In 1987 John Tumminia became a Major League Baseball Scout for the Chicago White Sox. John recommended countless Major League players during over 30 years with the White Sox, retiring in 2020. In 2001 the Chicago White Sox honored John with their Scout of the Year Award. In 2008, John was inducted into the Topps Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame. In 2016, John established Baseball Miracles, a non-profit organization that introduces baseball to children around the globe. John traveled around the World with Baseball Miracles delivering the hopes of baseball and faith to children in need.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Tumminia, his two daughters Brooke and Tyler, his son-in-law Ben Cherington, his magical grandchildren Adwen and Harper Cherington, and his siblings James and Linda Tumminia.
