Maybe Billy Carlson…but he looks so smooth and comfortable there you’d never want to move him. With someone like Tatis or Jackson Merrill, they just took to playing the outfield instantaneously, despite all that development time at SS. Probably the same will happen with #2 overall milb prospect Leo de Vries moving to third, outfield or second base.

Not sure Cholowsky could do that. Bonemer has the better sprint speed, but we shall see quickly enough about routes/instincts.

They're not going to pull Castillo from the rotation with all that money still due in 2027.

Vargas’ future is equally important, but it doesn’t by definition have to be decided in 2027.

Still not sure how it's an advantage in any way to have control over Castillo Brazoban Bart and Doyle. Rentals would have been better with Bonemer and Cholowsky on the way. Could have turned B.Smith/M.Adams/Vielma into a better option than Castillo.

They're not trading a Top 20-30 prospect in milb. Only Skubal fetched that for Zhyhir...who was still only their fourth best OF prospect, and third best on AA team.

Guardians had the much better deadline...got J.Ramirez back and added Genao, more pennant race experience/pitching and Colson/Mune both struggling. Pretty even odds at this point IMO. Unless Teel looks like his second half version last year...but that's not something anyone can reliably count on.

You don’t come more experienced than Carlos Rodriguez and they also pretty sure they still have Gene Watson as well as Barfield. That said, nobody would have predicted Mahle as the best pickup só far. Holmes and Skubal, sure.

Act of desperation… When’s the last time the Sox brought up a “savior” offensive prospect in the final month of the season and threw him right into the fire? Who gets benched?

Maybe Haugh had a longer term contract? Wanted more focus on Cubs/Bears?

I guess...but much more likely to happen in the AFL. Should be only about 7-10 days left to go in the season. Trying to choose which spot to replace between LF 2B and Peters/Doyle at this point is beyond tricky.
