Luis Robert hires Scott Boras as agent

Orioles’ fans are going to argue 7 years of Holliday is more valuable than 6 of Robert and Cease… -
Baumeister or Baumann?

Cease Robert Kopech Santos for ... Mullins (flipped eventually) Mayo Basallo Kjerstad Westburg and two best O's minor league pitchers. Orioles become immediate World Series favorites. White Sox mitigate risk of Cease/Robert blowing up before they can be traded...especially Cease with a potential second TJ and with just two years remaining on his deal. This might be one case where they can open up more O's prospects than they could with one alone...90 times out of 100 you would prefer to trade Robert and Cease individually. Or you can substitute Holliday for Mayo Basallo and KJERSTAD. Personally, I do think it would be safer to take those three guys over one Holliday...there would be just as many if not more scouts arguing the value of seven years of one Holliday vs. the much higher bust potential of the Santos provides needed insurance for Kimbrel.

No concerns over all the issues Bienemy has had in WASH? Assuming the connection is transforming Williams into another version of Mahomes in KC? -
Orioles predicted for three of next World Series.... https://www.mlb.com/news/predicting-world-series-winners-through-2033 This can't possibly backfire. "Chicago's reported demand is high. ESPN's Jesse Rogers wrote Wednesday that the club is looking for multiple high-end prospects and some "fill-ins" in return. Rogers listed the Yankees, Cubs and Reds as three teams that could pry Cease away from the Windy City, and Rosenthal included the Red Sox, Giants and Rangers among the clubs most in need of starting pitching."

Didn't he somehow get involved with the Clevinger social media situation too...besides the threat to quit/retire when he was in the minors?

Yeah...was off by one year. 3 1/2 years of .900 OPS (first half 2024) remaining and GG defending Robert wouldn't be much more than a 10-15% discount compared to Soto's initial trade value in summer 2022. -
Santander Mullins Basallo and Kjerstad for those pieces...would be more like it.
-
If you took Mullins out of it...they wouldn't even assume the contracts on Hays Mountcastle and Urias if you gave them away with no talent leaving SD. Zero need for Urias. The other guys you could find a 1B DH corner guy on the FA market...and/or trade without giving up a single Top 6 prospect in the Padres' system. They would much rather have Mateo for PR and defense. That would embarrass Preller because he used to be SD property.

It was very clearly spent, just on the wrong veterans. Keuchel, Grandal, Lynn, Benintendi, Kimbrel/Pollock, Hendriks and finally Ohtani's new best Dodger friend and acclaimed author/TLR favorite.

Obviously had a much longer history/connection with the Mariners. Parts of three seasons, and it was where he kicked off his MLB career. And the writing was already pretty much on the wall with Bannister brought in and Katz retained. Needed that Royals' connection to secure his position and/or a pay rise. It was a very heartwarming story while it lasted with the Sox.
-
Sure, WAY too right-handed, and Grandal's already out. Moncada will soon be next. Sheets SHOULD be out of the picture but god knows what becomes of him this year. Benintendi also doesn't have enough pop to matter all that much on the power side of things. At best a 10-15 homer guy at this point in his career, and maybe still in single figures like 2023.

Basallo, Mayo, Kjerstad, Westburg and/or pitching prospect...that's going to be the ask. No way they would risk trading Holliday, and getting just ONE player back for Robert still doesn't move the meter enough....have to get at least 2-3 guys out of it that become at the very least "well above average" (2.5-3 fWAR and up) major league regulars. -

Essentially 2 1/2 good years counting his breakout minor league season...where he jumped across multiple levels in one single year and exploded on the scene as a prospect. -
That's truly shocking. Even the Pirates are willing to invest more into their future/s than the White Sox at this point. Granted, everyone knew this "recoup last year's lost profits year" was coming down the pike. And the White Sox rebuild potentially got lengthened out even more with the news that Robert will now be getting traded earlier than expected with Boras lurking at the end of the rainbow.

Also more about playoff runs. Those additional two are extremely valuable to the acquiring team. -

Soto was the max value at 3 1/2 years remaining...if you compare to value at just 2. Significant difference between the two respective packages. -
Basallo too...

Assuming he has a healthy/productive season...not sure that's guaranteed at this point in his career. -
Wasn’t there an article recently saying the Yankees and Stroman weren’t considered a great match? That it was Cease at 1A and Snell at 1?

Somehow he just fits the vibe more. Which is probably boring to most fans...the idea of primary controlling the ball with the running game, mostly short passes/screens/dump offs and defense. Then again...that sounds a lot like Michogan, too. Just less focus/attention on the coach than the team itself. -
Surprised they would cede the division to StL like that...especially with Milwaukee potentially folding. And it's not like the Reds are going to suddenly lose all their momentum by 2024.

Hire Vrabel…Harbaugh will want more control than they’re willing to surrender.
