Where will the bunt or infield single end up with this at-bat? Gork shot? Dunker? -

Young a career .398 hitter vs. CWS. Guess it just went down a bit. -

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) What the f*** Griff? I hope he did that without a call and gets his ass benched. It's a little late in the season for a Griffey benching to have any effect on this team. Even if Griffey was benched, he still wouldn't use Anderson, lol. -

Why is he swinging at a 3-0 pitch that's outside and high, not low in his happy zone. Everyone is pressing. They HAVE to fire Greg Walker or I will have no hope of this team every making the post-season again. -
so he has some material in case there's a blowout. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AkLc...o&type=lgns

9/24 Gamethread: Chicago @ Minnesota

This game will be remembered for that call at 2B. The White Sox are so terrible in domes this year, realistically, what are the odds of beating the D-Rays? We could play Minnesota, Toronto and TB 100 games on the road and possibly win 10-15. -

Adam Russell and MacDougal? Has Guillen lost his mind? You either use Thornton or Buehrle to get through the heart of the line-up in the 7th. -

The question is, what line-up will Ozzie use tomorrow? Can you stay with Wise, junking the experiment with the new line-up after one game? Do you try Swisher? Slowey is a command and control pitcher. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) we get bonser next inning or Crain...I think Gardenhire is struggling with the decision. Both have been consistently erratic all season long. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) Hell of a job managing Gardy. It was pretty obvious that Blackburn was throwing BP fastballs last inning. Griffey had homered, two out of three lefties coming up, and Blackburn's pitch count was up. You can credit him for picking Breslow (over Mijares, Reyes, Guardado), but it wasn't a great move. -

Good thing it's not debate this inning. Breslow went to Yale. -

Swisher and Anderson tomorrow? Wise and Dye are really not distinguishing themselves tonight, to put it mildly. -

Farmer's right. The White Sox looks like a team that has never seen, properly identified or hit a curveball. Blackburn's is absolutely nothing special, it's just kind of hanging up there out and over the plate, but we're not picking it up at all. Exactly the kind of pitcher Brian Anderson has no prayer to hit.... Which is why Griffey is in there. Thank you. The only problem is our bullpen will decide this game...guess it couldn't be much worse than Mark's first three innings. -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Fixed. Q was carrying this team and took the pressure of these underachieving pansies. Well, between Contreras, Linebrink and Quentin, each injury has had different but obvious impacts on our second half performance. -

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) They also had Crede, who's one of those guys who has intangibles that winning teams need. Stat guys never get this. See Iguchi, Tad. 65 pitches. When's the last time Mark had that count through 3? This is starting to remind me of that WS game that he just kept battling and keeping it close...although our bullpen then was SLIGHTLY better, lol. -

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) I kinda think, if you see those shots of Ozzie, that he knows that his team isn't real interested in competing. He enabled some of that, with his bulls*** about needing to have a big lead before going into the Dome. But I think he knows that, without Quentin, the team lacks pop. And even with Quentin, Ozzie's team lacks heart. I think he's known that for awhile. This team had plenty of heart and moxie until about the time Linebrink went down in late July. Ever since then, it has been a struggle, and our pitching has struggled much more than in the first half. Buehrle just doesn't have it tonight. He's still in the game, but he has no absolutely no command/control. And the Twins can smell blood in the water. -

Well, nobody can blame this game on BA yet. Buehrle REALLY needs to have a fast inning. 46 pitches under heavy duress over just 2 innings. -

Wise had a chance to shut this crowd up with a breakthrough hit on the back-up/hanging slider and he just didn't get it done. Now we're really in a huge dogfight. -

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 06:53 PM) And Span jumping up and down while leading off second. They've been looking forward to this series for 2 months, and it looks like it. I'd knock a few guys down. Seriously. They should have knocked down Gomez instead of throwing a ball that could be bunted fairly easily. And then Ramirez couldn't get there in time...need to have better coordination there with Konerko and Ramirez. -

34 pitches for four outs. Typical Twins dinks, dunks and gorks. Then, of course, Mauer and Morneau are looming. It's almost like a nightmare. And our bullpen isn't good enough to go for 4-5 innings and stay even with the Twins. We'll see how this missed called impact the inning. Bases loaded versus runner on 1st and one out. Same thing happened last time in Minnesota. -

Well AJ and Wise have both had huge opportunities to put a dagger into the Twins and we've failed to get it done. Meanwhile, the Twins are going to have the best average in MLB history with RISP. Blackburn knocked down Uribe's ball or it would have been back through the box for a 2-1 Sox lead. At least we seem to be "awake" now. -

I know, BA would have been camped under it and still had time to sell DQ Blizzards to the fans behind the Baggie! Well, FWIW, KC is destroying the Tigers three games in a row. Of course, it means nothing when you play at the HHH I guess. Actually, KC has matched up fairly well over the last 5-7 years in Minnesota because they have a better team for the Dome than we do.
