7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
I was in middle school and high school from 84-89 and that wasn't close to this bad with Thomas Ventura McDowell Fernandez Alvarez etc. in the pipeline. Heck Grebeck Paco Martin Christensen Merullo and Shawn Abner would be hitting stars on this team. Ofc I also thought skinny Sosa was the next Clemente. IMO Puig and Tatis and Vladdy Sr. are/were the three closest since then.

Trade thoughts
Orioles' fans have to be getting a bit nervous. Have almost completely blown a 6-0 lead.

This sounds like a very familiar rant this season... everyone is close to that point in one way or another.

Cubs Acquire Peredes
This is a weird one for the Rays who don't usually love offense first guys. Arozarena was dumped partially for that reason. Must see something fixable on. one side of the ball or other.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
Should have put him on the shelf..like Fedde.

Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
Lesko and Snelling really regressed this year. About as much or more than Montgomery. And Iowa's Mazur hardly ready...Preller still dumped a big prospect name knowing he would fail this year down the stretch Wonder if De Vrieze and Snelling other two TB options to choose from??? And Preller must know the insider status of Darvish (family issue) and Musgrove (banged up like Shields in SD at the end).

Jason Adam (TB) to the Padres
Lesko. Padres had just three guys for the back end. Now they have four to tip the balance. Heard Fairbanks going to a NY team as well. Seems certain SD will add a 3/4 starter to really lock in postseason contention. Finally Tatis back in about 2-3 weeks.

Fire Chris Getz
practically guaranteed those guys traded within the division will almost automatically improve and make Getz look even dumber

How the F are we ever going to build an offense?
Nor is Thorpe going to end the year with significant value. We shall see. Kopech might end up with the highest return... similar to Fedde.

Post Draft Top 30 (BA)
We are going to have to take some chances with Korean Japanese and even Taiwanese at some point. Cuba has dried up almost completely now.

Until next stadium…only eight to ten years or so.

Post Draft Top 30 (BA)
Wolkow so low seems ridiculous. Don't forget Ramos and Yosimar Cousin from Cuba... Don't forget helping Dodgers with their #16 prospect...nice of the Sox to always chip in. NEWS SCORES SCHEDULE STATS https://www.mlb.com/prospects/dodgers/hyun-seok-jang-815794 Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 60 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 45 Jang projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the Korea Baseball Organization's September 2023 draft until he announced a month beforehand that he would rather pursue his dream of pitching in Major League Baseball. The Dodgers, who signed the first Korean big leaguer (Chan Ho Park) in 1994, coveted Jang but had little cash remaining in their 2023 international allotment. They traded righty pitching prospects Aldrin Batista and Maximo Martinez to the White Sox for $1 million in bonus pool money, then signed Jang for $900,000. Jang's four-seam fastball parks at 93-95 mph and tops out at 97 with carry up in the strike zone, and he could add more velocity as he continues add strength to his 6-foot-4 frame. His advanced feel for spin results in a pair of plus breaking balls, a hard 84-87 mph slider and a 76-82 mph curveball with downer break. While his fading 82-86 mph changeup isn't as advanced as the rest of his repertoire, it could become an average pitch as he uses it more often. Though there's some effort in Jang's delivery, his arm works well and his mechanics aren't a concern. He had no trouble throwing strikes as an amateur and has all of the ingredients to become a mid-rotation starter. Because he helped Korea win the Asian Games last fall, he's exempt from the mandatory 18-21 months service required of his nation's males and will be able to come to the United States

As would Sirotka and Sirota. Actually, come to think of it, Shuster has been pretty decent in non high leverage work.

Sure no effort when the best CF in the AL last year. Kevin Kiermaier won it on rep alone... lifetime achievement award basically.
