  1. The excuse for Vaughn will unfoubtedly be that Cade Smith was one of the best relievers in baseball last season...cold weather, etc.
  2. Maybe watch the new Red Sox 8 part Netflix special...drafting Kristian Campbell in the fourth round certainly helps.
  3. Getz might still lose his job this season lol.
  4. Our best chance to beat the Tigers is arguably Detroit auto manufacturing going backwards...ofc that's a long-term proposition and hopefully doesn't transpire.
  5. Amaya just got another week of playing time.
  6. What's the last no hitter we lost? Joe Cowley still, right? Can't imagine Venable will let him throw over 90-100 pitches anyway...
  7. Wow...survived that one somehow. Change up gets drilled. Thankfully no Baldwin out there.
  8. Thaiss saves a run.
  9. Should have had a DP. And Robert should have scored. That's just the way things are going for the Sox right now. A year ago when weather was 70 in CLE it would have likely been a DP.
  10. Still debating Madrigal and Vaughn?
  11. Bunt? One in his entire career.
  12. That's why Thaiss is catching. Oops. Hit him with a change up. Batter hit himself...basically. Fooled on the pitch.
  13. Feels like last game where he walked two in the fifth and both scored thanks to Murfee. Cade Smith warming for CLE.
  14. This is why you don't bring up Meidroth Teel and Quero. Hitting in this weather is far from ideal.

  16. He was...in 2023. And McCarthy never had a season like last year...but that's why securing an open MLB GM spot is harder than getting elected to the US Senate. At least it should be.
  17. Dotel and Scott Linebrink the big bullpen additions by KW after the 2007 debacle… "Mike Rodriguez, a broadcaster and former analyst for the Chicago Cubs, said on X that Dotel was inside the club during Perez's performance, citing unnamed sources. Dotel was trapped under debris but is believed to be alive, MLB insider Héctor Gómez said on X, citing a report from sports journalist Dionisio Soldevila."
  18. You can just click on edit and fix the title...see those three dots at the upper right hand area of your post?
  19. Sosa's perceived to be in a slump already and his playing time has been declining...while Maton has been playing nearly every day in the 5th or 6th spot. Baldwin was at least hitting and is still a prospect...but what is it with all the Maton love besides two homers that won't make him a trade target nor help the Sox decide whether to keep Sosa or not.
  20. Last year from the middle of April through May 1st…the Sox hosted Cincy, the Royals, TB Rays and Minn 4-8 record in those games, including sweep of Tampa Bay 11,337 Reds 22,598 17,589 10,569 Royals 10,412 DH 10,323 TB Rays 28,009 12,669 10,772 Twins 11,609 12,216 158,103 / 11 gates=14,373 fans per game
  21. There’s very little correlation between winning MiLB league championships and producing 3+ fWAR major leaguers. Often, it’s just accidental. obviously, winning is preferable to losing…but development and major league readiness are still the key points of a system For, now we’ve got Colson Montgomery free falling out of the Top 100 and a slew of TJS guys. Luis Robert with little to no trade value. Young players like Sosa getting blocked by veterans…without really receiving everyday playing time. Or is he the just another early attrition casualty, along with Fletcher, Colas, etc.?
  22. Was actually expecting a loss of an additional 15-20% in attendance coming off a 121 loss, history-breaking season...so this is a pleasant surprise so far for JR & Sons. Cleveland is the very last team in the major leagues to open up, coming tmrw afternoon at 3 p.m. against the White Sox. Right now, it's quite obvious that Detroit probably has the most enthusiasm/"momentum" from their fanbase coming off a tremendously successful (and unexpected post-season) as they finished off the home stretch of games at something like 20 games over the .500 mark. 14. DETROIT 30,604 per game 24. MINNESOTA 22,501 per game and off to a 3-7 mark, which they could ill afford after last season's disappointing 4th place finish 25. KANSAS CITY 20,750 per game, and must be a pretty big kick in the face for ownership after how well they did in the post-season last year 26. WHITE SOX 17,383 per game...ahead of Miami, the Athletics (limited by the size of the Sacramento AAA stadium, they're basically sold out this year in terms of season tickets), and TB (also limited by stadium size at Steinbrenner Field to 11,000+). Soon to be 27th after Cleveland opens the gates... First six home games last year for White Sox, 116,492 compared to 104,301 this year. Detroit, Atlanta and Cincy compared to Anaheim and Minnesota for those opponents (hard not to argue last season's early schedule was slightly more "compellling"). Of course, the MAJOR difference/s between the two seasons is Grifol vs. Venable as manager and coming off 61-101 versus 41-121. Perhaps the general excitement over Justin Ishbia taking over the team in the future has fueled some additional fan enthusiasm/dare one say hopefulness? Cue obligatory comments about Caulfield starting an attendance thread when he lives...the shortest distance (as the crow flies) between Wuhan, China and Chicago is approximately 7,066.87 miles away. (Give me a slight break, the 104% tariff is coming in just over 9 hours from now, lol...)
  23. They could probably use Tommy Edman's 5 homers and 9 RBI's somewhere in the offense...ofc, Jerry Reinsdorf would sooner cut off his arm or leg than pay $74 million to a utility player nearing 30 after the Leury Garcia Experience. So now JR's averse to spending on utility guys (well, over $5 million at least), bullpen guys and extending ANY starting pitcher for longer than 3 years, regardless of their career background/injury history.
  24. Managers like Venable are always going to play their veterans, especially when they come right off the IL...just watch when Rojas returns. Whatever the deadline, they're going to have to wait another 10-12 days or whatever before any recalls for the extra year of service time. I'm not sure they're 100% ready to make any long-term decisions on Vargas OR Sosa (no options remaining) yet, but it would be logical to get rid of Amaya first. Thaiss has actually been playing decently, so IMO they're likely to bring up Quero first (since they're already more familiar with him, he's the hotter hitter, and they already mentioned that Teel still had some areas defensively they wanted him to address)...also assuming Lee goes back down the minors. Not even sure how many options he has available.
  25. For what it's worth, one of the biggest criticisms of Bond (the Craig years) has been that it kind of became a knock-off of the grittier Jason Bourne style...mixed with the pyrotechnics/CGI/stunt-driven Mission Impossible series. I think that's certainly a valid point. And maybe the fact that film-making for a spy series in which the Soviet Union isn't the same "menacing" threat it was during the Connery years and the difficulty/political aspects of making China the enemy (or generic terrorists/Middle Eastern "goons" without an identified country) has taken some of the fun and cheekiness out of the films. I'm glad they didn't go all the way to casting a female Bond...or the critics would have had a field day with it. That said, the double entendres and sexual innuendoes of all the Connery films from the 1960's are highly unlikely to return...for good reason, even for a "male driven" audience that's still roughly 35-40% females in the last 15-20 years or so.
