029?
Dodgers have had 14 pitching injuries... And a LOT more depth, although things are getting a little bit chaotic at the major league level.

If the White Sox had the Bears’ equivalent of WR and TE talent…let’s call that the equivalent of the future outfield, then this rebuild would look so much better to the majority of fans.

Tray is surely going to put you on the "bad fan" list for betting against the White Sox.

https://champsorchumps.us/team/mlb/chicago-white-sox/worst-seasons What seems even sillier is "celebrating" now being on a 54-108 pace, which would be the FOURTH worst season all-time in White Sox history. Six of these seasons were direct fallout from the Black Sox scandal in 1919. Six of these seasons were associated with the Hahn/Getz Era. Three of these seasons with the post World War II Era.

If this was 2016/17 all over again, that would be one thing. We've already watched this show play out. Now we're watching it with even fewer young potential superstars and one of the lowest payrolls in the majors as the base (after Robert is traded/dumped), they'll be below the Marlins even (ofc Miami is trying hard to dump their own big contract in Alcantara despite his sky-high ERA). And then the stadium's another decade older as well...although that's FAR from the biggest issue at present, despite the numerous threads on the subject.

Or Detroit could have employed Skubal in his regular turn...at any rate, without a consistent bullpen, you're never going to get long/er winning streaks. 54-108 pace is hard to "proud of" but it's an improvement. Next two weeks will be tough, though.

So where is our Jon Lester cornerstone signing to indicate seriousness of intent? And what was their record in Years 4-6 of the rebuild?

Never a good idea to put Leasure in with runners on base.
