  1. 29th is only off their current MLB Power Rankings by just one spot...seems pretty accurate. Royals at least have Witt Jr. and Brady Singer. Sal Perez, Pasquantino, Keller, a much better farm system and a lot more financial flexibility. Of course, FG will tell you that the White Sox offense is better than the Tigers/Royals, the Tigers' defense is the only positive number (White Sox -7.5 fWAR somehow) of the grouping...but that the White Sox win on the offensive side with 1.2 vs 0.5 (DET) vs. -0.3 (KCR), largely as a result of Sunday's game Royals by fWAR (0.9) have much better pitching than the White Sox (0.2) and Tigers (0.1), yet Hinch and the Tigers clearly the most competitive team of the 3.
  2. Not sure even Hahn's dumb enough to trade him to the Dodgers, Padres, Yankees, etc. At least trade him to a small or mid market team in need of a superstar, like the A's/Reds/Pirates/Rockies/Brewers, etc. Also won't be trading him within the division. Haseley having one hot game is now going to result in even more of a national story if they leave Robert on the bench but not IL'ed for the start of the Twins' series. Haseley playing over Robert does nothing to increase Luis' trade value, ultimately...that's the only thing that really matters now in the big picture.
  3. At least the Rays finally realized that creating the impression of a sellout by tarping 35-40% of the available seats has created a significant home field advantage. Jerry would never surrender that possibility of selling seats... although I guess they did chop off, what, 5000-7500 seats from the upper deck at one point?

  5. Whenever I see "Solution" in caps it brings me back to my 9th grade research paper and Hitler...which is a pretty morbid thought, but with all the comments about Reinsdorf dying it's not all that far off in terms of this whole outdated organization going completely off the rails. Maybe they need to be threatened with contraction like the early 2000's Twins to wake up?
  6. The Royals resent this comment...they're not going to give up the battle for 3rd/4th with the Tigers and White Sox all that easily.
  7. 2001 White Sox seems the best/highest "upside" for this team at the moment.
  8. Reinsdorf sadly has better instincts on player evaluation than Hahn...heck the George Costanza approach, but just do the opposite of that instinct, would be so much better here. Darts against a wall or CHATGPT4 work, too.
  9. https://www.mlb.com/news/what-each-team-learned-in-april-2023 Even more depressing when one reads the writeups on the Guardians and Twins.. Also, is that Merkin firing a shot across the now at Hahn or KW with that article? Both? Seems very intentional to not strike a positive note at all (other than players returning, especially TA7 and Hendriks) after the miracle comeback on Sunday...
  10. Scott Merkin not on board White Sox: Last year’s disappointment has carried over The team changed managers, with Pedro Grifol taking over for bench coach Miguel Cairo, who replaced Tony La Russa at the end of the 2022 season due to illness for the Hall of Famer. But the White Sox's results actually have grown worse. The '22 squad never fell more than five games below .500, nor rose more than five games above .500, while this current version has lost 10 of 11 and is 8-21 so far this season. They have dealt with injuries to key players such as shortstop Tim Anderson and third baseman Yoán Moncada, while closer Liam Hendriks is working his way back after treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But in this supposed window of contention following the rebuild, the White Sox have just two overall playoff victories and already have dug a deep hole in '23. -- Scott Merkin
  11. He's closer to another Benintendi. Career fWAR of 0.6 in 137 games, 705 ops and 88 for wRC+. Not quite a center fielder and not enough power for an outfield corner spot. Certainly adequate as a 4th/5th guy.
  12. All those shortstops were in the $150-200 million range and up. If we weren't willing to do it for Tim Anderson, they're certainly not paying that money to someone coming over from another organization. Aaron Judge was never realistic, either, just like Ohtani this upcoming offseason.
  13. Everyone should get ten free tickets staying to the bitter end of this one. Crazy ending. Last place no more.
  14. Hahn is going to be spending a week crowing about Haseley signing lol.
  15. Then Giolito will start voicing his request for a trade...along with TA7 when he returns. Must feel even worse for Hendriks going from WS favorite to one of the worst teams in history while he was regrettably sidelined through no fault of his own.
  16. Snowballing downwards in the exact way everything is going perfectly for Tampa.
  17. Pollock thankfully... except that departure led to $75 million wasted on Benintendi.
  18. Middleton warming... don't make ME go in, Pedro!
  19. Wayne Hagin and Rooney together on the radio were a great pairing.
  20. Bummer's violent motion was never going to lend itself to consistent results. Ability/potential but always disappointing results ultimately.
