White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/21/07 (W)
QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 01:01 PM) so are the easiest outs in baseball the eleven following a grand slam? Let's just hope we can score some runs in the next 2 innings before Zumaya comes in...

QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 12:59 PM) for some reason the way Paulie reaches down to catch balls at first base annoys me. its like he just bends over and doesnt ever reach on low throws. he's no Ross Gload, but he's worked to become a slightly above average 1B by MLB standards

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) Has Darin hit it out of the infield all year? lol He hit a couple of nice line drives into the outfield the final game of the Rangers' series. But he does have about 20 4-3 outs now. Well, that was 3 gift runs...should still be 4-0 now. Reminds me of the Saturday FOX game last year that Guillen and Inge f--ed up. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 12:56 PM) NSBB. I suppose she posted it in her profile pictures album. I don't have an account, but I guess she has some other good ones. She has a nice body...but. I feel like Paula Abdul commenting on Haley Scarnato. Oh, well. To each his own.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) In other news, Oliver Perez still owns the Braves. 5 K's through 3. Crede slowly moving out of the Bottom 10 for MLB OPS.

AZ D-Backs young prospects not working out yet
QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) Tell ya one thing about Conor Jackson though...he's absolutely an ABYSMAL first baseman. Apparently CY is heating up. He's back over .200 and seems to be gaining some confidence...I saw him rip a double last night agaisnt SF. I think he has 2 homers and 10 RBI's, which would be close to leading the White Sox.

McCarthy Watch
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 11:22 PM) Going to be hard to do that with a straight as an arrow 89 MPH fastball and a change he can't keep down in the zone while pitching half his games in Arlington. I still don't get why people didn't like that trade. Looked like a fleece from day 1 IMO. The only mistake this offseason was not getting more for Freddy, at least in regards to trade mistakes. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...e.2c700cbb.html Here's the game article from the Dallas Morning News. Brandon, as usual, doesn't seem too concerned.

Where KW is going with this team
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 10:07 AM) Masset'll be starting, too. Cooper told him. Well, I hope Masset keeps on warming up with his reputed fastball. A lot of scouts seem to think that he is very similar to McCarthy, which is interesting. KW is replacing Buehrle with Danks and McCarthy with Masset... Aardsma has been perhaps the Thornton of 2007, although Sisco has done better than I would have expected as well, based on last year's debacle for the Royals.

Where KW is going with this team
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:45 AM) ''Mentally, I didn't stay on,'' Garland said of the two homers. ''I gave up, and it showed.'' Someone called into the Royals' pre-game show yesterday and was going on and on about Charlie Lau and how George Brett never hit .300 in the minors and that the Royals should fire their hitting coach and hire Charlie Lau, Jr. and players like Tony Pena, Jr., Sweeney, Ryan Shealy, Buck, LaRue, etc., would be magically transformed in a similar fashion. The radio host made the comment that you don't teach great players how to be "gamers" or "winners," that it's either inside you or its not. The White Sox had that fire in 2005, and they're struggling to find that missing "it" that is so easy to lose, that mysterious chemistry, "grinderism," "small ball," "Ozzie Ball," well, whatever it was, they better relocate it soon, because the train's leaving the station and the Fat Lady is warming up behind Logan in the pen. 1) Utilize a framework to measure and project the relative cost of performance in the market for players, by position and pay grade. A) Pitchers (especially left-handed pitchers) B) Outfielders C) Catchers D) 3B/SS E) 2B F) 1B/DH (cheapest to replace) 2) Manage players as investment assets in the same way a money manager would manage a portfolio of investments 3) Be willing to force playover turnover to keep the roster young (inexpensive), even in the face of success 4) To build an inventory of the highest value assets, focus player selection and development resources on pitching, particularly left-handed pitching. from Diamond Dollars, Gennaro The acquisitions of Danks and Gio, along with the possibility of converting Sisco to starter, makes a lot more sense from this perspective. I think over time, many in baseball will wonder why the Royals gave up so quickly on Sisco...even though Ross Gload has already won some games for them with the bat.

White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) Wow. Iguchi swings at the pitchout on the hit and run. That's funny. He had no choice, he had to protect the runner...or at least try...that's just the way it goes sometimes. Leyland outguessed Guillen, not a huge surprise. Ex White Sox 1st rounder Bobby Seay....Grilli....Hernandez (Roberto)....Guerrier, what is it with ex-Sox middle relievers in the Central?

White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) I'll take Pods in LF, BA in CF ANYDAY over this awesome leadoff hitter we have right now...but its still a lose-lose to me fathom, you know how that goes But I meant not just taking it easy over the game That ball definitely "GRINDED" through the infield. Okay, let's not blow our fifth lead in the 7th inning or later in our 15th game. That would be atrocious and we would be leading the majors in blown saves.

White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) Some folks in here REALLY need to chill out already. Danks, 5.06 ERA (should be only 3.38 in actuality) McCarthy, 10.20 ERA

QUOTE(OfficerPat35 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) And is anyone else getting pissed when these moron fans cheer like wildfire on a popout to center? I swear, they do it again, Ill go to Detroit and pull a Cho. Idiots. That's a little TOO much there buddy, it's ONLY baseball.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) Is this team f***ing serious with the s*** they pull? More than likely, they would have had to bring a LH to face Mackowiak. Bringing in a reliever with the bases loaded, it puts a lot of pressure on the defense and new pitcher.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) Konerko always gets out of slumps by hitting center-right field. It's about time here. Since when does Grilli throw 97? Well, it's a very straight 97 at least...

White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Konerko better get his head out of his ass and hit the ball. None of this homer crap, just line drive simple swing. No DP, K or pop-up short into the OF please. We have to at least tie the game here. And you know Zumaya's going to come in. Masset's 90-93 does not equal Zumaya, unfortunately.

White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:38 PM) Number 4. its a judgement call by the score keeper Why would a home scorekeeper take away an RBI from a player? It never has been called an error, that I've seen in my life of following baseball. Mental error, sure, but not in the box score.
-
White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) Ah well we all know it's another good outing for Danks despite what the box score says. Dammit Erstad, quit pulling the dam- ball to the right side. Just got lucky for once.
-
White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) They better go back and correct that s***. Danks doesnt deserve 4ER, that is terrible scorekeeping They can't call it an error when nobody touches it. Tons of balls are misplayed or misread and they drop in front or go over an outfielder's head (see Mackowiak last year) and none of them are ruled as errors.

White Sox vs. Tigers, 4/20/07 (W)
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:29 PM) Go f*** yourselves guys, seriously can you ever f***ing help this kid? The White Sox should send him to Charlotte until they decide they actually want to play behind him. This is worse than what Ritchie went through in 2002. Disgraceful that he has 3 earned runs added to his total.

AZ D-Backs young prospects not working out yet
QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Good luck prying him from them. I love the kid though. He'd be a great pickup. Maybe he does....maybe he doesn't. "Not that there's anything wrong with that...." I'm assuming he's playing for the right team and with the right equipment.
