Royals quietly picked up starter depth Michael Lorenzen from the Rangers...

Fletcher, Peralta and Touki return to Chicago
Oh, joy. Loss probability for season now must be under 40 and 120... current betting odds for losses? 1-9 against KC. Yikes. Vargas will be in Chicago tmrw apparently. Michael Lorenzen to the Royals btw. Boosting rotational depth.

Isn't valuing them as equivalent assets baseball malpractice?

2.7 fWAR TOR starter for ten teams in MLB today, #19 ranked after foolishly getting started this last time out 2.7 and trending towards a 4. What does he have... something like 1/4th of team wins? If that's how we value pitching... giving it away for free, why even draft Smith over Cags? The fans of a 120 less team would much rather see some exciting hitters if you have zero speed defense bullpen, etc. Fucking dumbest 1 to 1 evaluation of talent since Brock for Broglio. They will start calling the Sox the No Tool team with Robert gone. Bob from Berwyn or whatever his name has to be contacted by all the local radio call-in programs to rant away.

And let FOUR Padres' execs and scouts come in and steal Tatis right out from under their noses a practice field or two over lol. Our scouting department is almost totally non existent at this point.

Eckstein has to be next Sox manager... or McEwing. Or Jose Oquendo.

First time in SoxTalk history nobody will go on the record as liking this trade or thinking the Sox somehow "won" the trade, day of the move armchair analysis-wise.

The Dodgers also get 17-year-old right-hander Oliver Gonzalez from the Cardinals. Beware the Dodgers' intl scouting prowess. Let's see where the Korean LHP we gifted them with intl bonus pool money and now this kid end up eventually. Oliver Gonzalez, RHP Age: 17 "The Cardinals signed Gonzalez out of Panama this past January for $400,000. The projectable righthander showed advanced pitchability for someone his age and has already added several ticks of velocity to his fastball, which has peaked at 93 mph this season in the Dominican Summer League. He backs his fastball with a mid-70s curveball and a low-80s changeup. His frame, feel to pitch and present stuff combine to give Gonzalez the look of a starter, albeit one who is a long way from reaching his ceiling." ba.com

Taylor has been terible this year. "The Dodgers also get 17-year-old right-hander Oliver Gonzalez from the Cardinals, while the Cardinals will get cash from the White Sox and either cash or a player to be named later from the Dodgers." That might be even more annoying for a cash strapped team. Here, you can have Tatis as well if Erik Johnson isn't enough... we just want our subsidy on the Shields contract anyway.

They have scouts? Even if it was Harold's darling Jared Kelenic included, I would still be hopping mad about this one.

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/dodgers-cardinals-white-sox-three-team-trade-scouting-reports-on-every-player/ In depth reports on trade. Both secondary prospects noted for their lack of standout tools that would allow them to really break out. Seems like just more versions of Sosa Ramos Ja.Gonzalez and Baldwin. Fringe. Freely accessible content at Baseball America home page Alexander Albertus, 2B/3B Age: 19 Albertus, who was signed out of Aruba in 2022, is one of the prospects in the lower levels of the Dodgers’ system with the highest floor. His swing gets to the zone quickly and he keeps the barrel in the zone for a long time, which should give him plenty of hittability and the potential for average power as he matures. Though he’s played mostly third base so far, he’s gotten some exposure at second base and there are evaluators who believe he might wind up at first base as well. Albertus doesn’t have a plus tool on the card, but his hit tool and power both settle in as 50s on the 20-to-80 scouting scale. Jeral Perez, 2B Age: 19 Perez announced his presence loudly in 2023, when he led the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League in home runs. He started hot again this year with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga, where he was one of the best hitters in the minor leagues in the early portion of the season. He’s a well-rounded player without a standout tool. Perez might push 50 grades on the 20-to-80 scouting scale for both hitting and power, though some scouts believe both of those tools might only get to fringe-average thanks to a lengthier swing and a vulnerability against spin. On defense, Perez shows limited range at second base and has gotten some reps at third base as well. His ceiling is as a bat-first utility infielder

And Kahnle an All Star that year. Chasing a failed top prospect in Rutherford. Just like today with Vargas. https://www.stltoday.com/sports/column/benjamin-hochman/hochman-cardinals-trade-for-erick-fedde-is-a-smart-one-with-shades-of-2022-moves/article_1eed627c-4ddb-11ef-b5bb-1724d0ea955e.html

Everyone needs to start writing the Commissioner's office to block the trade as not in the better interests of the game of baseball. Breach of the responsibility to provide a major league product. Hahn better never show his face in public in Chicago again. f*** that idiotic series of events over Kimbrel, Rodon, Madrigal, Pollock and then fool's gold Benintendi. If Eloy just could have played LF as a statue... no Benintendi either.

To Dodgers and then White Sox agree to eat 25% of Ohtani's future tax deferrals in what their accountants originally considered a clever accounting trick.

ReyLo was declining? Or Sox couldn't figure out what to do with him?
