  1. Angels score 2 in the bottom of the 9th to tie it against Nathan. Amazingly, that DOUBLES the career runs (1) scored in the history of the Angels against Nathan....a ground ball hit up by the middle by Kendrick bounced off 2nd base when it would have been the end of the game. GMJ ripped a single down in the count on a breaking pitch prior to that...everything coming up roses for the White Sox so far in this amazing day (well, technically Friday morning now).
  2. That catch was like something out of "The Natural," minus Wonderboy. It just seemed like fate, both with the beating that Wise has taken from many and the fact that he was just inserted into the game. And I liked how Ozzie kind of shrugged it off and said "that's my job" about the substitution. Farmer was so non-chalant...it was like you had to watch it 3-5 times in slow motion to really appreciate it, because it happened so fast...and the ball was so close to coming loose. Harrelson was much more excited, as usual. I think Stone must have really enjoyed the game a lot too, unfortunately I can't get anything but gameday radio where I live.
  3. www.chicagotribune.com/sports has two more good stories up by Phil Rogers and Morrissey... haven't looked at the sun-times yet
  4. Has to be Torres. Can't imagine someone like Egbert, JVB or Whisler would get another crack at it...way too early for Hudson. Garcia's far from ready? Or has there been more encouraging reports in recent days?
  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Atul...o&type=lgns Very complimentary Jeff Passan story on Buehrle's quiet greatness... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AgqE...o&type=lgns Yes, Larry DeWayne Wise gets his own feature story, by Gordon Edes. Greatest catch/play ever in a no-hitter or perfect game is the focus of the article, and Wise's journey as an obscure player into a Cooperstown exhibit...
  6. I read where the blisters were causing a small circulatory problem, but that they had a good handle on it... There was still the possibility he would end up getting DLed, but they expected him (in recent days) to only miss one start. We'll see.
  7. BA actually does one thing well this year...time his "trade demand" to get completely buried by Buehrle and Wise, who is once-again the feel good story of redemption with Anderson completely forgotten about (except fan boys who claim he also would have made the same play but is now forever denied a place in our hearts as Sox fans due to Ozzie's vendetta against him).

  9. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...ter-sox.article 4+ minute interview Trying to put all the articles and feature stories together in one place... http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=308943 "I was trying not to throw up." Jamie Buehrle 7/23/09
  10. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) His command wasn't great last night, and left a number of off-speed pitches up. But I like the way that he came out and attacked the hitters. This guy may have a future at the ML level. We have to hope that he can use that cutter to deliver a reasonable facsimile of Esteban Loiaza in 2003, because the odds of Colon holding together down the stretch are about 10-15% at best. BTW, any time a White Sox rookie pitcher delivers us a "quality start" in this decade (since Buehrle/Garland), it's a HUGE cause for celebration.
  11. That's the good 'ol White Sox (three run homer and a cloud of dust) we've all come to know and love. Lost in all this was a real feel-good moment for Fields, who's been buried on the bench for weeks now and forgotten (but not gone). http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/11979683 (Good feature story with comment/opinion on Sox written by George Costanza's brother apparently) http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....ood-people.html http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=290723104 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/base...ex.html?cnn=yes http://www.sportingnews.com/ (how many times are TWO White Sox-related stories on the front, Parque HGH as well)
  12. Ozzie said the same thing in the post-game, not the greatest catch, but "greatest situation" in which to make it. Another interesting twist, we're going to play DET now for first, where he had the shoulder-separating catch and the defining out at home plate (in Chicago) that should have been the GW-run and first place alone right now at the 95 game mark.
  13. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_leagu...?urn=mlb,178408 Note the DeWayne Wise screen-shot at number 2, good avatar replacement for a poster here. #5 is really amazing, too.
  14. http://www.cnn.com/ Buehrle and DeWayne Wise are the main story in the entire US right now. Someone should do a screen save...
  15. BUEHRLE 14-1, 2.47 ERA in his last 20 starts at USCF.
  16. Ironic, but they (Rays) got rid of Edwin Jackson going into the same season of arbitration eligibility, right?
  17. It seems like it will come back on live when Buehrle is back on the mound in the top of the 8th. M's will have the lead going into the bottom of the 9th...2-1 Mariners, still have a chance to add some insurance runs in the top of the 9th.
  18. Granderson tripled in a run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th, runner on 3rd with two outs, M's still up 2-1, clinging to that lead. Washburn pulled for Lowe with under 95 pitches and a shutout going.
  19. There's a FREE LIVE LOOK-IN at MLB.com webpage now.
  20. GET even more nervous. Looks like MB might be victimized by a rain delay in the 3:00 or 3:15 p.m. frame....let's hope that doesn't happen.
  21. Did anyone notice they had Beckham's picture on the frontpage of the yahoo.com sports page earlier? Now the picture has changed to Buehrle? www.yahoo.com/sports This just in, the M's 4-9 spots in the line-up today might be even worse than Lillibridge, Corky Miller, Owens/Anderson/BA, Fields and Getz/Nix.
  22. It really seems that Skowron had been drinking before he came into the booth, or he's on some kind of medication.
  23. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) Alexei actually is having a pretty nice year all of a sudden Not very much talk about Beckham replacing Alexei at SS over the last couple of weeks. Maybe Josh Fields can even get hot...and we'll be debating Fields 3B/Beckham 2B over Beckham/Ramirez/Getz-Nix. A nice problem to have, for sure.
