  1. Nick Ahmed to LAD basically pushes DeJong out of the picture.
  2. Boyer will be dead along with JR before Benetti gets another from the Sox. Detroit already with one scheduled his first year with Jason, otoh Schiffren Bobbleheads would all be thrown back into the field in protest.
  3. The top of San Diego's system remains strong. The club's top four prospects -- Ethan Salas (No. 6 overall prospect), Robby Snelling (No. 45), Dylan Lesko (No. 77) and Leodalis De Vries (No. 79) -- all rank among MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects. But Salas is off-limits, and the Padres are reluctant to deal any of the other three -- particularly because they'd be selling low on Snelling and Lesko, who have struggled lately. Beyond that quartet, there's a bit of a drop-off. But the next tier still has some intriguing players -- take outfielder Homer Bush Jr. (Padres' No. 8 prospect) or catcher Brandon Valenzuela (No. 11) for example. How big will the Padres swing? That depends on the cost. They've been linked with White Sox ace Garrett Crochet for months, but that would probably cost them De Vries, the top international player in this year's class. (Anyone else recall a 17-year-old international shortstop prospect being moved for a starting pitcher in a midseason Padres-White Sox trade?) Even De Vries might not be enough on his own. Starting pitching is at a premium, and it's a seller's market right now, with so many teams lingering around the fringes of the playoff race. If Crochet and Detroit's Tarik Skubal are the biggest prizes on the trade market, it's probably likely the Padres acquire an arm or two from the tier below them. AJ Casavell, Padres Beat, MLB.com
  4. White Sox will pay Kevin Kiermaier not to retire so he can be their CFer next year at a bargain rack price.
  5. What teams can afford to take on that level of risk? At most 5-6 total. I wish the Pirates Royals or Reds could pull it off to show just how cheap Sox are being. No pitching extensions beyond three years, ever? Ridiculous. Why even try to out a team out there?
  6. PTAC would take the middle road with the plethora of White Sox player injuries since Schneider retired and say nothing is laughable when it comes to one's health/comfort level and generational wealth being threatened....with no choice but to quit? And look how close both Rodon and Giolito were to losing out on hundreds of millions. TA7 was at least 50% a story of injuries from 2022 onwards. Moncada and Jimenez might not see $10 million combined the remainder of their careers. Heck, Burger almost out of baseball and fought back in with the help of his wife despite the White Sox basically cutting him loose.
  7. Will he even come or hide in Lockport out of embarrassment to be associated with this train wreck? What's next? AJ? Black Jack McDowell? Bo Jackson? Billy Hamilton? Nolan Ryan giving Ventura a noogie? Might as well do Sosa as the 1989 Panther and all the 1919 Black Sox members... https://www.mlb.com/press-release/press-release-white-sox-charities-commemorates-hall-of-famer-carlton-fisk-s-jersey-retirement-with-limited-edition-bobblehead
  8. Collectors' item for worst team in big league history?
  9. Or Fulmer...
  10. Watch him return if Burnes or DL Hall get a no no.
  11. No "prophet" for Elias then.
  12. Like they did with Rodon? Or back to humanitarian non QO?
  13. King doesn't have anything like his proven durability. Pitching like this with Musgrove and Darvish both possibly out for the season is the definition of an ace. They were in danger of free falling out of the WC race ten days ago.
  14. Same with Robert almost...just a bit less risk financially.
  15. Which is malpractive to limit options to basically Mets Dodgers Yankees... and Padres who just might do about anything like Top 3-4 guys except no Salas. Orioles Tier B/C again? Someone will run the risk calculus. They have money now with Lowenstein. Almost have to trade him now... JR will make situation worse.
  16. Tell me how this goes down if Crochet is on the Dodgers instead...they mismanaged this guy for over 65% of his career before going the Sale route. Just because JR waited for TLR to take over to authorize shelling out for elite closers Kimbrel and Liam. instead of draft picks like Poreda Ring Buddy etc. And that went so well.
  17. Why can't Vaughn and Sheets and Benintendi all threaten not to play lol?
  18. See Sale LaRoche Eaton Ventura. Or KW feuding with all time franchise star because of his massive ego and beef going back to mid 80s playing days. TA knocked out of baseball by Jose Ramirez.
  19. The White Sox are ultimately going to look like jackasses again when his meagre token extension offer is put out there publicly. Everyone else will perceive it as a low ball offer.
  20. Many players have dictated the draft by refusing to play for certain teams. Why be forced to compete for the worst team in baseball history for a totally inept organization going nowhere fast?
  21. No Top Ten pick next year despite worst record in history. Montgomery back injury. Crochet not traded at peak and possibly injured or pitched into an injury and rendered down 65-75% in value. Free agents/fellow players won't like this situation no matter how it plays out. Robert scufflimg or injured and not even going to get a Jose Quintana 2017 return in all likelihood. Down year in 2023 for Cease clips wings on his perceived value.
  22. Can you force him to pitch when each start this season increases the probability of injury by 5-10%? More innings this season than his entire career... not to mention a significant shoulder injury at Univ of Tennessee? Will the Sox and/or MLB get sued for $150 million if he goes down with another TJ surgery??? Will anyone insure him in this situation? Moncada, for example, has collected nearly $20 million this year for not doing basically anything.
  23. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40640468/white-sox-pitcher-garrett-crochet-wants-start-get-extension-traded White Sox getting screwed again. Said ages ago it would take an extension to make a trade work under these circumstances.
  24. Bring back Sosa. Baldwin needs to get back to what was working in AA for him.
